Solid food that’s tasty, fairly quick and feeds the need when craving some Mexican food. I never thought decent food would come out of anything called«Burrito Box», but I was mistaken. Burritos are not common fare in NYC so I appreciate this one and applaud its offerings. I always go with the Steak and it’s been a consistent winner. Tender and well seasoned along w/the beans, rice, lettuce, tomato and add-on of guacamole, you can’t lose. Expect to pay about $ 10/person avg. The register girl is always super friendly with a smile and the salsa for the chips is chunky tomato which is great! Only thing missing is Mexican Coke in a bottle, but it’s not a deal killer. Go w/the Jaritos or Boing for some authentic drink to wash it all down. Buen Provecho!

Guacs and skirt steak burrito were very tasty! I want to try the quesadilla next time but for a girl whose lives in San Diego for 10 years, it’s the best burrito I’ve had since being in nyc.

Good ol’ trusty Burrito Box. I’ve been here several times and am finally remembering to review this place. It’s a tiny little space… only a few counter seats and definitely NOT good for groups. It’s mostly a takeout place, especially for folks who live in the area and can get busy during peak hours; however the service is usually decently fast and the staff are always smiles and very friendly. It’s definitely not as cheap as your local bodega or hole-in-the-wall taco shop, but I think you get pretty good quality for the price. I almost always get everything grilled steak here, which usually costs $ 10.25(quesadillas, burritos, tostadas, etc). It’s funny because even though this place is called Burrito Box, I still haven’t had a burrito here all this time. Free chips and salsa all the time! Tostada: had the grilled steak version for the first time last night. This is definitely one of those things you should eat right away, or the tortilla shell at the bottom will get soggy. I actually found this dish to be very satisfying and quite filling. The steak is delicious as always and I loved the pinto beans. Comes with salsa, a tiny itty bitty thing of guac, and sour cream. Quesadilla: basic quesadilla, but you can ask for whole wheat tortilla for a «healthier version»(who are you kidding, this thing is chock full of cheese and meat). It doesn’t really come with much and is quite standard for quesadillas, but the meat quality and amount is very reasonable. I always get a tamarindo flavored Jarrito with my meal. Overall, great takeout place when you’re craving Mexican food, but don’t expect it to be super cheap. Then again, Chipotle isn’t even cheap.

Hmmm i don’t know with this spot dude. Maybe I’ve been spoiled too much by chipotle and the amount they put into their burritos, but I didn’t like my chicken special burrito of the day. I stumbled on here on a craving after class and saw the place was packed. After I ordered I thought it was cool how I got free chips, but the burrito for me felt like filler. It was too much cheese and not enough chicken, I don’t think that equated to a serving size at that. Maybe next time I’ll try a diffrent kind of burrito or a quesadilla.

Disgusting cheese sauce + tostidos = nachos ? I asked for an order of nachos and they gave me a tub of liquid cheese spread(disgusting enough) and non-fresh tostidos-style chips. No real cheese, not baked/grilled, nothing layered in, no beans, no pico de gate, no sour cream, no beans. They also send me 2 burritos when I asked for 1– not sure if they double charged me or gave me someone else’s order but the guy hung up on me, claiming they were closed at 11.35(when Unilocal says they close at 12) when I called to sort it out. Burrito Box was a small restaurant that kept a constant stream of customers. Only enough room for about 7 – 8 people to eat inside. It was good though! Wow! I had steak tacos and kids had steak burritos and we loved it! Inexpensive and delicious!

There is only one dish I never get sick of in New York City, and that is the barbecue chicken taco/burrito at BB. I prefer the burrito, but it’s just too big, so now I get the tacos, which are about a buck cheaper. I’ve been eating the BBQ chicken tacos/burritos at Burrito Box since 2011, when I used to work at a company near there. Now I work at a different company near BB, and two of my colleagues from the first company said, «Great! Now you get to be near Burrito Box again!» A little embarrassing, but that’s okay. One of my friends was saying the other day that Burrito Box was just«okay» and I started to get kind of mad. Here’s what I love about BB: 1. BBQ Chicken Taco: The pillowy flour tortilla yields to sweet and sloppy BBQ sauce and tender, braised chicken, as melting sour cream oozes out from the middle(I ask them to put my sour cream inside the tacos) and neutralizes the ungodly amount of Cholula(or sometimes El Yucatero if I’m feeling brave) I’ve added. If you can finish it, get the burrito instead of the tacos. It’s a little less sweet. 2. Free chips: The fresh salsa there is delicious, as is the salsa verde. If you’re eating in, the chips are basically unlimited, too. 3. There is oddly usually an open seat or two even though it’s so crowded in there. What I wish they would change: I eat there quite often instead of getting takeout(takeout is fine but do you really want a soggy tortilla?!), and even if you’re staying there, they’ll still give you a bag of chips and plastic containers of hot sauce and salsa. I think it’s a waste of plastic and paper so I go out of my way to tell them I really don’t want those things, but they usually forget. There’s one guy who’s a little flirty/creepy, but I’ve only seen him there once or twice.

Lots of choices here, what should I eat? I decided for Mexican. This is a very tiny place with very little seating, it’s really a take out place. The menu for this place is huge and very vegetarian friendly. I had the spinach tofu burrito, I thought I was gonna get some green looking tofu but it was just spinach and tofu in a burrito. It is definitely fresh spinach but they overcooked it and the spinach was not cut. I took a bite and a long piece of spinach came out like a straw. Tofu is just tofu. It has standard rice and beans and salsa like a regular burrito. It comes with free chips, which is really already included in the price. They give you extra salsa with the chips. Prices are a little pricier than Chipotle. The burritos are less greasier than those at chipotle. Food isn’t bad would consider coming back.

