They have great sections but they are crooks. They charge $.50 for jelly after you accepted your toast. The only way jelly is free is if you ask while they are preparing the toast. The home fries are disgusting. The bacon is great though, I just wish they had better workers.

Horrible service. Placed an order for breakfast and lunch this morning. A woman called me back from Café Bistro saying that she no longer had breakfast. It wasn’t even 11AM yet… She gave me so much attitude when I asked if they were not willing to make breakfast items after half past ten, why even have it as a choice on the menu on seamless? Her response was: «When I tell you we are not making it, then we are not making it.» I was baffled by her rudeness and attitude that I ended up cancelling the entire order. Will never order from here again.

We hosted our daughter’s first birthday upstairs. Buffet was good, and special shout out to Alonja and her staff for being so helpful. Our guests had nothing but good things to say.

I work right near this place and am a frequent customer. For $ 8 you can get a salad with unlimited toppings and believe me they have a lot of options, which is a great deal considering Guy and Gallard a few doors down charges per topping. They have many different sandwich options and they allow you to make your own as well. I must say, I have never had a sandwich I didn’t like here… and the sandwiches are huge. They also have a small hot-food bar which is about $ 10 a container or $ 5 for a side, this food is usually good but I think the sandwich is a better deal. If you are in a hurry or nearby and want a quick lunch, this is a great place to stop.

I can’t believe I’ve never reviewed the Bistro! Any self-respecting midtowner has seen the green bags. We’ve all been there. Some of us more than others(ahem). Anyway, for such a small place, they really have a decent selection. The highlights: — Good breakfast omelettes. Great wheat toast slices, nice and thick. Crust is a little hard sometimes but bread is nice and fluffy. — Best bang-for-your-buck burrito around. Period. You can get a bowl, 4 or 5 different kinds of wraps, or even a bowl lined with a wrap. Not only do the hey have the best selection of wraps, they have the cheapest price(It’s either $ 7 or $ 8 anyday), and you can get ANY toppings. Including guacamole, jalapenos, cheese, whatever you want. — Best selection of lunch combinations around. It’s still the only place I know that you can mix n’ match 2 of either: half sandwich, small soup, and small salad for one low price. A lot of places have soup/sandwich deals, or soup/salad deals, but not many places allow any combination of the above. I think whatever reviewer(s) were talking about pizza and sushi were confusing this place with Café Duke across the street!

I used to come here for lunch every day. The sandwiches are just awesome and they taste great. They also give you a free pickle with every sandwich. The only reason I stopped coming here is because I started eating healthier.

I ate and drank like a pig last night. No, seriously, I was a food whore the last few days. Don’t even get me started on all the booze I drank. If my body was a temple I just tore it down and put up a garbage dump this past week in it’s place. Just wanted to eat a light lunch today on top of drinking a gallon of water to help flush the toxins out of my system. Came across Café Bistro and decided to give it a chance. The place is clean, and the staff courteous and efficient. It’s basically a deli with a small hot buffet and a really good salad bar with all kinds of toppings. What really lured me in was the sign on the front window — Made to order salad with unlimited toppings for $ 7.81. Now this is a winner! Man, I piled on high the toppings which included grilled chicken and everything but the kitchen sink. A bunch of dressings to choose from too. No seating here other than a counter against the wall by the entrance that I perched on and ate my salad bowl. It was passable and ok at best. Nothing luxurious, and you can’t beat the price for a cheap lunch.

Café Bistro is one of those places that has everything. Hot and cold buffets, pizza, sandwiches, sushi pretty much whatever you want. It’s a good place for lunch if you are in the area. The buffet food is decent, with some items being tastier than others. The hot sandwiches are my favorite. The hero bread they use is delicious. The fresh turkey is moist as is the grilled chicken. There are always lines to pay, but they move quickly. Is it the best place that serves the most delicious food? No, but the prices are affordable and it is a place to get a decent lunch.

LOVE this place. When it comes to the plethora of like-lunch spots in this neighborhood, Café Bistro stands above. I wish they were open later because locals like me would order after 5pm too! The chicken parm on whole wheat hero is just incredible. Great service too. A+

I work really close by so I come here pretty often. I get egg and avacado on toast for breakfast and I’ve had it at other places before and Café Bistro is definitely #1. They also have unlimited toppings on their mixed salads so I take full advantage of that. The employees are all very friendly, fast and attentive. Only thing I don’t like is the weird pricing. Like it costs 4.25 for a simple grilled cheese but if I get a BLT with cheese it’s like 3.90.

I’ve been here many times, since they’re salad bar is cheaper than most around town. I went recently and got a salad with olives, carrots, egg whites with some dressing; when I was rung up it was $ 8.50!!! I was blown away and asked why, when I was told it was a price change I was upset and left knowing I wouldn’t be going back when I could get more for less up the block at Europa. The lettuce was hot because they don’t keep it refrigerated and so were the veggies. This was suuuch a disappointment and unfortunate considering I couldn’t even finish my salad. Definitely not going and reverting to my old Europa ways.

I was impressed with this place. Clean, nice, open décor. Fresh flowers for sale. Not too busy for breakfast. The Spanish omelet with bell peppers, onion, bacon, and cheese was fantastic. Service was fast and friendly. I also picked up a ton of fresh fruit and cottage cheese for a snack later. The fruit is beautiful. Will defiantly be back.

I stop here for breakfast almost every day on my way to work, and I disagree with any negative reviews. This spot is the bees knees. I am a personal fan of the fresh fruit bar they have every morning — there is always a great variety, and whatever fruit is in season, you will find there, clean and fresh, along side yogurt, granola, and hardboiled eggs. I have also tried their hot breakfast bar(try the french toast and turkey bacon, yum!), their hot lunch bar(Mac and Cheese and candied Sweet potatos are spot on), their cold salad bar(which can sometimes leave something to be desired for), and their sandwhich bar(they will make you whatever you want, whether it’s on the menu or not). Their smoothies are also awesome — they don’t add any sugar, and will make it completely to your specifications(I get it without the ice, for example, which leaves more room for fruit!). They also have deli and bodega items, like cottage cheese, yogurts, milks, and tons of drink options, plus crackers and cookies of gourmet proportions. The only bad thing I can say is that it’s a little pricey — but it is SO convenient that I almost overlook it.

This place has the worst service. They took my order and a minute later asked me again for my order — still the same person! Then they charged me more than the menu price and when I gave my credit card, they gave it back to another customer who had yet to pay! And not even an apology. The food is awful; an egg and cheese sandwich is runny and had some sort of velveeta stuff on top. Ew! It may look pretty, but looks are deceiving. Save your money — and credit card — and go elsewhere.

For it’s cleanliness and overall choices of foodie treats from the sushi(haven’t tried it yet so the jury is still out) to the pasta, plus free wifi, near the Penn Station hub, and being conveniently located next to a movie theater, I give it three stars… the food. hmmm I had the rigatoni with marinara sauce and sausage, it was not bad just«ok».

I used to frequent this place when it was formerly known as Milano’s. It was reasonable, good food with friendly service that attracted a bunch of regular customers. However, since it changed hands and became Café Bistro prices sky-rocketed and service has gone way down. I decided to finally blacklist the place when they charged me more for a sandwich than what was listed on the menu(they charge for fancier bread but do not advertise that anywhere on their menu).Seems as though they have decided to focus on the Empire State Building tourist instead of the corporate customers that used to go in there. I used to give them a ton of catering service but moved my business elsewhere. There are too many deli type places in the area with better prices to support this joint.
