4.5 stars… I thought this was an excellent show. I know it’s based on a movie but I never saw the movie so it was all new to me. The combination of gymnastics, catchy tunes, and acting made for a pleasurable experience for the senses.

A musical about cheerleading — what’s not to love. Seriously though, I really enjoyed the show. The stunts and tumbling were exciting. I laughed and cheered throughout the show. One of the highlights was the young actress who plays«Bridget». She stole every scene she was in and added a lot of heart and humor to the show. While the show was somewhat predictable, it kept me entertained and I did not look at my watch once during the show. The final two cheerleading performances were stunning to watch. If you have a chance to see it before it closes on December 30th, I highly recommend it for a fun evening. Just remember: I’m sexy, I’m cute, I’m popular to boot! I’m bitchin’, great hair, the boys all love to stare!

I’d give this a solid 3.5 stars. The original Bring It On is one of my favorite movies, so I had high hopes for the musical. I knew going in that it wasn’t going to have the same story as the original, but I was still a little underwhelmed. The story was so predictable, that I guessed most of the it from the beginning — it’s full of teen movie cliches. That said, I had a good time at the show and it was much funnier than I expected. The set design here was very interesting, with very sparse sets and most of the background coming from video screens that hung from the ceiling and moved as needed. Music was not memorable, but some of the stunts were pretty cool. I was also pleasantly surprised to see two SYTYCD alum(Neil Haskell and Ariana Debose) have prominent roles in the show. Ariana was barely on SYTYCD so I don’t really remember her, but I have enjoyed Neil’s work on both his season and as an all star. I got a rush ticket for $ 35. which was for a partial view seat. However, when I arrived, the ushers informed me that they were going to upgrade me to a non-obstructed seat. Score! Turns out that this show was far from sold out. Not sure if it’s because it’s not that popular or because I went on a Tuesday night, but I won’t complain about the seat upgrade. Show closes on 12/30, so I’m glad I got to see it before it leaves Broadway!

This was a heap of fun from start to finish. The songs were great, however not particularly memorable. What was memorable however was the ridiculously slick choreography and tumbling from the entire cast. An absolute must to see before it leaves Broadway!
