I will say the food was good, especially for a lunch visit on Jan 232016, the day of «Snowmageddon». I liked the fries and the fish sandwich was excellent. My only problem was the guy who was running the register and taking orders was literally yelling at customers who were claiming their orders were not right. One customer was getting yelled at with his 6 year old son at his side. He also yelled at the lady working in the back. The yelling is really no way to run a business like this if you ask me.

I realize it’s fast food but it’s amazing fast food. Favorites include the Baconzilla, Deep Sea Double, the seasoned fries, and the ice cream sundaes. Truly one of my guilty pleasures.

I really don’t eat a lot of fast food. One night I didn’t want to cook and I was around the neighborhood so I decided to try out the double checker burger with cheese and crispy flaky fish. The burger was nothing special but the crispy flaky fish was not bad. Since I am not a fan I fast food, not sure I will go again but if I do, I will eat the fish again.

Late night eats in Hamilton Heights Can’t go wrong with any of the monster themed menu items like baconzilla or monsterella fries. Ask the guys at the register for recommendation; they won’t steer you wrong. Oh, and do yourself a favor. Get a shake. I got vanilla. The perfect thing to wash down the burg and fried chicken sammich. Unilocal says its open til 2 am… It is definitely open later than that on Saturday nights. My friends and I were still there at 2:45 and new customers were coming in. There is adequate seating to eat there, over half the tables were empty when I was there but it was still pretty busy.

Service is hit or miss here. I generally love the wings and the shakes aren’t half bad either. This location features a mix of college students and a variety of gentrified locals. Good luck on your burgers.

Wish I could give a 3.5… It goes up to four in comparison to other fast food joints plus the convenience of being able to walk out of the subway and into the restaurant(although this dangerous temptation late night should knock off a star). It stays at 3 because, well it’s fast food. Relatively new… so still clean with an attentive staff. Hope it stays that way. As for the food… better than the major chains, but definitely not better than the«indie» chains like In ‘n Out. Really like the seasoned fries. Big plus for being open til 4am!

Conveniently located at the entrance to the 145th Street A-train Stop, this Checkers makes for a nice addition to this neighborhood. At a corner that’s frequented by City College students and neighborhood residents going to and from the IND subway station, it’s a good, clean and brightly lit fast food place to grab a quick bite to eat. The staff here seems really friendly, the place appears to be relatively well kept at all times, and the food is as good as you’ll get at any of the other burger chains in the city. This was my first time eating at a Checkers and although I knew that they were not one of the top three burger chains, I did walk away impressed by how much was on their menu. Not just burgers, but mozzarella sticks, Philly cheese steaks and much more. I really liked their seasoned fries and I suspect that I will be stopping by often just for more of them. On the other hand though, I’d have to say that I’ve tasted better burgers elsewhere. Although I have to admit that they are very well seasoned. But considering that there’s a lot to choose from on the menu, I don’t think they’ll be much of a problem finding something to go along with those great fries. Open until 4:00AM!
