I have been to Da Marino on many occasion and the experience is always well worth the visit. From the moment you walk in the door it’s an experience. The service was ok and we found the food pretty mediocre. We we really expecting more and left disappointed.

This place is the best ! We stayed next door at the Crowne Plaza back in September and loved being so close to this beautiful restaurant. The owner and staff were so friendly each time we came in and gave us delicious samples. The chocolate fettuccine is AMAZING! The music is great and they even give you morocco’s to join in. We ate at a lot of high end places and this was by far the BEST food we had during our trip. Thanks so much to everyone there for making such good memories for my friends and I.

This restaurant is amazing! This is my second time coming here and that’s because we couldn’t get enough the first time. The food is impeccable and the service is outstanding. This quaint, Italian Piano bar is extraordinary in all aspects and one of New York’s hidden gems. This would be great for any occasion; date, family dinner, or even a night to yourself. They know how to exceed your expectations. Be sure to check out Da Marino! You won’t regret it!

This place was beyond incredible! I don’t have enough good things to say about it! We were walking past Da Marino looking for any Italian restaurant and the manager lures us in saying he will give us a round of drinks. We walk in and it’s a beautiful little place with brick walls and gorgeous murals of Italy with Christmas lights on the ceiling. There was awesome live music playing that added to the whole experience. The manager was EXTREMELY friendly and so so great! He kept his word and gave my friends and I a drink of our choice. The waiters were also very on top of us and very charismatic! So we’re given our very strong free drink(we were okay with that.) and the manager comes back and tells us he’s going to give us each a tasting of their signature dish which is a chocolate fettuccini with shrimp, «the only place in the world you can get chocolate fettuccini» I believe him… But holy holy… It was the greatest pasta I’ve EVER had. The chocolate flavor wasn’t overwhelming at all and it came with an incredible vodka sauce. I’m looking forward to another trip to New York just to have that pasta again! As much as I LOVED the chocolate fettuccini, I wanted to try something else since I had already tried it. I ordered the chicken francese with Alfredo pasta. The chicken breast was huge and I couldn’t even finish it! It was beyond good. While we were eating, the waiters passed out maracas to shake while the live music played. It was such a fun environment with the awesome waiters singing and dancing too. After we attempted*(keyword) to finish our food, they gave us a round of limoncello shots on the house. We were confused as to who they thought we are! We were treated like royalty! I really could go on and on. The staff here is really what put them over the top! They were all so amazing and welcoming! Every restaurant should take a page from their book! I can’t wait to go back to New York to visit my favorite Italian restaurant in the city!

We walked into this place by chance on our way to a play and were drawn in by the doorman’s politeness and charm. The ambiance had a flare of theater and quaintness. We were greeted inside by the manager and the waitress and both were very attentive to our time constraints. We shared a chicken parmigiana and a mozzarella appetizer. Both were fresh and tasty and were portioned well enough to be shard. If you like quant and family like atmosphere that includes fresh Italian food, recommend checking this place out.

We wandered into Da Marino out of sheer luck! It was our first time visiting and we depended heavily on reviews except on this occasion. The restaurant was in our path and it looked inviting so we took a chance and we are sure glad we did! The food, staff and ambiance were top notch! We all tried different recommended dishes but were most impressed with their signature dish, the chocolate fettuccini. I know, I know, it sounds awful but give it a try… your taste buds will thank you. :) The manager, Tom, was very hospitable. He went out of his way to make sure we had a great experience and even gave us suggestions on other places to eat as well as tips on things that were a «must see» during our visit. Our waiter, Pera, was so very sweet and he took great care of us as well. He is an asset to this establishment. Ask for Pera!

Right by the Eugene O’Neil theatre, we decided to stop for lunch before a matinée show. The food is pretty goood, but the service leaves much to be desired. In all fairness, we did see some servers that were much more friendly, just not ours. All in all, not a bad place, but it is in a basement, so it was really HOT inside.

