Daniel Lopez, DO

My first visit with Dr. Lopez was great, he took the time to not just listen but when he was working his ‘magic’, he could point out issues I have long forgotten about; Dr. Lopez told me if it were a matter of just pointing out the source of pain, that is the easy part — BUT, I would like to emphasize, the Neurosurgeons and specialists I’ve seen, who I paid a lot of money to see (yes, out of pocket) couldn’t tell me the source of my pain — not exactly! Any treatment they proposed had a ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ chance of helping anything!
According to the ‘Medical Industry’, I’m facing spinal fusion or a life in pain, for debilitating sciatica — the kind where I couldn’t even stand up straight and had to crawl up steps. What kind of choice is that?
I wish traditional American Doctors would open their minds up and think outside the pain box. Most doctors I saw treated me like a drug addict, even though I refused any Rx for painkillers! They look down on patients with chronic pain… well… I am glad my mother pointed me in the direction of Osteopathic treatment. I am happy to have hope. Even if it helps 1% in decreasing the pain… that’s more than what I was offered by other «Doctors».
And, If it results in 100% pain fix… then I will be the industry’s biggest advocate — and so should YOU be, if you are reading this, you are probably suffering with something. Do it. Go see him. Have hope.

I found the entire experience at Osteopathy, NY very supportive. From the ease of the appointment, to the kind and caring staff, including Dr. Lopez; who carefully listens and is clearly very dedicated, with great expertise to this work!
As for my results after the first session, I believe my overall results are still in progress.
I felt some differences during the first session. Where I noted areas that held tension were worked to have ease. I gained the insight that the muscle spasms I have been experiencing frequently in my legs and feet were not necessarily coming from my legs, but from my head. They seemed to have now lessened a bit. (after only 1 session)
About 2 hours after the session I felt like I had a bad UTI appear, but after an hour it was gone. This may have been a release from the work done on the kidney areas connected with my 25 year history of kidney stones.
Then, by mid afternoon I needed to take a nap, badly. I had the deepest restful sleep for several hours. To me, a deep sleep like this, says that something very healing is taking place in the body. And this is exactly what was needed for me!
I believe that Osteopathic Therapies represents an a great opportunity for healing and value for your money.

OK let me preface this review before I get into it. I have a lot of friends in manual bodywork and have been to different body therapists i.e. PT’s and Rolfers. I’ve dislocated both sides of my hips and both shoulders multiple times while growing up, jammed my tailbone when I was in college surfing, I had a bad neck injury a few years ago surfing in Nicaragua, I’ve had multiple concussions over the years playing sports, I have a slight case of scoliosis (which we didn’t approach too much in the session), and I have a pretty severe case of TMJ.
After reading reviews of different osteopath practitioners/​doctors in NYC, I decided on Daniel, thankfully. Daniel is hands-​down the most simple and effective bodyworker I’ve ever been to.
The breakdown
— walked in and introduced myself, he asked me a few questions about injuries, allergies, birthday and that was it.
— I laid down on my back he started to examine my body and felt over different areas with his hands that could be affecting my discomforts and went straight to work.
— we worked primarily on unjamming my tailbone and opening my hips, did cranial work along with some work inside my mouth (gloves used obviously), jaw work, and lastly we worked on my right side of my collarbone and my right shoulder which he unjammed/​loosened up immensely. It seems as though my right shoulder never landed correctly back into the socket after an old injury and was causing compensation in and around that area up into my neck
I’d say Daniel relieved about 70 to 80% of all discomfort in the areas that we worked on in this one session. I’ll be returning to Daniel next week to further peel away at these issues and to delve deeper into healing my body and to have it all go back to be in full working order.
Don’t waste your time thinking about going to Daniel, book your session and go. It’s some of the best money I’ve invested.

For a few days I was in debilitating back lower pain — making everything difficult from sitting and sleeping to working and taking care of my young son. I was desperate and feeling hopeless after a similar flair up a year ago in which I got no relief from chiropractors and massage therapists. One visit to Dr. Lopez and I was back to my old self again. The world of Osteopathy is fascinating and mysterious, but with proven scientific results. I cannot recommend Dr. Lopez enough; he is brilliant at Osteopathic medicine, a creative and gifted problem solver, incredibly intuitive, and a wonderful practitioner that puts you at ease immediately. I will recommend him to everyone I talk to with a health issue they can’t seem to kick or refuse to suffer through. His unique and holistic approach and ability to empower your own body to heal is truly amazing. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Dr. Lopez!

Having Fibromyalgia, I really need Dr. Lopez. My body and especially neck area are so tight that it gives me excruciating pains. Dr. Lopez is an essential help to alleviating these crippling terrible symptoms. He knows exactly what he is doing and he is worth every penny! If you haven’t tried going to him, run, don’t walk to his office.

I’ve been a regular patient of Dr. Lopez’s since November of 2012 and I’ve had more immediate and long-​lasting positive results from his treatments than from any other I have undergone (conventional and acupuncture). He has helped me significantly with chronic gallbladder pain, migraine headaches, digestive problems, esophageal spasms, and various other complaints I’ve come to him with over the last 2 years. After a few visits, I also noticed that my shoulders were parallel again (my right one had been sloped for years from constantly carrying heavy shoulder bags). He’s helped me so much that I’ve only needed to come in once in the last 7 months. That visit was for a migraine, which now come far less often. As always, I felt the pain release as Dr. Lopez worked on me and, by the time I walked out of there, I had at least 70% reduction in my pain. Dr. Lopez is clearly doing what he was put on this earth to do and I’m so grateful for having found him.

