Perfect food, service is personal which is nice, low price and high quality. They make it all on premises, to perfection

Delicious. I work a block away and get lunch to go here atleast 1 – 2 times/week. The falafel pita is $ 7 and really filling. Flavours are fresh and tasty. The complimentary salad bar has pickled veggies and I’ve become a huge fan of the pickled cabbage, carrots, eggplants etc.

I stopped by for a quick lunch yesterday, and I can’t believe that I didn’t find Chopita sooner! For just $ 7, I got the freshest falafel pita sandwich that I have had. Even the bread was delicious! And with every sandwich order one is given a small container to be filled at the salad bar, so I also enjoyed an array of chopped and pickled vegetables. You really can’t beat either the quality or the prices here!

One of my go-to lunch spots during the work week. If you are looking for authentic Mediterranean/Israeli Falafel, Shwarma, Kebab, etc — this is the place you want to go. All the staff is Israeli and you can tell they take pride in serving food that is true to where they come from. It better be, because the Israeli Embassy is a couple blocks away, so those employees would certainly tell the difference. When they ask if you want«spicy»(which means Harissa sauce), definitely ask for some, even if it’s a little bit — adds a lot of flavor. Every meal comes with a free salad bar which has typical mediterranean salads — pickled veggies, delicious olives, carrot salad, etc. Limited seating, but definitely a good spot for take out if you’re looking for a quick bite to take back with you to your office or to the nearby Tudor City Gardens, which I highly recommend for a nice break away from the chaos of Midtown.

After reading such great and positive reviews of Chopita, I decided to make my way there to try it out for lunch one day. When I arrived, the line was already out the door and the great smell coming from the kitchen only made me more eager to try the food. The place is extremely tiny as is the kitchen so be prepared to wait 10 – 15 minutes for your food. For the amount of food you get(chicken shawarma and a container for the salad bar) Chopita is very well priced and generous with the portion size. They exemplified just how great Mediterranean food can be in the U.S. and I will definitely be going back there.

Excellent Israeli restaurant in Midtown. It’s like this place was transported from the boardwalk in Tel Aviv to NY. Friendly family owned place, quick delivery(especially on seamless), and delicious. Try a lamb kabob laffa, babaghanoush, and some baklava. Enjoy

Really more of a 2.5, but I’ll round up. Maybe I just caught them on a bad day because I really wasn’t impressed. Falafel was mushy and flavorless. It needed some garlic, some black pepper, ANYTHING. Same with the hummus. Without pickles, my sandwich would have been completely bland. The salad bar included with the sandwich was nice — love the olives — but it’s such a tiny storefront and service was so slow that I can’t imagine actually eating in there. To be honest, Naya on Third Avenue is better.

Being from Israel, Shawarma is to us what the Hamburger is to Americans. I have eaten Shawarma in many joints all over NYC and let me tell you this is as close as it gets to authentic juicy and flavorful Shawarma as you can get in NYC. They even have a small salad bar with free refills and they give you a thick pita with tons of meats and vesggies inside unlike some of the other places where the pitas are quite thin and give you a small portion. Their Shawarma is identical in taste to Israel and is a welcome reminder of home. I am hooked and recommend everyone with a meat crave to go there for great Shawarma regardless of if you are from Israel. Way to go Chopita!

The falafel baguette is huge. You get to fill a container from the salad/fixings bar. Not light.

Still working on a shawarma salad, with pita, that was enough to feed 2 if not 3 people… so I guess the $ 14 I paid for it is justified. They give you a bowl with a small bed of lettuce already in it, tell you to take whatever you like at the open salad bar, then bring it back to the grill so they can load it even further with pickled this and that, hummus and an enormous load of meat. Beware the hot sauce. It took the mild one(green) but the small taste I took of it is still stinging. It’s a tiny place with room for 3 at the window counter to sit and eat in, so takeout is your best option since it does get crowded.