I didn’t realize this place was #famous until we were seated. You know, famous as in «Sex and the City episode where Big and Carrie dine at an Italian restaurant» famous. Apparently, that’s enough to exempt you from any rules of common courtesy. My friend and I didn’t even want to come here; our first choice(Lillie’s) was too packed, and we needed to kill some time before our show. Enter Da Marino. Wished we’d exited right away too. They insisted on seating us near the bar, right by the freezing door. When we asked if we could move further away, they said no, only diners ordering food could sit in the interior. So yay, pneumonia with my fresh muddled strawberry mojito! Except it wasn’t fresh or well-muddled. And my enjoyment of it was punctuated by ever-ruder interruptions from our awful server who made it clear he thought we were a waste of his time for just ordering drinks.

These are one of the Italian restaurants in the city the are just really fancy and not to mention there are pianists who make your dinner worth going and enjoying the food over there I really love the New York cheesecake that they serve over there it’s really great. And not to mention they have really good entrees and many good second plates to choose from. I would really like to return to this restaurant as soon as possible.

First time in New York. Saw Book of Mormon next door. The friendly guy working the door talked us into coming in. Kind of cool inside — «hole in the wallish» — but loud which isn’t a big deal to us. Should’ve known something was up when the waiter tried to convince us to buy a bottle of wine at a «reduced rate» that would be «good for the joint and for us» — wow. Ordered a glass of wine and a beer. 15 mins later, the wine appeared, no beer; 5 mins later, I finally tracked someone down and they brought it. Now move the clock forward 30 mins, and still no starter salads headed our way. As soon as I finished the beer I was nursing, I grabbed my wife’s hand and out the door we went. Please stay away. This is NYC. As we discovered 10 mins later at a much better restaurant, much better options are out there. PS: they serve some kind of weird lentil concoction with the bread, no butter, no oil and vinegar — bleh — huh? While it tasted OK, it was just weird. Probably should’ve known it would get worse from there.

Shame on me for not reading the recent Unilocal reviews! I am an avid cook and a serious foodie from Houston, on my annual birthday Broadway long weekend. My wife and I visited this restaurant prior to a show tonight. Our experience started and ended poorly. Our waiter, Sidiki, payed scant attention to us. After taking our order, he never returned to check on us until we had completed our meal. It took three reminders, and 15 minutes for him to serve my wife a soft drink. No one returned to refill our water although we finished the bottle halfway through the meal. At the same time, our waiter visited 3 surrounding tables three times each! I had the restuarant’s «signature dish», the Chocolate Fettucini with Shrimp in Vodka Sauce. To start with, the presentation was«sloppy» at best. The pasta was«swimming» in the sauce. While the pasta was cooked perfectly and had good flavor, it was overshadowed by the cloying vodka sauce, and the shrimp were quite overcooked to the point of being rubbery. When Sidiki inquired as to how I enjoyed the meal(at the end of dinner only), I responded that I was somewhat disappointed that more care was not taken in preparing the restuarant’s «signature» dish. He appeared quite offended, as did the manager who asked the same question of me. I explained that I was not being rude, but only being honest. Unfortunately, it appears that the Unilocal rating reflects an abundance of reviews from early 2014 and earlier. The more recent reviews reflect experiences similar to my own. I would strongly recommend passing up this restuarant if you consider yourself a foodie.

We were hoping to eat some yummy Italian food before watching Chicago. Unfortunately, we stumbled upon this restaurant. The piano bar music called us in, but the service and food quality turned us off. Our food came out in about 5 minutes. The pasta was hot, but overly adente/hard. The meatballs were cold in the middle and you could tell were previously frozen. My friends has the pene con salmone… Her response, «it was so so. The sauce took over the salmon and the salmon was shredded and messy.» The waiter did not come back to check on our food till we asked for the check. When I tried to tell him the food was not so good, he just walked away. I can’t believe I actually paid for that food. I am very disappointed.

