Used to come here at least once a week when I worked in the area. The sweet and sour pork is really good if you can handle a sweet meal — and the lunch special makes it affordable. If you’re looking to be on the healthier side, I highly recommend the chow mein. Don’t get the eggrolls and try to avoid the pork fried rice.

Food delivery took an hour, the shrimp lo mein for almost $ 10 tasted appalling, of which the only flavor recognizable was the one of salt, or rather msg. The wonton soup was also unappealing, the wonton skin was thick and hard with the filling surprisingly hard and lacked any taste of meat at all. The soup it was sitting in tasted again like drinking brine. Would definitely not recommend eating here. The only redeemable thing that allows it 1 star is the portion size of the lo mein. Though since it is so salty, you’d probably wouldn’t want to eat it anyways, and the garbage can is where mine went.

This place used to be great. This place is disgusting they have no respect they knock on your door so hard. You tip the delivery guy well and he stands there looking at you like he wants a $ 20 tip. They mess your order up and then when you call them back they laugh at you. The food is never hot it’s always warm. They have one delivery guy with many orders. I receive my food like it just finished doing a Zumba class. Do yourself a favor go to chipotle or your fancy smancy chinese food and spend the money it will be worth it.

Awesome fried rice. Their house special lo mein is delicious. Wait time is about the same as any other Chinese take-out but the food is worth the wait. Call in your order before picking it up

Food isn’t bad, and quite reasonably priced. Caters to lowest common denominator, however, and certainly not a place you’d want to sit down and consume your meal. I have been pretty much a regular, stopping in for take-out on my way home from work or ordering in once a week or so. Tonight I went in and was the only person waiting at the counter. The cashier woman taking orders — apparently the only employee authorized to do so — took two VERY extensive phone orders lasting a total of 10 minutes while I stood there — she never even acknowledged me or said the perfunctory, «I’ll be with you in a minute,» and I was standing RIGHTINFRONTOFHER. After she finally hung up on the second call, she went over to the 4-view security(?) video monitor and had a long discussion with another indolent worker about what was going on in various parts of this tiny, crummy joint. STILL I was not acknowledged or waited on. I said, «Hello?», then loudly, «HELLO? Can I be waited on now?!» — to zero response. I then walked out. Stupid, clueless woman, I’ll never go back — too many other choices in the neighborhood. Plus, since I had so much time to look around, I decided it doesn’t look all that clean in there. Obviously, it’s best to phone for delivery. You get the best service and don’t have to see the filthy environment in which your food is prepared.

I’ve lived in NY almost my entire life, so I consider myself a decent enough judge of Chinese food. And I’m sorry to say, this place just doesn’t make the cut. My egg roll was flavorful, and my fried rice was very good, but the lo mein sunk the entire meal. Bland, mediocre, offensively boring – all descriptions that would apply. I consider lo mein to be a Chinese food staple, and this joint just cannot deliver. Plus they have a B health rating. Bottom line: given the profusion of decent Chinese places(with«A» ratings to boot), I’d pass on this restaurant.

Ordered sesame chicken and Lomein from here so nothing too wild. It was good! I’d recommend here for basic greasy Chinese take out

Just had their hot & sour soup and they claim they don’t use MSG… but i definitely got an MSG reaction. I think they are lying. Be careful! Grand Sichuan across the street is FAR superior. THEIR food is exceptional! Golden Wok is only good for things like boneless ribs and wings… their regular dishes are inferior.

This is the only place from which I order Chinese take-out in Manhattan. The service and food are excellent although I wouldn’t fine-in. I’m not sure where I’d go if they weren’t around.

Some of the better Chinese around here. Quick and friendly staff. Inexpensive — potions are a bit small, but for some reason Chelsea Chinese is always on the smaller side potions. Compared to other neighborhoods– where you can get a lot of food for the same price. Overall your ok take out greasy Chinese.

Seems they just changed hands. Sorry to see the old owners gone. They were there many years & were always nice to me. They would even remember my quirks. New folks have installed a POS system, the volume of which is way too loud. Maybe credit cards & on line ordering will follow, but I saw no printer. They all seemed so anxious, the first few days, so I’ll give them a retry in a few weeks & see how they settle in.

