Skip the pretentiousness that often clings to the art world. Go to a gallery where the seasoned artists exhibiting are less concerned with the trappings of the scene than they are with simply telling their stories through a broad spectrum of media. Walk in, say hello, and feel welcome. This place is accessible no matter how new you might be to appreciating fine art. It’s a pretty warm vibe because the people whose work is on the walls are all part of a community. They are veteran artists who have fascinating stories to tell thanks to rich experiences that young upstarts simply couldn’t have amassed. And the kicker — you can afford to be a NYC art collector at CBG. Try finding an original canvas in another Chelsea gallery for a couple hundred bucks. Here, it’s the norm.

A beautiful space filled with both the energy and love of the people who dedicate their life’s work to the organization, and of course the inspiring works of art which tell the stories of some of the most unique individuals in New York

I was at the gallery for their 12×12 exhibit where they showcased the work of many different artists. It was beautifully diverse and exciting to see how different artists worked with the same canvas. I loved the work and the gallery itself has a special, welcoming aura that really pulled me in. I’m so glad I went!
