This place helped me survive in NYC after I graduated and struggled to find a job. They provided me the opportunity to be exposed to a wide range of projects in the fields I’m interested in. I couldn’t be more thankful for this place. I worked with both Karen and Doug, who provided me with excellent long-​term temporary placements and shared my resume out to companies of interest to me that were hiring for full-​time, permanent positions (which I later had successful interviews with).
I think one of the best parts about the people who work there is that they are not pushy at all. I have had less-​than-​stellar situations going through pushy, obnoxious head hunters who think they know what you want better than you do. Well, rest assured: none of the staff at Core are like that. There have been plenty of times I’ve told Karen I wasn’t interested in something, and she completely understood without pushing anything AND took the time to look for opportunities relevant to my interests.
Although I’ve only went through Core once over a six-​month period, I would not hesitate to reach out to them again if I ever find myself out of full-​time employment. Would definitely recommend for any type of employment: short-​term, long-​term, or full-​time/​permanent.

In the past two years I’ve gone to Core 3 times. Unfortunately, things occasionally happen where companies declare bankruptcy or you decide you want to travel for half a year, but no matter the circumstances, Core can find something good for you, and extremely quickly at that. And by quickly, I mean a day or two.
I think over time, working with Core, they get to know more about you as a person and your character, and as far as job placement is concerned, that can only be a good thing. Thanks again to Doug Samberg! You’re THE BEST!

I have been working with Core for the last year and a half, specifically Debrah. I have to say that this has definitely been my best experience with a staffing agency thus far.
One thing that I really appreciate about them is that the jobs are in great industries for great companies; Penguin Random House, Estee Lauder, Ford Foundation, NARS, and so many more.
I really appreciated that even if Debrah didn’t have a position for me she always communicated with me and she was and still is very supportive. I interviewed with lots of places and was eventually placed in my current position, which I genuinely love.
I will say that people need to be mindful that getting a job is a combination of your skills and what the agency has to offer. I have a great resume and references and it still took me almost a year to be placed. So have patiences, they can’t guarantee you a job, but they can definitely get you in the door to places you may have never even considered which was what happened to me.
I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a career, because I truly feel like they can help you find one.

Core Rocks! They are hardcore bunch of recruiters that give you a more personalized touch when helping you find a job. You’re not just a number. They actually care and want you to find the best match. But looking for a job, as most of you know, is not easy. You have to work hard and focus in order to find the right fit. Unfortunately in my past I have had some bad luck when it has come to employment. The recession, a merger of two companies, and being put on furlough. But Core recognized my work ethic and dedication to finding the right role. I would love to give the credit to just one person, but honestly, my experience with Core felt more like a team effort. I would even go as far to say that I felt sometimes they knew what was best for me before I could even realize it.

As an actor, finding enough employment to get you food on the table but also still allows you to pursue the actual reason you came to New York in the first place can be very, very difficult. Catherine at Core actually listened and understood what I needed and helped me find something that worked for me. If things change, she’s always ready to help me navigate what I’ll need next. I highly recommend speaking with her!

When I was job searching as a youth right out of college Core Staffing came up on my search radar very quickly. I will keep this quick and concise, they were more than willing to help me find a job fitted to my skill set and I believe Douglas was the person that handled my portfolio and he was the definition of professional and human.
Human meaning he understood my background and my need to be employed. Although I did manage to get a job outside of the agency’s assistance I will always remember the professionalism I encountered here and would suggest any of my peers looking for a staffing agency that is dependable and respected, this one would be it.

I’ve been with Core for 3 years on again off again between artistic endeavors, and they have supported me with much more than an occasional paycheck, but rather peace of mind. Natalie and Karen specifically, are sensitive to my situation as an actor. So often artists are swallowed up by unemployment OR committed to a Full time job that doesn’t allow for their personal goals to flourish. Finding a balance is no easy task. I’ve written Natalie and Karen countless times over the years with revised updates to my availability and I have always been supported morally and fiscally. When I need work, they try and find it for me. Sometimes there’s plenty, other times there’s not, but I always have agency in deciding if something is right for me without judgment. When I have been away for 6 months on contract, or had my schedule change from week to week, they roll with it in a way that gives me peace of mind, rare in an industry as brutal as the arts. I can’t speak from the perspective of someone seeking a permanent full time job, but they fully understand the artists dilemma. I’ve even left places of employment that were ideal but not right for me, and they did not dismiss me but respected my needs and kept sending me out. Many other agencies would not do that. What I’ve gathered is that they want basic professionalism and courtesy in employees ranging from those with bare basic experience to those who are highly qualified and if you are dependable so are they. Some of the reviews are hard to believe, I can only think (at least with Natalie and Karen who I know– I can’t speak for the others) is that if they didn’t consider you at all or whatsoever after being interviewed, there may be something in your professional demeanor to re-​evaluate? It’s vital to be honest with yourself during difficult economic times and make small adjustments that show they would want to represent you. Back to the arts: Having professionals who respect what you do as an artist while supporting financial needs by providing flexible work is just invaluable.

