This was the perfect place for a comfortable and casual breakfast. The food was good, the service was very friendly. The atmosphere was pleasant and we had a very nice time. Will definitely return.

Good variations of diner fare. Definitely a better option than the other diner at the end of the block. You know Jerry’s diner from the show.

I wonder what happen to Deluxe restaurant? It used to be a very nice place. I went yesterday with a friend to have brunch and was very disappointed. Everything about the food was horrible. I order everything that I used to love like the waffles, and most important the«huevos rancheros», ah and because we were feeling hungry we order a sandwich too. First, the chef doesnt have the minimum idea what huevos rancheros mean. It takes a click on the computer to know how to make them the right way. The waffles had no flavor and the sandwich was even worst. My friend got sick after eating that meal and I felt so bad because it was me who recommended Deluxe. Iam sorry that everything change over there, the staff, the ambience, and of course the delicious food that they used to serve.

I was there twice this month during dinner, with coworkers. I had a server who knew absolutely nothing about the menu or drinks. She looked scared and lost, the other server was running like crazy and we never even got a water glass. The prices just keep going up and the quality of the service and food is going down. My coworkers and I wont be going back to Deluxe. This used to be a great place to have a casual lunch or a modest dinner. Taking the chicken wrap out the menu was a bad move!!! Tip, improve your servers and management!!!

Deluxe is a popular Broadway diner that’s quite popular with awesome service. And pretty good food too! I sat outside with some friends and it was just a really nice dinner with warm spring weather. I had the grilled cheese, which has a surprise of tomato in it as well. A grilled cheese and a side of greens/soup/fries will run you about $ 15, which isn’t too bad. I just didn’t love that the grilled cheese was so buttery, but I did love that it had more than one variety of cheese. I would definitely come back to try brunch as well.

This review is primarily for the blueberry pancakes. The date ordered the croissant sandwich, which was nothing special. The blueberry pancakes, however, are something else. The blueberry butter is an absolute game-changer. I almost didn’t want to eat the pancakes when I first saw their beauty. A perfect stack, topped with blueberry sauce, dreamy pink blueberry butter, and mint. *Masterpiece.* Glad I didn’t spend the entire time staring at the pancakes, because they tasted even better than they looked. Fluffy and not too sweet. The blueberry butter was a unique component that added a sweet and creamy dimension. So filling that I couldn’t finish the whole stack. If you’re into pancakes — this is a must! I would go so far as to say that these give Clinton Street a run for their money. Another plus: friendly service! My coffee cup was always full.

Ugh worst brunch in a while. A friend recommended we try this place out. Looked nice outside but inside was a different experience. As a disclaimer I hate Columbia University along with the pretentious students who go there. Also I hate how the university is destroying the community of West Harlem by displacing so many long-term residents. Okay back to Deluxe. The place is filled with Columbia students and people with strollers. As if that wasn’t bad enough– the food was less than subpar. I had the Norwegian eggs Benedict and it came with home fries. I didn’t understand why they had the benedict sitting on the fries when they served it, but soon realized why. I think they were hoping the eggs would keep the fries warm as they were cool and flavorless. The Benedict wasn’t anything to write home about as it was this tiny version of what a Benedict should be with a price tag of $ 15. My friend had to send back her eggs because they were overdone and literally within one minute he came back with more eggs. So either he snatched them off someone else’s plate or they have a bucket of these eggs already made for these situations. There are so many other choices on the block and you Columbia students can have this gross diner.

Absolutely disappointed!!! After making my boyfriends steak completely wrong the wait for a remake was over 40 minutes. The workers were rude and obnoxious. The worse part is even though the steak AND sides were not touched, they charged us for everything. This place gets packed strictly off of presentation of food, nothing else.

So being on the run and all over the place all the time period. Its always good to have spots in different neighborhoods that you frequent. This is one of those places. Not only is the food good but the prices are too. Plus its actually a spot Ive known to be here for years unlike too many places that vanish in this ever changing city. They’re clearly doing something right.

This is the third time I’ve been to this spot and after two extremely underwhelming experiences, it was about time that I share my take on Deluxe. The food is not bad. I had a great grilled cheese with tomato soup and on a separate occasion went for brunch, which was also good. The food however, doesn’t make up for their inconsistent service. My first visit was later at night, when they were not busy, so this review is in response to the other 2 times when they were more busy. Note, they were not slammed. On one visit, I placed my lunch order shortly after sitting down, but watched three tables in my section get served food before me. Since I was the only person at my table, I have to chalk that up to poor wait service. My most recent visit was about 6 months later. I ordered the shashuka and the skillet came out without a cover on the handle and I got burned by it. My boyfriend and I also waited a good 30 minutes to receive our check after our plates were cleared, and that’s only after I asked a different waiter to get it for us. I guess after our order was taken our waiter was done with our table? Pros: the wait isn’t usually more than about 5 minutes to sit. The manager on staff was apologetic and gracious in offering me burn cream. The food is pretty good. Cons: I’m not sure if the wait staff has designated tables, or if it’s a free for all, but the waiters always look overwhelmed. They hustle, but food delivery is poorly timed and they don’t care for their tables. The runners are also lacking in customer service. I’m not sure what to point to for why the restaurant always seems to have these problems. I’d consider returning once Deluxe shapes up a bit but until then, Deluxe has lost my business.