Absolutely horrible! We were staying in at a friends place in the village and ordered from this place. i know Chinese is always hit and misss but this place was gross! We threw most of it out it was so bad! dumplings were super doughy and almost seemed uncooked or old. the chow mein was tasteless, best thing was the fortune cookie. never again

Overally, the food is good. You get a lot of food for a decent price and it doesn’t taste terrible. The service, on the other hand, was lacking. The guy checking us out was really nice, but the lady behind him organizing the people and getting people in and out came off as a little rude. But it is just a normal take out place.

My taste is somewhere between the guy who thinks Spring Rolls are the bomb, and the person that goes all the way out to Flushing to prove a point. Basically, im the lazy man’s Flushing. Golden Wok is what you expect from not-Chinatown. The food is mostly meh, but they make a mean Hot and Sour soup.

So it’s my first time ordering from this place and I can’t say I was too pleased. First it took about 45 minutes for my food to be delivered which is a bit odd since I live down the street, but okay no big deal. Then the delivery guy gets here and I hand him a 20 for my 12 dollar order he then hands me my food and starts to run down the stairs when I stop him to tell him I need change he gets an attitude and has the audacity to call me cheap. I mean I can be frugal at times but even if I wasn’t I didn’t plan on tipping him 8 dollars. So after about 90 second of him sharing his thoughts of outrage with me for only tipping him three dollars he leaves and not a moment too soon because I was ready to kick him down the stairs with no tip. So I closed the door a little irritated but happy none the less since my food had finally arrived. But wait, it gets worst! To add insult to injury the veggies in my lo-mien were cold and raw which leads me to believe that they use frozen veggies instead of fresh or that dry lo-mien was old. My orange chicken was very mediocre to say the least. The one and only positive thing I can say about this place and their food is that I really enjoyed my egg roll other than that I will never order from this place again.

This is not the first time I ordered from the place. This loud delivery guy comes up to my apt with a bill of $ 19.00… Out of kindness, I returned to my apt to grab some extra tips for him. Then he claimed I never gave him the first $ 20 Bill, Which I am 1000% sure I gave to him. After wasting 30 mins arguing with him and his boss over the phone, he left with the food. Now I am pissed because, i pretty much got robbed by the delivery guy. Mad and No Longer hungry, I walked 3 Avenues to the restaurant and tried to explain to the owner how upset I am. And demand my $ 20 back from the delivery guy, At the end They offer NO apology, so I left … P. S. after actually being there at the restaurant, I realized how gross the place is … definitely won’t order from them again.

One of the cheapest and best Chinese takeaways I have had in NY. Great value and very quick delivery. The only annoying thing is that they dont take credit cards.

For cheap and fast Chinese I always order from Golden Wok. Delivery to my place on 23rd is about 15 – 20 minutes, and the prices are *so* cheap! I also appreciate the size options. When I order Chinese it usually seems like too much food but at Golden Wok I order a small and it is the perfect size for one person. The food may not be top quality, organic, or local, but on a weekday evening when you don’t feel like making dinner and can’t decide on what take-out to get– choose Golden Wok.

Yes, Morimoto is few blocks down but you want ghetto chinese food. This is THE ghetto chinese food in Chelsea. I’m 100% sure fried chicken and french fries is not cooked in the mainland. hahaha(BTW really good fried chicken.) They never screwed my order. The hot and sour soup is the best! You can taste the fresh ingredients like scallions and mushrooms. Their broccoli is always fresh. Love the ribs! It is what it is but they did get an A from NYC rating system. 4 and not 5 because it’s a hole in the wall and you can’t eat there because of their small size. You down with OPP?(Yeah you know me) You down with OPP?

Keeping it simple and fast, Chelsea Golden Wok is my fast food Chinese restaurant of choice. I frequently get the following: Lg Beef Fried Rice– a mix of fried rice with green peas and carrots, scellion and eggs if you request it. It is some of the best fried rice I have had. Lg Chicken Fried Rice-a mix of fried rice with green peas and carrots, scellion. The chicken is usually more bland, but the flavor of the rice makes up for it. Chicken Wings– Always done right ! Half Chicken– Crispy and nice chicken Sesame Chicken– The sesame chicken is so sweet and saucy with the sprinkled sesame seeds. Small pieces of broccoli and white rice come with the order.
