You want the best lunch deal in midtown? You hungry? Get the ½ roast chicken, 2 sides and a can of soda for $ 6.50. You won’t be sorry.

Like a regular bodega only bigger. Slight markup on all the prices when compared to a regular supermarket. Foods okay, coffee’s blah, but the trade off is convenience.

Another NYC gourmet Deli. Sushi, salads, made to order pastas, burritos, tacos, hot and cold bar, full deli, soups, you name it they have it here. I do not think they own an AC because in the summer it is super hot in here. They usually have a daily special going on and they will give you coupons for the salad bar as well. I would not say they are superb but they aren’t bad and I will keep going back.

Don’t come here if you’re indecisive. Café Au Bön Gout boasts an impressive selection of… everything. Sushi, pasta, salads, burgers, sandwiches, burritos, paninis, fruit, drinks, a cold buffet, a hot buffet and anything else you could desire. The service is quick and efficient, the prices are reasonably cheap and there’s a café portion to sit and eat at upstairs. I come here because my office is close, but I wouldn’t seek it out otherwise.

I go there a lot because it’s the preferred place to hang out for one of my gaming groups. I imagine they do their best business at lunch, because when I’m usually there around dinnertime their options are much more limited(several of the sections are closed down or not staffed). The staff is usually nice, though, and they don’t mind if you hang out upstairs as long as you want. We usually get there around 6 and leave just before midnight. The food is pretty good: sandwiches, salad bar, and pizza are my main go-tos. They also have an extensive selection of drinks and snacks. Prices are decent for Manhattan.

This is like the Whole Foods food bar on crack. I think every big city has places like this… a really large deli with prepared food. It’s also somewhat of a convenience store as they sell things like cigarettes and cat litter and laundry detergent. I had some soup and a sandwich. The sandwich guys are really nice, and made my sandwich to order. I probably wouldn’t go here again in the future as a tourist because there’s so much to try in the city, but if I worked nearby it would be a perfect place for lunch.

This place is like a deli on steroids! So much here, and at decent prices. I dropped in here for lunch today and was almost overwhelmed by the barrage of food choices. It’s almost like there is too much here. Just a cornucopia of everything in abundance, you name it. Hot and cold food buffets, salad and pasta stations, deli counter, coffee station, hot platters, sandwiches and paninis, brick over pizza, wraps, burritos, soup station, Mexican station, fruit, sushi, Bibimbap, desserts, snacks, a ton of drinks, even wine and saki! I’m sure there is more that I missed. I did notice that prices are reasonable here too. I had a nice sized sushi tray for $ 8. There is just a crazy abundance of stuff in this joint. Visually, it’s not the most appealing looking place, and is a bit dingy with some rough edges. Some table seating in the front and an upstairs dining area to eat at. The upstairs even has a row of those old pay for internet computers up there. The ceiling looks like it had some water damage at one point. I’d suggest getting your food to go as I saw many doing. It is open 24 hours a day, but I’m sure with very limited offerings overnight.

Walked in briefly at around 2 a.m. on a futile search for a grade A quality restaurant serving dessert i.e. not fast food. Didn’t seem like anything prepared was available & seemed like any old 7 – 11 or deli not serving special food. When your sign says«Open 24 hours» and I can’t get such things, it’s a disappointment. Granted, my husband was irritated at this point & didn’t really seek out anyone for things but overall I was still disappointed. Maybe it’s better earlier in the day.

We ate breakfast here 5 out of 7 days we were in New York. Breakfast Plate #1 was awesome with Hazelnut coffee. We also tried the Bulgogi Rice Bowl — Korean Beef with lots of condiments and sides; delicious and yummy. Single Pizza — not bad at all. For the price they charge, you cannot go wrong. This place is close to the Firehouse and Police Precinct so there were lots of Cops, EMTs and Firemen around so you feel save eating here.

If you are hungry and it is late at night you can find tons of options at Café Au Bön Gout. While it might not be the best quality there is a lot of quantity so you have a great chance of getting something to ease the hunger monster in your tummy. There is both a hot and cold bar full of multiple types of salads, meats, carbs, etc. and it’s all sold by the pound. They also have a grill where they make breakfast, sandwiches, wraps, pizza, and more. They have a sushi section, a rotating dessert cake display, and even a smoothie bar. There’s plenty of seating and it’s fairly easy to get in and out quickly plus it’s pretty cheap so while I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s the best place you could eat it is high on convenience and options which is pretty cool.