Went for brunch and it was great! My husband had a really good burger and i had the grilled salmon over the risotto which both were prepared perfectly, i also had the chai latte which was really delicious. In general the atmosphere is really good the décor needs a little updating, but I’m definitely coming back next week!

I mean, it’s not horrible. I’m just not sure I would return. There was one really nice waiter with a nice smile, and there was another in a crappy mood(or at least, I hope it was a temporary temperament…). My table got the latter. It took at least 15 – 20 minutes for us to get menus, a waiter, or waters after we were seated. The waiter was also a bit standoffish while taking our orders, and we had to wait another 15 or so minutes for the check after we asked for it. The food didn’t come out as quickly as we would have liked, but it wasn’t unbearable. I got the BLT sandwich with no buns– I asked for it on lettuce since I’m gluten free and cannot eat flour. There was so much bacon(extra crispy, just the way I like them), and 2 thick, fresh slices of tomatoes on top of green and crunchy lettuce layers. So even though I still think the food was overpriced, it was solid. Plus plentiful, herbed fries. I would have finished my fries if my water had been refilled, but it was never refilled– so thank you waiter for sparing me calories? :) My friend had half her sandwich and fries boxed. The manager took the dish herself to get it packaged, but 20 minutes later, no one knew where it went. The manager was very apologetic about it however and got her a whole new, warm sandwich to go.

Very good food and service. We had Salmon with risoto, veggy burger and guacamole. My friend told me that it is a diner but the feeling at night is as a good restaurant. We wanted to get dessert but we ware fool. Also we got to try some of the milkshakes.

I walked in to this diner with no expectation and had great burger and the fires were great as well . This weekend I was around the area twice, bean soup and quinoa salad were both tasty, the next visit had the burger again and once again success . 3 positive visits in a diner is a sweet surprise . Great diner.

Great place, great food, great service, great vide! What’s more to ask in a brunch. One more big plus is that it’s a baby friendly place, you can come with your baby or stroller and see enjoy dining. I came with a friend that also had a new born and she felt the same. I think that have something nice going on here, hope the quality stay that high.

I ordered a burger which was surprisingly tasty. The service was quite good as well. This place, however, likely deserves 4 stars due to its outdated décor. I gave it 5 stars just because of the changing table in the bathroom. Our son had quite the explosion, so the changing table came in real handy. It was a real family friendly place.

what a great find, i am always on the lookout for great places that offers breakfast all day! few years ago i use to go all the way to I-hop for that but today age it became normal. i had the steak and eggs and the meat was soooo good! now my friend my say that it is because i was vegan up until few months ago BUT i am telling you it is not, i have been eating meat like an animal for the last few months and i can recognize a good steak from 5 miles away… the eggs were also done well and not too raw. for a new place they got their shit together and the service is very good, very responsive and friendly. i finished my late night breakfast with French toast that was the best bread i have eaten in months! will be back to try more good stuff and will recommend. keep it up guys!

I normally do not write reviews, but my experience at this place was so great, that I just had to share. I came here with my friend tonight, and we tried out some options from dinner menu. First of all the staff was so welcoming and accomodating as soon as we walked in. We were seated by the window on a small table for two. The music and atmosphere was great! We started with some amazing drinks!!! My friend had Jalopĕno Margarita! I had Hazelnut milkshake! Both-great!!! My friend is vegetarian, so she ordered mac and cheese! And Salmon with risotto!!! Must try everybody!!! Amazing!!! As for myself, got the Meatloaf with mashed potatoes and vegies!!! Loved it!!! For desert we had banana split!!! OMG, HEAVEN! By the way, they said they will have a new drink menu!!! Love it! Cannot wait! In general, all of the staff brought their A-game, from the charming hostess to the friendly waiter, this was a pleasant experience from start to finish, I will definitely stop by here again and bring more friends.

I live in the neighborhood and the place was closed for some time. They reopen with a new management and chef. The food and service got so much better. I had a burger with crispy fries and it was very very good. They also got me a sample of the hazelnut milkshake and I am defiantly getting one next time.

