It is with great pleasure that I recommend Dr. Salvage as one of the best most caring psychiatrists I have ever had the pleasure of working with. We worked for 10 years on a severe addiction to methamphetamine, PTSD, and acute stress disorder. At a time when all felt hopeless and I wanted to die, Dr. Salvage brought me hope and promise. I did the work and now I am a well adjusted person who wants to give back by becomming a certified substance abuse counselor and also applying for grad school for my MSW in order to help others with their co-occurring disorders. I will use many of the techniques Dr. Salvage used with me, in my future practice, he is not just a great psychiatrist, he is a great clinical psychologist as well! Like most addicts I tried to manipulate Dr. Salvage into getting medications I did not need. But once we got passed all that and I did the work needed to heal, I became the man I am today. if he had not figured out the medications I needed to survive my illnesses, I would not be alive to write this recommendation.

I found Dr. Salvage to be a wonderful psychiatrist. I went to him for diagnosis and medication management, and then also worked with him for psychotherapy. I was not an easy case medically – I had several coexisting conditions that complicated treatment, but we hung in there and finally found things that worked and really changed my life for the better. Dr. Salvage listened with respect, and was honest, compassionate, and incredibly knowledgeable and skilled as a physician. I would work with him still if I had not moved away from the area. Also, he is crazy smart, but doesn’t make you feel dumb. For anyone who is an artist, or wants to be, you will find him a great ally for your creative process as well. Pretty good flashes of humor, sometimes, too, though he takes his work and clients’ concerns very seriously. I consider him utterly reliable. Oh – and you can DISAGREE with him without the sky falling down. He can actually hear and tolerate objections and criticism, and he’s even capable of admitting when he’s been wrong.(I don’t think he’s wrong often, though, so don’t hold your breath). This is one of the things that makes him a real keeper as a mental health professional – if there are difficulties or differences between you, you can work them out over time.