I came to New York City with a one way ticket, two overly stuffed bags, and no idea what I was doing. After trying several other agencies that shall remain nameless, I found myself at Core Staffing’s front door. They took me in, not only as a client, but as family. They wanted to know who I was and asked about my life goals. Natalie Leonard and the other staff at Core made sure that this small town boy from Texas didn’t get eaten alive by the big city. They worked hard to find my perfect fit. Their connections are next to none. I have been happily placed in a permanent job for 3 years, and I know that I could not have done this with out them. Their guidance, support, and ingenuity transformed this city for me. Thank you all!!!

Just wrote this on CORE’s other page as well… I visit the Midtown Office most of the time but here’s my two cents:
CORE is great! I had never ever heard of temp staffing before moving to the city back in August. I’m an artist in the theatre and Core came highly recommended from my creative friends. I submitted an application and Natalie, who took me on, set me up with an interview within the week. There we assessed my clerical and customer service skills and set out to find work that fulfilled my scheduling needs and career goals. Immediately I was going out on job interviews and fulfilling temp spots where needed. Within a month I had a full time position with great pay.
The two really great things about CORE are:
1.) They care. The folks who represent you genuinely care about your interests and your performance at a job. They work to cater to each candidate’s strengths and communicate opportunities as they come.
2.) They’re flexible. As long as you actively communicate with Core you can either work to find a full time position or maintain a flexible schedule, picking up a shift here or there. As long as you communicate your availability and actively pronounce your interest in getting work on specified days (i.e. calling their offices in the morning to fill any potential openings) you’ll get work. Guarantee you. And when you actively pursue, they notice, and they respond.
So I’m incredibly happy I found CORE and that they took care of me. I’ve got a great gig as a Receptionist, I’m building upon my clerical and interpersonal skills in an professional environment, and I’m taken care of. What more could you ask for in the hustle that is New York?

Most recruiters generally bring in candidates to try and get information about past employers — which equals leads for the recruiters. This agency is one of those. The recruiter, CG, who contacted me via email after posting a blind ad online, would not talk to me on the phone claiming she was too busy and wanted me to come into the office. A real, professional recruiter would be happy to discuss a job on the phone first if the candidate requested. I only work with the best agencies and this one is not.

Terrible services. At first, I thought this would be a promising service especially since Core Staffing Agency was the first to contact me and not the other way around. The representative that I was paired with was seemingly helpful during our initial meeting, but I soon realized that they are of no help.
Also, when I contacted my rep, they hardly ever reply. The last time I checked-​in with them, I got an automatic reply saying the person is out of the office. Today, when I called to ask about my representative and report how unhelpful they have been, the front desk assistant was totally dismissive would not allow me to file a report with the rep’s supervisor. Totally unprofessional and the receptionist was trying to save the rep’s ass (from my standpoint).
Just do your jobs people and that’s helping other’s find jobs. If I am not a good candidate for clients who look at my resume, then maybe we (as a team) should work closely together in order for me to obtain a temp/​full time position. Maybe re-​working my resume or ways in which to sell and brand myself.
This service has not helped me at all and although other people might have had a terrific experience, you have to decide for yourself. Maybe I’m in the wrong industry or went to school for the wrong thing. But they won’t tell you that. They’ll lead you on.

I have had the pleasure of working with Allison for several years now. She is one of the very few recruiters I have met along my journey that cares about you and not the sale she makes from you. Allison is honest from the beginning and will not force a job on you that simply does not fit the description of your ideal role. She has the great matchmaking sense and positive attitude that makes you walk into an interview already feeling like a winner. I continuously find myself sending people in Allison’s direction. Your not just another person in a database, you are a person with an identity. Follow up on the suggestions and guidance Allison provides and you will find success!

Great job opportunities

I was unhappy where I was working and decided to give Doug a call because of his reviews on Unilocal.As soon as I spoke with him he set something up for me to come in the next day. Not only did I he have something for me that same day but it also paid well over what I was asking. If your looking for a job — Go see Doug! He’s amazing.