Wow! Very fresh and flavorful. Ordered the chicken shawarma on fresh pita(not bagged supermarket pita like some of the other places nearby). The order came with a small token fresh salad bar selection w/your choice of pickles, cabbage, stewed carrots, a corn, cucumber and onion«slaw» mix and other items. The chicken is so fresh and tender — I usually prefer kabob because shawarma can sometimes be greasy but not here — cooked perfectly and not greasy at all. The lamb kebab on lafa bread(a huge pita they roll the ingredients into rather than a pita where they’ll slice a pocket and stuff with the ingredients) looked absolutely amazing as the cook was preparing it so I will definitely be trying that next time. This spot blows away at least two other shawarma/falafel places in the immediate area and it is on par with the excellent Lebanese spot, Naya Express, on 3rd Avenue nearby. It’s a shoebox of a place so everyone’s on top of each other, especially by the tiny salad bar, but this is life in NYC during lunchtime so you deal with it. The cashier remembers what you order so she’ll yell out to you when your order is up and the cook will ask you what ingredients you want inside your choice of pita, lafa or baguette bread. They have schnitzel too so I’ll give that a try on my third visit. 50% off on their sandwiches if you order after 4:00pm for all of you who are in back-to-back meetings all day and can’t escape until early dinner hours.

I had the Shawarma from here, and while it was OK, I’ve had much, much better. I do like the fact that you get to choose your side/salad fixings. Seating stinks; you pretty much have to take your food to go as there were only 3 – 4 stools.

Five stars for this restaurant. Having lived in Israel and returned to the US, I’ve long craved shawarma, not the shit gyros that plague this country. I’m glad I finally found the place… the pargiot(baby chicken) shawarma is as good as any in Israel, and that’s a high standard to meet.

Very basic menu that hits all the highlights of Israeli fast food. Having been to Israel on several occasions and in love with the cuisine, this is a very welcome addition to the neighborhood. While a little pricey the food here would definitely stand up in Israel as the real deal. I have been twice recently, getting the shawarma in both a pita and a laffa. Both variations of the bread were very fresh and tasty as are the chummus and condiments. When you get to the actual shawarma meat, the fun really begins. The young chicken is extremely flavorful and cooked to perfection. The meat is both crispy at times as well as very tender and juicy. One of my co-workers is from Turkey and said that the lamb kabob he ordered was the best he has ever had in the states. A note of caution, the platters and salad portions are very large. Overall, the best shawarma I have had outside the holy land…

I’m gonna keep this brief: Craving shawarma on a Sunday, many places in Midtown East are closed, but not Chopita! Ordered the chicken shawarma plate – comes with a pita, a small cup for the salad bar, and a fairly large portion of meat, salad, and hummus(though the whole thing is $ 14). Decent tasting, and ’twas a grand helping of chicken, but way too salty and I couldn’t finish all of it because of the saltiness. I’ll probably try the other places around me on a weekday instead. ps-the store itself is small(only one long table so it appeared), so delivery or takeout.

Needed somewhere to grab a bite around 9:30 on a Sunday night. I live right near Chopita, so I decided to give it a try. Staff was very friendly and food was made fresh to order. I ordered a grilled chicken pita sandwich, which was made with fresh chicken and placed onto a grill and then arranged in a pita. My male escort for the night got a falafel sandwich and again, the falafels were made by hand and placed into a deep fryer. Reason for the 4 stars is that the salad bar was looking rather bleak and could’ve used some freshening up. Overall, I would definitely come back to Chopita and try it again.

A little corner of Israel in Midtown Manhattan. I was walking by when I casually noticed this restaurant. I was craving something flavorful but not heavy. I’m also a huge fan of Israeli food. This place did not disappoint. It was simply phenomenal. I ordered the shawarma on baguette to-go(as opposed to the more conventional choice of pita, just to try something new). Chopita’s staff will carve out the meat as you order and then customize your sandwich so it’s just the way you like it. Ordering this gives you access to their salad bar for free. The shawarma was made with young chicken. Perfectly tender and superbly seasoned. Piled high on the baguette with your choice of toppings — I went with hummus and a spicy mango sauce. It was my first time having young chicken and I was blown away by the taste. One of the best shawarmas I’ve ever had(liked it more than turkey shawarma, which is quite common in Israel). I was given a plastic container to store my veggies from the salad bar in(though I would have preferred more than one, as it was a bit small and I would have liked to separate the flavors; the main reason though was because the pickled veggies were delicious). I stocked up on carrot salad with jalapeños, cucumbers with corn and dill, and red cabbage. Complemented the shawarma very well. They were light and crunchy(I’m glad Israeli cuisine doesn’t drown coleslaw in mayonnaise). And grape leaves too! Seating is a bit limited(they have a few seats at a counter overlooking the street), but my sandwich was well-suited for takeout(the bread was still crunchy); the staff have aluminum wrap to keep the food warm. My sandwich came down to $ 13 but it was a very generous portion(sandwich was about a foot-long and was pretty hearty). This is as good as it gets when it comes to casual Israeli food! Can’t say enough good things about Chopita.