Dr. Lopez is a very integrated, knowledgeable, kind, and professional practitioner. I have seen him twice and after each visit I had immediate relief from my bodily discomfort. Over the last 20 years I’ve received a variety of body treatments regularly such as rolfing, deep tissue massage, cranio sacral therapy, etc and so I have developed a keen sense and high expectation for therapeutics and bodywork. He is the the first osteopathic doctor I have ever visited and I don’t feel the need to look any further! I find Dr. Lopez’s approach to be precise in addressing and melting away discomfort by realigning the body to its natural form. I also appreciate his vision for treating the whole body in relationship to the source of the pain. He understands the true mechanics of the body’s workings and helped me to alleviate back compression and rib/​diaphragm tension that had me walking out of his office feeling inches taller! He is focused and passionate about his work and dedicated to the individuals he treats. I highly recommend his services to you and have naturally referred many of my own clients to him for care.

May 31, 2012 I woke up not being able to walk on my right foot. It was a painful, expensive summer as I was diagnosed with ‘plantar fasciitis’ and spent $ 1000+ on podiatry visits & customized orthotics & ultrasound treatments & physical therapy.
Nothing worked.
Then, based on a friend’s recommendation, I finally went to Dr. Lopez in October.
During the exam he asked if I had ever sprained my ankle (which I had a history of doing as a child!) and said: I don’t think you have plantar fasciitis, which is why all those other treatments aren’t working. It appears the soft tissues of your ankle never healed properly from the sprains & are giving plantar fasciitis symptoms.
I saw him 5 or 6 times after that and my ankle /​foot is almost healed.
Needless to say, he can work with the entire body this way and I’ll be booking regular maintenance appointments with him once I hit my deductible (for overall alignment & anything that crops up).
He knows what he’s doing and I highly recommend a visit to see for yourself.

When I walk out of Dr. Lopez’s office I immediately notice how much better I can breathe. He unlocks all the tension in my body which allows my pent up stress to escape. He is working on my TMJ issues but repositioning my head in relation to my spine/​body has improved my overall sense of well being. He’s not magic, but his touch is SO therapeutic. I would recommend him to anyone.
Osteopathic manipulation is the most amazing form of bodywork. Once you experience it you’ll wonder how you ever got along without it.

i suffer from tons of tension in my body; around the spine, deep in the stomach, back and everywhere. conventional PT is pretty limited in its help — just strengthen and stretch they say. that helps to a certain extent, but when you’re tight in many nooks and crannies, somehow i know doing that is not going fix it.
i went to Dr. Lopez because my sister has had success with osteopathy in HK, and i thought it was a good thing to try someone who also did manual therapy. Dr. Lopez was very gentle and very thorough, and obviously understood the human anatomy and structure very well! some of his techniques were downright odd or unfamiliar, and i felt a bit skeptical lying there on the table, but the results were great! i could actually feel the difference in the hard to get tight tendons and muscles relaxing. Dr. Lopez explained that some muscles are neglected and hard to get to, but they can pull everything out of whack. makes sense!
Dr. Lopez genuinely cares about his patients and has wonderful skills to boot. much better than conventional PT! i’m so glad i found something that really gets to the root!

After dealing with daily pain from plantar fasciitis for over two years and having no long term success with two different podiatrists (the next step was to try surgery), Dr. Lopez cured me after two visits. He immediately knew what the problem was and fixed it instantly, with one follow up for the little lingering pain that was left.
Now pregnant with my second child, I went in with lower back pain and again he resolved it in just one visit.
While I don’t completely understand how osteopathy works, I definitely know that it does. Dr. Lopez is a caring and very competent doctor, a rarity in NYC.

I found Dr. Lopez after being treated by an osteopathic doctor in France who did great things for my achy body and stress levels. The great thing about osteopathy is you can actually feel the difference after each appointment — like your body is somehow aligned and balanced and working better than before. I always feel like I can stand up straighter.
Both times I’ve been to see Dr. Lopez he has taken a lot of time to listen to what’s bothering me and then answers my questions about what he’s doing to fix it. When I couldn’t move my neck, he was able to see me that afternoon and really helped give me mobility back when I was totally blocked before.

Dr. Daniel is a LIFESAVER– simple as that. I suffered from throat infections for as long as I can remember. A cold was never ever just a cold. It would always turn into a full blown infection with the works. I’m a singer in a band that tours a lot, and I was getting sick pretty much on every tour — not a good thing. I was constantly losing my voice, and that became a big problem for me. When I went to visit Doc Daniel, he didn’t just prescribe me antibiotics and wish me well, which unfortunately is what I was very used to with the numerous other doctors I had been to before. He actually wanted to get to the bottom of why I was getting sick all the time. After a few questions, he figured out that a simple adjustment to my collar bone would help my sinuses drain properly. Since the adjustment, I have not had ONE single throat problem. You can’t imagine what a relief it is to not have to worry about that anymore! I cannot recommend him enough. That little adjustment changed everything for me. He also recommended the vitamins I should take and the proper way to take them (which was eye opening for me too). He really took the time to explain everything to me, so that I would get the most out of my visit. .and my health truly, truly thanks him for it.

I originally started as a patient of Dr. Caron’s and now see Dr. Lopez since he took over the practice. The practice is small and it’s nice to receive individual attention. I didn’t know much about Osteopathy at all when I originally walked in, but seeing my pain diminish has really opened my mind. Dr. Lopez is an attentive listener and cares about my health and progress. I wish more doctors in New York were like that.