So disappointed… I wanted to treat my son to a special dinner before seeing Chicago and chose the wrong restaurant. We were seated at a tiny table in the middle of a busy lane of traffic and it was 15 minutes before someone even filled our water glasses, much less greeted us or provided menus. Apparently they were focused on preparing a table for a last minute reservation by Justin Timberlake’s brother and we watched as they furiously set the table(complete with menus and water!) only to be ignored just two feet away. Our waiter, Sudiki finally came by just as we were getting ready to go elsewhere and after we explained our frustration, he apologized and did his best to provide us with a better experience. The food was terrific but we couldn’t help feeling like we just didn’t matter much… despite a nearly $ 100 contribution(in the form of our bill). Sad…

The doorman and menu lured us in, as we noticed the location while walking by to our Broadway show. Although the ambiance/wall paintings were great and certainly made me NOT feel like I was in a basement, the food and service was decent – nothing to get excited about. I’m used to paying $ 100/couple for a nice dinner, but I expect certain details. Sadly, they weren’t delivered, multiple times. The food was great, but the service, noise, bustle and staff plunderings didn’t help me rate them any higher. As a former restaurant manager, I know that sometimes things just don’t go as well as you want… perhaps this was one of those times. If you love Italian, don’t mind eating in a basement, and can’t hear your loved one sitting across the table from you due to noise/singing/staff/loud music, give it a shot.

Bogo happy hour. Service was great, gave us complimentary cheese and olives! Stumbled upon the place and to my wife’s delight found out this is the place«Mr. Big sang to Carrie«. Favorite place so far in NYC

This place was right across from a Broadway show my friend and I were seeing later in the evening. Was this spot our first choice? No, the spot we wanted to go to was full. We came here and upon entering there was already a tussle concerning where we could sit. The only seats left at the bar were right by the freezing cold door. I did not want us to sit there. I immediately vouched for us to sit at a table even though we were only having drinks. We eventually get seated at a table. Our waiter was the worst. A true rude prick. It felt like he was rushing us to get a drink. When we finally ordered, he snapped at me saying ‘I can’t hear you!‘ Yes, there is a a lovely gentleman beside us playing the piano so it’s a bit tough to hear an order I presume. Oh, wait… I can’t hear my wallet wanting to spare you a tip. Yet, I’m not rudely yelling at it. Ha, how funny is that? As the night went on, he was short with my friend and I. He was very unaccommodating & took 10 – 15 minutes to come to our table to ask us if we wanted another drink. He passed us numerous times during that timeframe and he was serving very few drinks. I saw no apps or entrees in his hand so he wasn’t that preoccupied. We decided to just get the check. A shame cause the drinks were tasty and the guy playing piano was amazing and very sweet. Piano man ended up coming over and talking to us inbetween his sets. The waiter’s stank attitude? Minus 4 stars. His mother clearly didn’t teach him manners. Too bad, so sad.

From all outward appearances, this place looks authentic. You have to walk down stairs from the sidewalk and then navigate a really narrow bar area to get to the hostess. At that point you start to notice the dim lights and piles of melted candle wax on the tables. Edward L. and I were really satisfied that we’d discovered a cool Italian NYC restaurant that we could enjoy before going to see«The Book of Mormon.» WRONG! No, ma’am. Nope. It’s not true. LIES! #TouristTrap dot com. For real, real. Not for play, play. Damnit they suckered us. Looking back, I’m really disappointed that two Atlanta Elite Unilocalers weren’t smarter about their dining choices on theatre night. Service was good, but over the top(it’s like they trained the waiters on how to beg for tips). Speaking of service, it’s funny how the guys with Italian accents stopped at the bar. Waiters are just some kids from the Midwest who moved to the big city to chase their dreams. Awe. Both of us got pasta. I don’t know the word for«before al dente» but that’s how it was served. The menu described homemade meatballs, however I received half a bag of previously frozen ones that were bathed in a basic sauce. One extra star for their base sauce, though. It was surprisingly good. I wonder which jar it comes out of? Maybe I can buy it here in Georgia. LOL