I have eaten at so many places in NYC including hole-in-the-walls and street carts and this is one of the only places that has ever given me food poisoning! That is why this place gets my rare one star review. This is a very big deli/café that serves sandwiches and hot and cold food. It looks relatively clean on the inside with lots of food choices, even some Asian and Mexican food. However, I mistakenly came here for the hot per-pound buffet. The steam tables had a lot of options — rice, stewed meat, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, veggies, etc. I scooped up many of the things. About two hours after I ate my food, I had a stomachache and I had to run to the toilet. And for the rest of the night, I ran to the toilet every 1 or 2 hours. For the next 3 days, I went to the toilet a total of maybe 40 times! I will not return here for fear of making my ass hurt again.

On a cold night when you are waiting for people to show up, this place is a nice place to crash for a cup of soup. Seating is plentiful in the front and the back, and the selections on drinks and the hot food station is plentiful. The Seafood Bisque was warm with a good amount of squid(I did fill up my own cup though). I always prefer soup over tea, and tea over coffee. It more quiet than your normal Starbucks, so I got some reading done. I wonder if that can be the next big thing, chain gourmet soup cafes with comfy couches?

$ 1.25 will get you a medium cup of coffee. You fix it any way you like. $ 1.50 will get you a large cup of coffee. You fix it any way you like. $ 5.95 will get you a large burrito of any kind(grilled chicken, veggie, chicken fajita, beef, etc.). You tell them to fix it any way you like. I’ve come into Au Bön Gout for the coffee mainly and an occasional Power Bar or bag of chips, but today was the first time that I really sampled their food. After hearing SO much about their burritos from my coworkers, um, all the time, I finally gave in and walked next door for lunch. I asked for a grilled chicken burrito with black beans, rice, cheese, salsa(mild, though in retrospect it could have been medium), and lettuce. After they finished making it they threw it on a grill for a couple seconds on each side, which gave the tortilla a fabulous baked feel to it. The ingredients were fresh and delicious, and the burrito itself is HUGE. I have leftovers for lunch tomorrow! Less than $ 6 to feed me to lunch meals? Now that’s handy. There are endless buffet lines with both hot and cold food, a soup counter, deli counter, a sushi refrigerator, etc. Hell, there’s even various 6-packs of beer and a wine shelf! There’s a couple of tables and chairs by the door, and you have to look very closely for the upstairs seating in the back, but it’s there. Word to the wise though, if you sit up there like I did today, you’ll come out smelling like food. If your only plans after work are to head to the gym, then by all means sit, sit! But if you plan on meeting a hot date afterward, you may want to take the food with you back to the office.

In an area where there is a dearth of affordable yet good lunch spots, Au Bön Gout stands out as an oasis in the wasteland between Koreatown and lower 5th Avenue. The area below 32nd Street has it’s share of eateries, but none stands out in terms of variety and cost effectiveness as Au Bön Gout. The true standout at ABG is the soup station; usually a variety of 8 kinds are available every day. A massive one quart container is only $ 5.50 and cannot be finished in one sitting. For dessert, an equally massive frozen soft serve yogurt could be had for $ 3.50 and a smaller, yet satisfying $ 2.50 version is available. ABG has a weigh by the pound deli, a pizza section, an asian noodle section, an asian food section, deli sandwich section and a large satisfying hot sandwich section. In addition to this variety, ABG offers a daily $ 5.95 special that includes a can of soda! A $ 5.95 lunch is unheard of these days! ABG is definitely a keeper for those who work in the area and want a cheap lunch!

Ok. This place is proooobably not going to be a destination for most of my Unilocal«friends». But, wandering around after work, looking for a cheap dinner, I noticed their chalk board with a Burger Deluxe and Free can of soda for $ 5.95. Can’t beat it. Burger is one of those big olé honkin slabs of meat, well done, that crumbles at the edges, and smells like a cow. You know what I mean.(not in a bad way) I ate upstairs as the«internet café» monitors flickered at my face, and the small dimly lit fluorescent lights seemed like they wanted to hide something. Almost, ALMOST, movie scene quality, with the ethnic mix of tourists and local workers, spent in the early evening hours, grabbing a bite before heading somewhere else. Anywhere else.

A 24 hour joint in the Flatiron is MY lunch spot. The Mexican food station on the right hand side of the joint is a God send… the tacos and burritos are damned good… and surpisingly cheap. It’s about $ 6 with a free soda. They work quick so when you have an hour lunch like I do, it counts.

TIP: Einfach mal hierher verirren !
