Worst possible customer service from this company. Not only the store on 3rd avenue, but in general. I have spent several tens of thousands of $$ on purchases in the store, and lately the service quality is at an all time low; delivery quality(via UKAY) is desirable and the service consultants are outright rude and unavailable.

ah design within reach, where you can literally walk past a receptionist, around each floor, and all the way up to the 3rd level of the store without having a single person acknowledge your presence! it was a weekday and the store was empty. yes, i was wearing spandex and running sneakers… doesn’t mean i’m not going to buy furniture. i am going to buy furniture… just not here. too bad really, the stuff is nice. bottom line — if you want to have a «julia roberts goes to that snobby boutique in ‘pretty woman’ experience»…go here. and then get richard gere to take you to room & board instead.

I ordered a bed on October 9 — initially was told it was in stock. Then told that it would take 4 — 6 weeks to arrive. Took delivery of the mattress as I was moving and needed something to sleep on. Was told that the bed was absolutely positviley coming on November 21st. Arrived back from a business trip on the 20th to learn that«becasue you ordered white glove service the bed was inspected at the warehouse and found to be defective — will take another 8 — 12 weeks to be made and arrive». Asked to speak to a manager. Never received the courtesy of a return call. Sales person tries to help. Am now told that the bed may with luck be with me before the holiday… but the sales person seems to have little ability to influence as nice as she is. Not a high degree of confidence that I will reeive this bed any time soon — and I made it clear that I needed immediate delivery — was willing to wait a few weeks, sleeping essentially on the floor, but this is now 2+ months and no end in sight. Design out of sight out of mind. Hard to imagine there is not another bed available in the United States. Crappy service. Not to be trusted or believed. If you actually need your furniture suggest you shop somewhere that really, truly has the ability to deliver…

I actually like DWR. But not this location . We think that the employees at this particular location are rude. If you decide to purchase any items from DWR, I would highly recommend going to their other locations such as Soho, Union Square where the employees are responsive and respectful to their customers.

Beautiful showroom, good selection of modern and designer furniture and a nice salesperson named Amanda made me like this place a lot initially. Amanda offered me water on a hot day, took a lot of time to walk me around and even though I just came in for a couple lamps, and showed me dining tables and chairs since I they were on my list of things to buy in the near future. Amanda gets 5 stars! I bought the lamps, one of which I eventually found 20% cheaper from a reputable online retailer(minus one of Amanda’s stars for that, DWR), and came face-to-face with DWR’s far too expensive shipping policies. Standard delivery is percentage based ranging from 8% to 6% depending on order size. Add $ 99 to the standard delivery charge for room-of-choice delivery and $ 350 for«white glove» service which includes assembly and removal of packing materials. I recently bought a bunch of furniture from Room & Board who offer a flat $ 89 delivery fee. The services included with this fee were assembly of my sectional and removal of packing materials. If I had bought the equivalent amount of furniture from DWR with similar delivery service, I would have been looking at an $ 815 delivery charge. Oh and DWR adds a $ 10 «fuel surcharge» on all orders over $ 1000. Way to nickel and dime on top of an absurdly high delivery fee, DWR(minus another star for that). I eventually did buy the dining table and chairs that Amanda had shown me but I bought them online and received free shipping. Shipping through DWR for that would have been $ 280. No thanks. My advice: use it as a showroom, buy online to avoid expensive shipping. DWR is to online retailers(Horne, Hive Modern) what Best Buy is to Amazon.
