Chase Bank

This review is based on a single incident. I never visited this branch before so I don’t have any experience with their tellers or customer service representatives.
I went into Chase to make a deposit through the ATM machine when I discovered someone else’s debit card in the card slot. After I finished with my deposit, I tried the door to go upstairs so I can give John Doe’s debit card to a Chase employee. Unfortunately, it was 6:10pm and the bank closed at 6pm. Luckily after a few minutes of waiting, a Chase employee came down the escalator to unlock the door so the people behind her can leave the bank.
Despite telling her that I found someone’s debit card in machine, she slammed the door in my face and told me I could chuck the card in the trash. Baffled, I kept knocking on the door until she finally unlocked it and took the card.
Ugh it still irks me that she instructed me to throw a debit card in the trash! I’m definitely never going back to this Times Square branch.

I gave this bank a 2 star rating, because I go in regularly, and there are actually a couple of tellers that are really nice and attentive. The rest of the tellers are just rude, or they think they’re funny by being sarcastic. This was my opinion on a conversation I heard going n between a teller and another customer just asking a simple question. Then there is always this one man that just walks around and does nothing. I go to this branch almost every day to do business deposits. And most of the time, I wait in the business line and get called immediately. But whenever there is this one teller (nametag: Athena) or manager or whatever position she holds, she always tells me that there’s no one for the business line and I have to wait for the entire regular line is called before they call me, because she said they were there first (not all of them). I told her I’m here to do a business deposit, not a personal one, which she said it doesn’t matter, there is no one here doing only business deposts. They need to learn better customer service at this branch. Rather than their weird looks they give their customers, how about getting some of those people walking around doing absolutely nothing, behind the counter and give the other tellers a little help. Then maybe they can use the business line for what it’s for and I can get back to work, otherwise just get rid of the business line. Because clearly some of the tellers don’t care if you’re a business account holder or not.

We needed to cash in some travelers checks on a Saturday, and yay, Chase was open until 3pm!
TRAVELERS CHECK CASHING:
They cashed them in for free, and we’re not even members.
SERVICE:
There was a small line and the teller was friendly.
OVERALL:
Great hours and conveniently located near Times Square.

Of all the banking branches I’ve been to, this was definitely the best in terms of service. Their private client banking folks are actually very helpful and pay good attention to their customer’s needs. I also had a very good experience dealing with the tellers and most importantly, they take care of all my transactions in a very timely manner. Unlike the Citibank that I used to bank at, this place actually has short waiting times and the folks I dealt with are all very knowledgeable, which helps speed up the process.
I know this is located in the middle of tourist central, but surprisingly — they get the job done here well, and more. Usually I’m not a big fan of dealing with bank employees, but it’s definitely an exception to the rule here.

I visited this Chase branch today because I needed to roll some of my old 401ks into an IRA and I also wanted to switch from HSBC over to Chase due to the ridiculous amount of Chase ATMs in NYC and the lack of HSBC machines causing me to be continuously charged a $ 3 fee every time I used a non-​HSBC ATM. I met with two people and had a fantastic experience.
For my checking and savings transfer I met with Veena Prithiani and she was great. We also ended up opening up a new credit card under the account and she transferred an existing balance of mine with 0% interest for 15 months. For my IRA /​investments, I met with Michelle Adler who was very professional and informative most importantly! She took the time to explain to me what an IRA is and just basic investment knowledge that I really didn’t have. I would highly recommend asking for her if you’re looking for someone that is cheerful and professional at the same time.
