D’auria Bros

My fiancé bought me the most gorgeous engagement ring from here! It’s round stone with a cushion halo. I love it and am always getting compliments on it. They also offer free cleaning for all D’auria rings. I came in for a ring cleaning and marveled at all their beautiful jewelry.

I shopped around for engagement rings to numerous stores, and decided to check out D’Auria Brothers after a positive referral from a friend. Diamond shopping at D’Auria Bros was a very good experience. Charles and the rest of the staff were extremely helpful in my engagement ring shopping and provided an enjoyable and stress free experience. In spite of my neediness to ask a million questions and see a wide variety of different diamonds and settings, the staff never faltered in providing excellent service, explanations of the diamond characteristics, and maintained patience with me the entire time. Even when I purchased one ring, and decided later to change to a different setting (due to my own preference change, nothing was wrong with setting), D’Auria Brothers understood completely and helped me every step of the way, including providing an excellent value for the quality diamonds obtained. Of course, my now fiancée absolutely adored the ring and its all thanks to D’Auria Bros! I’ll be back for the wedding band soon and will make sure to go straight to D’Auria for all my future diamond needs. Thanks again Charles and staff!

Great store, great people, great decision. When you plan on making a purchase that takes you to the diamond district, that’s a big deal for most people. We looked a multiple stores and dealers throughout the diamond district until we were referred to D’auria, and everything fell into place after that. Trust is a big thing, and I have no regrets entrusting Charlie with finding me a diamond and a ring to showcase it a few years back. We later went back for a wedding ring with diamonds to match the engagement ring, and were just as happy the second time around. This probably sounds like an ad, but I was that happy with the engagement ring, wedding ring, the price and the service. I’ll never go anywhere else for diamond jewelry.

My engagement ring is from D’Auria Bros and is amazing. Charles offers unique designs that are timeless at a fraction of the cost that you’d find at a big box jeweler since you aren’t paying for additional marketing and retail costs. I can’t wait to have him design the wedding band.

I have worked with Charles D’Auria over the past year and he has been exceptionally helpful and patient. He not only does wonderful craftsmanship, but is very generous with his time and services.
I was referred to Charles by a jeweler that our family has worked with for over 20 years. He recommended Charles as the only contact in New York for us to entrust with our engagement ring for alterations. I went to Charles to enlarge my ring and he was very knowledgeable about what exactly needed to be done. He recognized that my finger is a very difficult shape for fitting a ring — with wider knuckles and a small band area. He made very helpful suggestions that were creative and would not impact the design of the ring.
Later, when we had an issue with the top heaviness of the ring, but could not have placement beads installed due to the shape of my finger, he altered the shape of the ring so that it would not slide, with no visible change to the appearance again. In each situation he took the time to analyze my specific need and determined the best solution. He also was very quick with his improvements and always had my ring back to me within one day.
I have worked with Charles several times since on other jewelry requests and he has always been a pleasure to work with. He has beautiful custom designs that are unique and sophisticated. I am surprised by the other review listed and cannot imagine that it is for the same business. I would definitely recommend Charles to any of my family and friends.

You would think someone who sells jewelry for a living, especially engagement and wedding jewelry, would be somewhat understanding that this is a pretty significant purchase for most people. Instead, Charles at D’Auria was completely unhelpful and dismissive.
We came to D’Auria looking for a particular engagement ring setting. He seemed helpful and polite at first. Feeling tentatively ok with him, we then proceeded to ask him questions about his warranties, repair policies and returns policies, like any good consumer would do. Nothing out of the ordinary, in my opinion, and nothing most people wouldn’t do for any type of big purchase. However, he apparently takes offense to any kind of due diligence because he did a total 180 and became impatient, telling us in not so many words to get lost and that he doesn’t deal with «difficult» customers. And hung up on us.
Yikes. I didn’t know that asking questions about store policies constituted being a difficult customer, but I guess it does if you have something to hide or don’t have any such policies. Or if you prefer your customers to be tourists or uninformed impulse buyers, which I think comprise the majority of his clientele.
Seriously, this is not just a knock on D’Auria. When making a significant jewelry purchase, I wouldn’t recommend working with ANY jeweler who can’t or won’t answer very basic and reasonable questions about your purchase or who doesn’t make you feel 100% comfortable spending your money with them. It will save a lot of heartache in the long run because chances are, the initial purchase isn’t the only time you’ll be dealing with this person (think repairs and maintenance – you’re going to have that wedding jewelry for a lifetime hopefully), and you want to work with someone you can trust – and who won’t hang up on you if he decides you aren’t worth his time.
