Recently filmed a project here and I couldn’t be happier. Patrick was the best. Most accommodating, helpful, and above and beyond what I expected. The location is very convenient as well, the students very talented, and everyone there was extremely friendly. I look forward to future projects !

Seems like a budget NYFA.
The staff are less than friendly and seem more intent on just making a sale, rather than maintaining good relations with students, potential students, and alumnae. Though it’s in a good location in midtown, and the building looks nice, the actual school is really shoddy (probably hence the tuition — about half the price of NYFA) .
Students were a mix of motivated and some clearly NOT motivated (mostly on their phone during class, etc). OK for the price, but basically not worth it.

Astoria, NY

A great New York film school! Low tuition cost, full use of equipment (even after you graduate!) and good job opportunities for building up your experience! They let you come in and observe a class for free if you set up an appointment through their website. I saw ‘Web TV’ and it was worth the visit. (Spoke with many satisfied students during the class break who spoke very highly of the quality of film instruction)

Jackson Heights, NY

Located in the historic Film Center Building at 44 and 9^th Ave, this multi-purpose training and production facility offers one-time only workshops, multi-week experiences as well as a year long immersion program. It has been our experience that most of the students FINISH THEIR SHORTS! (unheard of at other places who offer all sorts of great what-not, but you don’t finish the film, what good is it?) While we were on the festival circuit, we encountered a DFA graduate who showed well abroad and went on to win the Everglades South Africa Film Festival. What sets this academy aside from others is the unlimited time you can have on the post production equipment. We had a great experience here and recommend it as a great place to learn and network!