My understanding is that they just reopened with new management. I hadn’t experienced the old management so I don’t have a comparison, but we had a great experience. Service: Excellent. We came with a baby in a stroller and the staff was super accommodating in finding a spot to keep the stroller out of the way and bringing a high chair. Overall, all the staff was very friendly and helpful. Ambiance: At Sunday brunch the restaurant was full but there was no line, so we didn’t feel rushed. The music was low so you could chat easily. Food: — Burger — excellent — Veggie burger — Full of veggies, definitely homemade and not a frozen burger. The manager told me they are still tweaking the recipe a bit to perfect it. The homemade tartar sauce it came with was delicious and really good for dipping the fries. — Steak and eggs — I didn’t try it, but the member of our party who had it said it was great. Would recommend: Yes

My hamburger was undercooked and fell apart, making me worry about what they were doing in the kitchen. The waitress and host never noticed that I didn’t eat it or drink the tasteless chocolate shake. The place is pretty busy though.

I was ready to add Deluxe to my RIP list when all of a sudden…

Évaluation du lieu : 2 Manhattan, NY
Less than 2 days after shutting down operations, Deluxe opened for business once again, citing overwhelming community support as the main reason for this decision. I only have one question: was this«community» one that never experienced proper service or consumed good quality food? I’ve dined here on several occasions with the hopes of seeing what the fuss is all about, and each experience has reinforced the fact that overpriced mediocrity is what Deluxe does best. The disco fries(read: dry fries with a few tablespoons of gravy and a few slices of semi-hardened, plastic-like cheddar cheese) are so pathetic that it is actually hilarious, until you remember you’re paying $ 6.00 for this monstrosity. Their beef burgers are lame, and your money would be better spent on a place like Five Guys. The Deluxe grilled cheese sandwich, which costs over $ 10.00, is inexcusably soggy and not at all melted. They need to consider switching out their choice of cheddar and Swiss for cheeses that are made for melting and won’t mostly harden within a minute of being removed from the grill. It would not surprise me if the accompanying tomato soup is straight out of a can with nothing added to it. The cocktails are overpriced and forgettable. The sangria in particular was very disappointing. Perhaps if the ambiance of this restaurant were not depressing and dreary, the overpriced yet sub par food would be tolerable. I can’t help but feel as if the dim lighting is meant to hide the fact that this place hasn’t been given a good scrubbing in a long time… and even if not, the place is just a mess of cheap tables/chairs and outdated furnishings that hardly evoke the diner atmosphere they supposedly aim for. Last but certainly not least, the service here is passable at best and downright offensive at worst. I’ll never forget the incident that made me decide to abandon this place for good. I walked in here with a friend one freezing winter night, and although the restaurant was almost completely empty, the waitress had us sit at a very tiny table right next to the cold area by the door. As we sat down, we noticed the table was incredibly tilted and kept swaying whenever one of us would so much as rest our hand on it. Upon asking the waitress to switch tables, she ignored me and got a matchbook to put under the table, then said it was fixed. This made the table even MORE unbalanced, and after we asked her to switch us to a comfier booth, she explained that she couldn’t do that since that would put us in another waitress’ section. This airhead continued to fiddle with our table, and after another one of her failed attempts to balance it out, we left and ate at Mill Korean instead. Pro tip: if you’re going to hire crappy line cooks that probably have zero culinary training, then at least make up for it with somewhat-intelligent waitresses and nice décor. If only this place had remained out-of-business…then the neighborhood might have gotten an ACTUAL restaurant to take its place. Until then, looks like this block is stuck with this waste of space called Deluxe.

This has been a go to breakfast spot for my dad and I for years. Huge fan of their home fries, and omelets. The winner though is the BLT& A with chicken. Absolutely love it. Piled high with chicken avocado and bacon with crispy fries. Also a huge fan of their burgers which I will always opt for after 11am The service can be amazing or so so. Depends on your server. It’s never been bad though. The coffee however is shit. The espresso is good though

Deluxe Diner is a good option to have in the neighborhood, and consistently delivers affordable diner-style breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. I am a particular fan of the brunch menu, because it is simple but pretty tasty. The ambience and quality of the food is not special, but given the affordable price range it is a good option in the area. With that being said, I’ve found their breakfast to be better than their lunch selection. The smoked salmon platter is tasty and fresh, as are the varied omelet and pancake choices. Even on weekends, it is usually possible to get a tables, which is great. I often prefer deluxe over the much-hyped Community restaurant nearby. Their lunch selection consists primarily of sandwiches, salads, and burgers, none of which particularly impressed. Go for breakfast/brunch! If you are looking for diner-style food, but in a more modern atmosphere, this is the place to go. It is similar to Tom’s Diner right nearby.

Let’s make this official now: Deluxe is my favorite restaurant around campus. Always great food, always good music, and decent price. It’s like a upgraded«Tom’s+Community». This is the last restaurant that I tried since I came to the neighborhood, but I’ll make sure that this is the first one I recommend to friends from now.
