Final review: Best Loc Extension person !!! Hands down!!! She is BAE. !! So let’s start with my past history. Dec 2014 I got my 1st set of loc extension installed by … Well to begin this person did not wash my hair before installing the extension; however I had already washed my hair. I already had 3 month old starter locs. When the extensions were getting installed; marley hair was used to begin braid at the end of my los(not at root); and then the afro kinky was wrapped around. Ok. The process was about 8 hrs. I initially loved them until my friend tried to color them jet black. When I tell you these jokers were heavy when wet. Mad heavy. We tried twice to color and it still did not look jet black. Just the same off black/brownish. And to top it off the extensions would not hold a curl to save its life. Conclusion = this was not human hair. On April 2015 I went to another person for a 2nd set of extensions. All human hair was used; I verified this at the time of my consultation and did my own research. The process was about 10 hrs. This set curled & colored. Sweet. Let’s backtrack and let me explain my hair texture. My hair is thin/full and very soft. I informed this person that I wanted my parting close together to give me a full head of locs. This is what I was told I had. So around September 2015 I wanted to wear my locs down and not braided up. I actually saw the parting on the top of my head. It was spacey and huge. When I brought this to the person attention the response was«Your hair is thin up top and if you would have told me I could have sectioned it differently. But what I can try to do is over a 6 month period take a little bit of hair from a loc and eventually make more locs.» Me = I had a frozen puzzled look on face because you are the stylist and saw the top of my head when you were installing the locs. So I asked well let’s just do another set of extensions. I was told no because my hair has already locked. Conclusion = I am wanting new extensions and paying you so I’m not seeing problem. Plenty of people cut locs off and start over. 2nd conclusion = This person just didn’t want to do the work. October 24, 2015(my birthday) I reached out to Dee. We spoke on the phone regarding my concerns and what I wanted. She asked me to send her some pictures of the top of my head. Just from the pictures she could tell that of course the parting was all wrong. She could also tell how soft my hair texture was and that the locs currently installed in my head were too heavy. She informed me that she makes her locs to match the persons hair texture. We set a date in place and I she informed me of her prices. I paid my deposit and at that time she also emailed me a copy of the contract for the services that she would be providing(This was an A++ because the other 2 locticians did not give a contract). Her contract was very detailed and specified everything that I would need to know. Jan 4th2016 came for the day of my installation. Dee traveled from New York all the way to Augusta, Georgia to do my installation. Once we got settled in she first finished conducting financial business. She and I both signed the contract and she gave me a copy to keep for my records. She also gave me a receipt for the deposit and remaining balance that I had paid in full. My service began with cutting out the old loc extensions. She then proceeded to «scratch» my head to lift up any and all dandruff before washing. She thoroughly wash and deep conditioned my hair so it was squeaky clean before starting. My loc extension took place over a 4 day period due to the length and smallness of my locs. Dee is very precise with her diamond parts to they are flawless. She also layers the hair so it has a natural fall to them. She locs are soft and bendable and not that stiffness that you see others. Dee is a sweet person with a bubbly personality. She works fasts and we had great conversation. Baby, those were the longest 4 days of my butt hurting and getting numb. But when I tell you it was so worth it and I would do it all over again; I would. Dee made me her 1st priority when she was in Augusta, GA. She kept her calls and texts to the bare minimal and gave me her full undivided attention. I greatly appreciated that. I am beyond ecstatic with my service that I received from her. I would give her stars to infinity if I could because she gave me excellent service. This country girl is ready to make a trip to New York to see Dee.

*revised review* Just got my hair done by her yesterday & I’m still really happy with her work. SHe’s still as bubbly as ever & her styles are consistently great :’) Been seeing her for a year&some change now & I’m still supremely happy. *original review* I received a set of loc extensions from Dee over the course of 2 days. She was super nice, allowing me to come in & have a consultation the exact same day I called~ she worked with me about the price & what I wanted done, and when I made a deposit, I came in 2 days later to start the process. not only is she really careful(she made sure to be gentle, as I’m tender-headed), you can tell she truly cares for your hair. :’) unlike some stylists(sadly, all of the ones I’ve met ’till now,) she doesn’t just care about your hair looking nice at the price of its health. that’s supremely reassuring. In the first day she knocked off 14 hours(10am-12pm if I remember correctly, maybe 15 x_X) in any case, it was an absurd amount of hair in such a short time lol she works really quickly, all while cracking jokes & telling stories, it was, shall I say it, fun? lol it was my butt hurting & my phone dying that reminded me just how much time had passed, lmao The day after, I was there from 12pm-9ish pm to finish everything up. She takes so much care in making them look natural! @_@ not only does she make sure to buy hair that matches your texture & color closely(you won’t tell where one ends & one begins); she layers the locs themselves around your head as if they grew out of your own scalp. tl;dr I’m extremely happy with the service I received~especially for the price. as long as she’s in NY, I’ll be a regular & I’m positive I’m neither the first nor the last to recommend her.

I visited Dee for the first time two weeks ago for an install of Havana twists. I decided to schedule an appointment with her after locating her on Unilocal. I scheduled my appointment over one month in advance. At 11pm, the evening before my appointment, I was notified that Dee did not have the hair necessary for the install. She stated that she will need to pick up the hair on the morning of my 9am appointment. This was the first event that made me uncomfortable, but it was not a deal breaker, so I still agreed to the appointment. When I arrived the next morning promptly at 9am, she had another client in her chair and did not start on me until 9:40. She admitted to waking up late that day, hence her late start. After she shampooed and conditioned my hair, she did not immediately detangle my natural hair. She proceed to state that WE needed to leave to pick up the hair. Unbeknownst to me, Dee does not drive and I had to take her in my car to the beauty supply with WET hair in the winter. After 20 minutes, we returned to the salon. By now 3 hours have passed. I have had this style completed by another stylist in Baltimore from wash to finish serval times previously. In short, Dee finished my hair at 2:40pm that afternoon. A three hour wash and style turned into a nearly six hour ordeal. I wound never recommend Dee to anyone unless you have a lot of time to kill and you need someone to talk to, as she talked my ear off and I know that her loquacious and unprofessional habits drew the appointment out much longer than necessary. My final gripe is in regards to her detangling method. On nearly dry natural hair she detangled me with a fine tooth comb from root to ends. Any professional hair stylist knows that you detangle from tip to root and use a wide tooth comb on naturally curly hair. Clearly, Dee did not get a tip from me. If I ever decide to install twists again, I will drive the extra hour to my previous stylist in Baltimore.

Dee is Wonderful! You can tell she really cares about you and your hair. I got small havana twist and they came out beautifully. It didn’t take her forever to do the style either. This was my first time meeting Dee, I got my baby Locs retwisted a week ago and I am still beyond impressed! She made me feel comfortable and at ease as soon as I came in the door. I also watched her finish styling a girl’s Locs that were almost waist length and she was cheerful and patient and even humorous! She used all natural products, gently exfoliated my scalp, washed, conditioned, AND gave me a hot oil treatment allowing me to chose the oil. She talked me through everything she was doing to my hair and gave me awesome advice. My hair and scalp felt amazing leaving there. I could go on forever. She’s just awesome, obviously gifted.

She. Is. BAWSOME! I got Havana twists and they look beautiful. She’s super friendly, energetic, communicates well, does a good job of explaining how to take care of your style. She’s conveniently located 2 blocks from the 34th/Penn station. I love her service and her knowledge of black, natural hair. I’ll be coming back to get more twists!