Really delicious! I almost didn’t go in because it was so crowded, but decided to squeeze in anyway and I’m really glad I did! Even though the place is really small and gets super crowded, they are incredibly fast so it clears out pretty steadily and you should be able to get your food and go within a few minutes. I got the BBQ Chicken Quesadilla. When I got home it had fallen apart in transit, but it still tasted absolutely delicious. The quesadillas come with sour cream, pico de gallo, and guacamole. It’s the smallest little thing of guacamole I’ve ever seen, but it was free so can’t complain. Also everything comes with free chips and salsa! *If you are not a fan of very spicy/hot things, like myself, avoid the tiny thing of green salsa. I wanted to try all the salsas they gave me and that one was SOSPICY! But if you are a fan of spicy/hot things you’ll probably enjoy that green salsa. Overall, very good experience despite the crowd and the food was all great despite being a bit messy!

I love this place – food is extremely fast(even for delivery) and it’s very filling. You get quite sizable portions with lots of meat! The is quite simple and delicious. I usually get the steak burrito or steak taco salad and both are awesome. Both come with a small side of guacamole, and the taco bowl for the salad is very crispy yet flaky. Also when you get delivery you get a free bag of chips and salsa. The chips are pretty good but you can definitely tell they have a lot of oil in them.

Good burritos at a descent price. These burritos are packed to the max. I ordered the chicken burrito and it tasted good but I couldn’t even hold it because it was so stuffed it was a mess. I ended up just picking at it and tearing it apart. The flavors were good and it was made quickly. This was definitely better than anything that I have ever had at Chipotle but honestly nothing memorable. I wouldn’t be running back but not opposed to coming back either!

It’s more worth spending $ 10 at Burrito Box than Chipotle. Big portion, good quality plus free chips! This is our go-to spot for mexican cuisine in Hell’s Kitchen. Unfortunately, they don’t deliver far down to 42nd st, so we usually give them a call 10 – 15 minutes before our arrival to place an order and pick up — fast and easy! FYI, this place does not offer spacious seating area. Taco salad is my favorite; you can’t go wrong with any burrito or quesadilla.

Although have I never been to Mexico, I am in love burrito. This place is a hidden gem in columbus circle! Location: 9TH street is pretty off columbus circle(walkways), but it does not prevent me from exploring this place. The store is pretty small, next to a Japanese ramen place. And it offers limited seats. I was there in the evening, so the line is not crowded at all. Food: Tried their Organic Seitan. «Seitan is made from Wheat Gluten it’s a low fat, high protein alternative to meat, its meat-like texture makes it a perfect replacement.» To me, it’s just tofu, a unique tofu, which tastes delicious as hell. They also gave out chips, with three kinds of salsas. The green one is pretty spice, but I do love it. The line is quick. It takes me about 8 minuets to get my food. YAY Service: like I said, very quick and is great for a quick bite, quick lunch, or even quick dinner spot. Overall: I love this place, especially their organic seitan burrito. Next time, I am also interested in their tostada salad. So I will try those next time! Way to explore and way to go! Stars?, of course solid 4. How often can you only pay 9.95 to eat a delicious dinner in NYC? The answer is almost never! So come, and enjoy this cheap, good, wonderful place.

Wasn’t too impressed. My quesadilla was limp and soggy. It had no char or grill marks so I’m confused as to how it was made. I really think it was a weak attempt, and I hate to complain. I just ate the meat and cheese and discarded the tortilla. Next time… If there is a next time, I’ll try a burrito. On a positive note, the guys in there work fast. Free chips and salsa, really good salsa and pico de gallo.

Ordered a steak burrito. It was alright. Can’t compare to Mexican food back in Cali but I was content. Meat was pretty good. I liked how they gave pico de gallo-like salsa(on the side) with the burrito. Cholula and the habanero sauce is also on the side of the tables. Clean, fast, friendly service.

Funny how things work out: I went to high school a few blocks away from here(HSES, represent!) and yet, I had never gone in here to get food during my attendance at the aforementioned high school. No, instead, I decided to come in on a random evening after checking out a free concert at the Damrosch bandshell in Lincoln Center, 11+ years after I had last walked through my high school’s main doors. I ordered their seitan burrito to go, which also came with a complimentary side of chips. Once at home, I proceeded to take a bite of my gigantic burrito, and then I quickly proceeded to then devour the behemoth that constituted my dinner that evening. It was absolutely delicious. I would perhaps say that I may have missed out on numerous eats as a high schooler, but my cheap high school self had a budget to maintain and these burritos were slightly out of my skint reach back then. Everything I love in a burrito was in this masterpiece and I would absolutely come back here to get another lovely creation if I ever find myself in this part of the city again.

Burrito Box is a cheap way to get your East Coast Mexican(‘cuz God knows we’re slacking in that department) craving on! With $ 10, you can get a humungous burrito ***evenly***(biggest pet peeve when burrito builders make my burrito like a parfait and I have to eat through a layer of one type at a time) stuffed with melted cheese. Yuuuuum. You also get unlimited chips and unlimited salsa! It’s a partaayyyy. Go. Stop going to Chipotle.
