Update: I need to change my review for the better. Per internet recommendations I met with another parasite specialist who confirmed I was negative for e. histolytica in a variety of ways. This different doctor also advised me that the course of medicine prescribed to me by Dr. Cahill – while not particularly strong – was likely enough to eliminate the infection in my system. Although followup care with Dr. Cahill is hardly realistic, in my case he did hit the nail right on the head, and for that I will always be grateful. As for my ongoing symptoms, it turned out my system was extremely low in certain strains of beneficial bacteria, which hardly came as a surprise given how long I had had the infection plus the multiple rounds of antibiotics I was prescribed by different doctors before coming across Dr. Cahill. After a few weeks on VSL#3, I’m relieved to say that my fatigue and related symptoms have completely cleared – in other words, I’m cured! One huge surprise was that I continually contracted new bacterial infections while I was on the probiotics – diseases with specific names, not something like«too much acidophilus” – so I have no idea if I just had bad luck with catching germs or if I had some latent infections hanging out in my system. It’s been a few months now and I have zero symptoms or problems eating any sort of food. I plan to stay on the VSL for at least a full calendar year just in case, so I may update my review should my condition change(but I doubt it). For anyone who’d like to compare notes, please feel free to private message me. Similarly, a very hostile reviewer by the name of Maziel L. has contacted me several times demanding my personal medical history, then responded with name calling, cursing, and threats when I declined. If you also hear from this person, I recommend deleting the correspondence and not bothering with trying to be polite.

Two years after being diagnosed with a parasite by Dr. Cahill, I am not completely cured. I’ve spoken to several Cahill patients and we all seem unsure if we were given the correct treatment etc. I do believe Dr. Cahill is very smart and has saved a lot of people. Let me suggest an alternative– Dr. Olé Vielemeyer an infectious disease specialist at Weil Cornell in NYC. He is one of the best and he takes insurance. Take the first appointment available and then call daily to see if they are cancellations. He is brilliant, personable and will take his time with you. He sees many former Cahill patients, so I suggest seeing Dr. Vielemeyer.

I’m still figuring all of this out, but I think Cahill may just have saved me from an existing problem that was was becoming really bad — from becoming an unbearable problem where no one else would know what was wrong with me. Two years ago I thought I’d been exposed to parasites, I had crazy symptoms and saw 4 doctors — my GP and three GI’s — one was a quack and the other two thought I very likely had a parasite but were not able to find it. Fast forward almost two years and crazy symptoms started happening again. After some homework on a major symptom I linked it to parasites. I Googled and came across Cahill and he found two parasites. It’s only been a couple of weeks and things are still settling down — but I really don’t know what would have happened next if I hadn’t gone to see Cahill. Regular doctors don’t know how to look for parasites. Cahill told me that endoscopies and colonoscopies do not find parasites — partially because you have to flush your system beforehand and these critters hide. And in my own experience, neither do the labs where you send your stool. They only look for what they’re told to even if something else is point blank staring them in the face. But if you go see Cahill, be prepared with your questions — you’ll get limited time with him. I did need to be retreated and saw someone else the second time around to be sure, but it was Cahill’s original diagnosis that put me on the right path. And the second person that I saw found that one of two parasites remained and the one that was still there she hadn’t realized I’d mentioned. So she verified Cahill’s original diagnosis, but I needed a different mix of meds to get rid of it. Also, the meds Cahill prescribes are Grade A World Health Org. meds. They are a fortune in the U.S. You might want to sort out whether you trust an online pharmacy or have a friend who can help before going to see Cahill, because once you get your diagnosis you’re going to want the meds as fast as you can get them and won’t have time to research.
