Cakes N’ Shapes

Yesterday I placed an order for a 5×5 edible photo to place on my boyfriend’s graduation cake. Today I picked it up and I am so happy with my purchase!
The edible photo was perfect, printed out just like the image I uploaded to the site. The owner was so friendly and very, very helpful.
Pro Tip: you need fresh, moist frosting to help the photo adhere to the cake. But silly me frosted the cake the night before. The owner was sweet enough to help me with my dilemma though. And now I have a perfect customized photo cake!

Fantastic! Amazing and well worth the extra effort of calling ahead and providing a photo to go on the cake. The cake is delicious, service was very attentive and cost is reasonable. I had procrastinated on my wife’s birthday cake (due to our schedules) and when I called Cakes n’ Shapes I spoke with the owner Edie and she didn’t even flinch when I told her I needed the personal photo cake within 24 hours. Most of the other bakeries ask for 3 days minimum. So, to have Edie pull this off quickly was a big relief. Sure you can just buy any old generic prefab birthday cake, but this is certainly much more special. My wife was super happy and touched that I made this happen. Sometimes when you buy something that has a bespoke feature to it the flavor or quality may be compromised — this was not the case with this shop. The cake was just as good as any you’ll buy in a bakery, but it had my wife’s portrait on it too.
Highly recommend!!! Edie is terrific and the overall experience is a ¹⁰⁄₁₀.

Helped me while in a bind to get an edible print made. The print was awesome and truly gave a wow factor at my son’s 1^st birthday. Had I found them earlier I would have done the full cake with them. Next time for sure!

Can’t say enough good stuff about my experience here. Long story short, needed a .JPG on a cake on very short notice. Called, spoke to Edie, who was professional and accommodating. I was able to pick up a delicious cake with a perfectly reproduced image from the West Side storefront the next day. Very pleased with the results, highly recommended.

I ordered a cake for my First anniversary. The photo on the cake looked really beautiful. The chocolate cake was amazing. My husband loved the surprise. Thanks Edie for making the cake at such short notice ! You were so nice to talk to. It was amazing.

Please keep in mind — this is a one woman shop. She does a lovely job but needs advance notice and best to schedule a cake consultation as opposed to popping in. The photo print cakes are pretty cool and look just like the image you submit. Cake flavor options are basic — chocolate or vanilla. My cake tasted good, my guests were satisfied. Price is a bit steep by comprable for the area.
I had a photo printed sheet cake for 20 = $ 175. As a Hells Kitchen resident I find it important to support local shops — happy to do business with Cake N Shapes in the future!

This place is fantastic. I have been wanting to write a review for some time and finally got around to write one now before my next order. There’s something about this place that keeps you coming back. Starting with a courteous and professional owner aka Edie and the finished product, the entire circle of customer service from start to finish is amazing. Edie is very accommodating in what she can offer within her offerings. The cake she baked for my wife was AMAZING to say the least. Easily one of the best birthday cakes i have eaten and the fact that she was able to add an edible picture added that much needed personal touch for a birthday.
Like one guest at the party remarked, «I have seen cakes with pictures but none was ever as good as this». Go here and you won’t regret it!

Edie is the best!!! She made an edible image for me at the last minute, and saved my life!!! She did this after another business, New York Cake, who had promised to make the image for days, never did it (and didn’t have the decency to let me know!). You cannot go wrong with Edie at Cakes N’Shapes!!!

I had a last minute cake need and called Edie with a whopping 24 hours to pull it off. She made a stressful day much calmer by assuring me it was no problem. Around 1pm on Monday we chatted briefly about the cake and flavors, I emailed her a picture and some text — and by 10am the next morning Edie emailed me a picture of the cake she’d made me. I was blown away at how great it looked and anxious to see if it tasted just as good :) I picked up the cake at 1pm today, brought it to my husband’s office for a surprise party and everyone LOVED it! It was moist and delicious, not sickeningly sweet and it really looked great. I only wish I’d grabbed a few more of her cards, because I handed out all 4 that I had on me. Everyone wanted to know where they could get a cake like it, should the need arise. Thank you, Edie, for making the first surprise of my husband’s special day so good! Here’s a pic of the cake. I needed a photo cake created for a birthday celebration so I shopped around online and in my area to see what the best value and product would be. I happened to find cakes n’ shapes as it was one block from my apt., had the best rates, and not to mention a great Unilocal rating.
Edie was so helpful in getting the right image resolution and dimensions together. It came out absolutely perfect. Quick turnaround time, and the cake was delicious!
I’m a fan and will recommend this business for anyone who needs specialty cakes crated.

Cakes n’ Shapes is amazing! I called on Monday and Edie had no problem making a photo cake for my husband’s 30^th birthday party on Saturday. It wasn’t cheap, but it looked perfect, AND delicious. I got vanilla cake with chocolate filling. YUM! And Edie was so sweet!
I will definitely use this business again, maybe for some photo cookies!

Was I satisfied with my custom cake from Cakes N’ Shapes? Look at it! I dare you to tell me you’ve seen a more beautiful cake. My coworker’s birthday was approaching, and being that the only thing I knew about her was that she is obsessed with Britney Spears, I wanted a Britney-​themed cake to go with the Britney-​themed luncheon I was throwing. I called the lovely Edie, who was a pleasure. She had me email her the image I wanted frosted onto the cake — and two to three days later — BAM! A confectionary masterpiece! Thanks Edie! I’m a slave for Cakes N’ Shapes (Sorry — that was as good of a Britney pun that I could be bothered to make).

I cannot speak more highly of Edie at Cakes n’ Shapes. She does incredible work.
Basically, I had a really hard time finding someone in Manhattan that did quality edible photo prints for a cake. So I called Sugar Sweet Sunshine, my favorite bakery in the LES for a suggestion and they sent me to Edie at Cakes n’ Shapes. This is THE person to go to in Manhattan for this. She has a huge celebrity and corporate client list (check out her cakes on her website!) and she is highly efficient.
All it takes is to e-​mail her with the image (no larger than 1 MB) and she will e-​mail you back. She will also fed-​ex the picture if you live out of state. I just picked up the image and brought it to the bakery I wanted to have the cake made, but she will also make cookies, cakes, and cupcakes with the photo image.
One image: $ 20 but so well worth it and the cake was a huge hit!