I recently moved back to NY from CA. I contacted a few reputable agencies and registered via their online portal, I didn’t get any response so I Emailed them directly, still no response so I called and basically the receptionist said someone will contact me… no one did!!! (I’m not going to name company’s)
Then I decided to go on Unilocal and came upon Core Staffing as it had the highest number of reviews and highest rating (16 reviews and 4stars), that’s considered really good since it is not a food vendor/​restaurant.
I first registered online, OMG, that seriously took like 2mins to complete compared to the other agencies where it can take close to One hour. After I registered and uploaded my resume, I called Core and got Doug Samberg on the line. I introduced myself, he gave me his direct Email address and ask me to fwd my resume to him, he quickly responded to my Email and questions/​answers were sent back and forth as if we were chatting online. He quickly scheduled me to meet him. Our meeting was like 10mins long if that much. We quickly went through my resume, asked me what I’m looking for and he told me the many opportunities that were available at the moment and asked me which ones I would be interested in. After our meeting, he called me within 2hrs and got me an interview the next day. In a span of a total of 2 weeks, he got me interviews with 3 companys, I got hired with the 2^nd company and did not even need to go on the 3^rd company’s interview because I liked the 2^nd company that much!
Doug Samberg is a very efficient Recruiter. He speaks fast, feed information to you fast, gets you interviews fast and gets you hired even faster! Lets be real, you also need to be someone the employer feels is a good match (ie. skills, personality, experience, etc), if you are not, you can’t expect Core Staffing to work Miracles!

I’m presently workiing with the AARP Foundation (temporary internship) and I am looking forward to return to Core. I was with Core throughout the late eighties and early ninety’s, and can’t say enough of the professionalism and class as well as outstanding assignments I was presented witih. They probably don’t remember me (hopefully they will still have me on file). Looking forward to working with them again.

Core is AMAZING. What you need to keep in mind when working for an agency is that there are a lot of moving parts — the right fit for you and the right fit for the client. I had very, very specific needs — special hours, location and high salary demands. Unlike other agencies that come to you with something so outrageous, you know they’re just looking to place you and get their $$, or place «doorbuster» ads that don’t even exist but get you in the door, this agency is honest and works with integrity.
Core tried the BEST to check all of my must-​have boxes. I worked mostly with Randi Gold and a bit with Doug Samberg. They call you early, don’t make you feel guilty for saying «no», always professional and responsive. This is a cohesive team that works together to get you what you need. Try Core and you won’t be disappointed!!!

I’m reading bad reviews from other Unilocalers, but I have to disagree. I could see why they wrote the things they did, but from my past experiences, it’s all about finding the staffing/​recruiting agency that you’re comfortable with.
You definitely have to look around to find one that has recruiters that you trust, and you also have to be really patient as they come to know what type of employee you are. Just because you say you are a good employee doesn’t mean you are one, right?
It’s also not a bad idea to work with more than one agency at a time so that you can get in more jobs. It also depends on what you’re looking for at the moment too. I mean, they only get so many job listings, and it’s their job to find someone who will best suit the role. They certainly aren’t going to send anyone and everyone to their current job openings.
Anyway, my experience at CORE was awesome. It took them about a month or two to get the ball rolling, but once I started to go in for jobs, the jobs kept coming in. I personally worked with Catherine Giametta, but I believe all the recruiters work together as a team.
Finally after about two months of temporary one-​day jobs, they helped me find a more long-​term job that I am absolutely so grateful for. They knew my situation, knew what I was looking for, and they helped me find a job that fit my lifestyle.
You have to realize that working with a recruiting agency is not going to guarantee a job. They can get you interviews, but that doesn’t mean that you’re going to get hired. That’s up to the employer that is hiring, and it’s up to you as well!
Anyway, I highly recommend CORE Staffing. They are pretty awesome.

Core is awesome. Everyone I dealt with was professional and friendly (even the building doorman!). Paychecks, emails, answers to questions — everything was prompt and efficient. Everyone knew what they were doing. Pretty rare in this world!
As you can guess by their Wall St. location, the majority of the positions they offer are administrative, and almost all are in Manhattan. They have temp, temp-​to-​perm, and permanent positions. As a temp you are technically a Core employee, paid through the agency, who bills the company you’re temping at for your salary plus Core’s cut of it.
At your Core «interview» (which they require so their clients know Core isn’t sending them crazies), you chat with a recruiter about what you’re looking for and then take some computer proficiency tests. These are annoying but luckily you can also opt to take them at home.
I had just returned from a year abroad, and after a month of bemoaning my lack of connections and how unfair the world was, I sent my resume to Core out of a desire to «just do something! anything!» while going on with my job search. I met with a recruiter and said I was looking for perm and temp-​to-​perm, but she said, «Actually if you’re available immediately, I have a 3-​month gig that might be good for you starting Monday! Let me send them your resume!» I was OK’ed and started working 4 days from my first visit to Core. And that temp position ended up leading to my permanent one at a great company. Yay!
Other pluses: You can access all your paystubs and submit timesheets online. The space itself is sleek and clean (though I didn’t like being interviewed in the cube farm while someone else got a private office.) I don’t have experience with other employment agencies but from start to finish Core was just fantastic.
