Premium quality product with sub par customer experience. I buy other similar products from other premium brands and while I rarely ever have to return anything, I have never had any issues with stores accepting returns for full credit. Dyptique’s quasi ‘return policy’ only allows you to return merchandise for store credit or exchanges. Even though this return policy is on the receipt, it does not explain that its only for exchanges or store credit, which is very deceiving. Any brand that offers a premium product also offers the confidence to the customer that they will guarantee a pleasant experience through and through. This demonstrates to me that they don’t really stand behind great customer service. I think the product is good, but nothing that special where people have to settle for a sub par customer experience. I have had a much better experience at L’occitane which is actually more affordable than Dyptique. Going forward, I choose to shop at the brands that fully stand behind their product and an optimum customer experience that reflects the status of ‘premium’. Dyptique will NOT be on my list.

Great products, but the sales person should not be in a public-facing job. Plus, she doesn’t know her products and gave me wrong information. I went in to buy some of the 34 boulevard perfume for which I’d previously received a sample. Well, there’s two kinds, one with a white top and the other with a black. Not knowing which, I asked for a sample of each. She says there are none. Period. And walked away. I also wanted soap, so picked that up and approached the register. Asking her if I could find the old sample vial, would it say on it which one it was. She says yes, and pulls out the stock draw, and tells me the two names in French and shuts the drawer. Well, I don’t speak French, so needed to write them down. She says it again, with great pain. Finally, upon my asking, she reluctantly writes them down on a business card. I get home only to find out she’s wrong — the vial doesn’t say which 34 Boulevard fragrance it was. If management reads this, this sale took place on 9÷23÷15 in late afternoon. This sales woman should not be in this job. She clearly doesn’t want to be there either.

Disappointing customer experience. I walked into this store on a Saturday morning looking for a gift while waiting for my train. The store was empty except for the youngish saleswoman who was too busy to look up from her phone to even mutter a «hello» during the 5 minutes I was perusing. The next time I want to be ignored, I’ll just buy online.

I love diptyque candles, but have typically purchased then from Neimans in the past. I was passing through Grand Central one day and popped in and bought a couple candles in diptyque’s retail shop there(for no less then $ 100…). When I was asked if I wanted to sign up with my name, address and other contact info I hesitated because I generally don’t like to give out my personal info — but, I was told I would receive a free mini candle(worth $ 30!) on my birthday in the mail. Sign me up! My birthday came and went and after two phone calls and an email to customer service, still no birthday candle. So, I took a star off for poor customer service.

I’ve been going to the Diptyque in the West Village(this is the only brand I will buy for candles) and was dreading taking the subway lines during rush hour to go there in Grand Central station when lo and behold, there was a Diptyque within. It’s a tiny store, but I like it that way. I got what I needed(Baies is a personal favorite of mine, like many people) and scored a couple of samples. Julia is terrific, and she even told me that they provide free 2 day shipping over $ 70 straight to your house when I told her I hated trekking so far out of my way. You must call this location to place your order though. Thank you thank you thank you!
