I stopped by here on a break from work because I heard that had an awesome sports massage. Granted, I did not have an appointment but I figured I’d drop by and see if they had any availability. I was greeted at the door by a nice girl who immediately looked me up and down and said they were busy so I asked when they would have some availability. She took my name down and told me to come back in 30 minutes so I did. When I came back I buzzed the door and nobody answered. I buzzed again and waited for 10 minutes until someone else let me in on their way out. I knocked on the door and no answer. I called their number and no answer. I knocked again and nothing yet I could hear someone inside. I don’t know if they blew me off because of my appearance or what but this has left me very angry as I made time to come back and they just ignored me. It’s really a shame on their part because I own a gym and could have referred a lot of people their way but instead they chose to ignore me completely.

I paid $ 89 for a Groupon deal of European facial with a microdermabrasion, Neck and shoulder massage, Hydrating, heated hand treatment. The whole package lasted 1 hour and half of the time I just laid with heated gloves on my hands. The massage lasted about 5 minutes, the facial even less. And do not expect smiles from the staff — you have not paid for it.

I have been using this place for at least 10 years now so I obviously have a reason to return again and again. While I would agree with most about atmosphere from the 80’s and would not necessarily bring your 10 girlfriends here for a spa day, it is nevertheless a perfect place for your deep cleansing special or for a half a day spa package time for yourself. The staff is very professional and always focused on getting the job done right rather than sticking to the time limit. I trusted them with my facials through my pregnancies and before and after skin changes. If you want to keep your skin clean-this is your place!

I went to Day Spa Gata for the first time yesterday and was thoroughly satisfied with the service I got. I usually dread the experience, but Suzanne was very professional and did an exceptional and relatively pain-free job on my bikini wax. We had a brief consultation, and I was in and out of there in about 15 minutes. The price was right and despite someone else’s review saying the staff was cold, I found Suzanne to be friendly and polite. I highly recommend this place for waxing.

This is my first personal review ever. I’m feel compelled to write this after a sadly disappointing facial. I’m new to the city and wanted to find a spot near my place. Even though there was too few reviews I decided to go regardless. I went for the $ 69.99 facial special I saw on their site. I was asked for the print out of this??? It’s their website but I had to show it anyway thru my phone. Before, I even sat she said oily skin, eh. Um no very dry actually, it’s the sunscreen I put for the walk over and that was the last words I heard from her. No other comments or questions about my face. During extractions she was interrupted to take a phone call for a few minutes. I received a face wash, scrub, extractions, mask, and finally a moisturizing cream. No shoulder/chest massage. She was in the room with me for maybe 15 minutes total the rest of the times she was out while my face was steamed and mask settled in. $ 70! I feel robbed.

i use Unilocal all the time to find places where to go, but when i actually do, i always forget to write about them… but not this time. ive had back/shoulder problems for a long time:(bad posture, i work in retail and i stand on my feet all day etc etc. all the stress and tension goes to my shoulders and i cramp up and it kills! anyway, ive tried a billion places in the uws. i know that when u go to the nail places most of times i got bad massages(even though cheap) but instead of spending 48 $ for 1h massage and then having to go back the week after bc my shoulder hurt again, i figured i start trying other places like spas etc… i found a couple not bad, but 1 out of 3 massages(they keep on changing their girls) was a no go. and the 1h massage was 120 $… i dont have all that money to spend all the time. so i finally found this place! sooo great! the massage is 80 $ and so worth it! they are all so so polite, very nice, the place is super clean and Lisa was great! i told her my problems and she solved them! another thing i really like is that they use a lot reflexology of the feet to help back problems… i am sooo looking forward to go back and get 1hour of just foot massage… i truly recommend :)

The place it self looks straight out of the 80’s, but that aside, I got a great Swedish massage. Will def go back. FYI: if you pay with a credit card, they charge tax, and if you want to tip on your card, they charge tax on that also. I did talk them out of it bc it ludicrous, but supposedly it’s company policy

Sabina was prompt, professional, and kind. A bikini wax is never fun or painless, but she did as pleasant a job as one could do. I actually prefer this kind of no-nonsense atmosphere to a really fancy one, especially at such a reasonable price.

My first Unilocal recommendation — I justmoved to a new city and found myself searching for a bikini & underarm wax through Unilocal.A leap of faith but it paid off. This place was good — professional and priced appropriately. Thanks to my Unilocal sisters out there! I would go back.

Great place! I liked it because the staff is professional and hard working, especially Helen & Katie who took excellent care of me while waxing. I’ve been to other waxing establishments(J Sisters, Shobha, Randee Elaine, Fusion, etc.), but I like this place the best — I look forward to going there again!

Great massages, but the facialist kicked my ass! I feared for my teeth when she was doing extractions. A little rough. But the massages are perfect. The décor makes me feel like I’m in a doctor’s office, but at least the place is Enya-free! That music makes me more agitated than relaxed, and they don’t make me smell like a prostitute with tons of aromatherapy. Nothing like walking down Broadway smelling like a pile of dead lilacs…

I think beauty is work, that’s why I dig these Russians. Day Spa Gata is discreetly tucked into the bottom floor of an upper west side residential townhouse. While some might call the staff of middle-aged Russian women slightly clinical, I call them professional. I don’t know about you, but if I’m assuming the position to get hair ripped out of my body for the sake of vanity, I don’t want to worry about making friggin’ conversation. The staff is friendly enough to make it not feel like you wandered into an undercover S &M club and they are precise. Their massages are spectacular for the very fact that you get to be in your own head instead of chatty kathy’s, and if you go online you can find a coupon or special. If you want get down to business relaxation, and a good wax(without people pushing you for additional services) Spa G is the place for you.
