Dorothy Shi’s work is amazing!
Sad that someone would post a terrible review for such a great photographer. What is funny is what was written its actually the opposite. When making an appointment with Dorothy she will advise you she has animals and a small apartment with that said if you are allergic then you should not have made an appointment. A few Days prior to your appointment Dorothy’s assistant will call you to confirm and remind you about the animals (Which are all cute and friendly). Dorothy has a small section to hang all your clothing and gives you advise on the wardrobe and what color would look best for the shoot. This past August three of my children had a photo shoot with Dorothy, the photo’s were absolutely amazing no photo shop required. Dorothy took pictures both indoors and outdoors. She has an amazing personality which made the photo shoot fun and relaxing for the family. The photo CD were given on the spot and the photo link was in my email within minutes of completing the photo shoot. THANK YOU DOROTHY FOR A GREAT EXPERIENCE!!! We will see you in Nov. for more photos.

Dorothy Shi. What can I say? This photographer is amazing in studio and on location. She gives great direction and has a very artistic eye. She is a guru for models in the NYC area and has the ability to get the very best out of her subjects. She has a way of finding beauty in the ordinary and also in making the beautiful absolutely breathtaking. Dorothy Shi is an amazing photographer! She has this innate ability to catch you in your best moments, in the studio or outdoors! She is so much fun to work with, and her team is too! Her professionalism shows in her work. This is just one of the reasons why I’ll travel all the way to New York to shoot with her. I know that I’m getting the best at Dorothy Shi Studio, and without hesitation I’d recommend her to anyone looking to get great quality photos. HORRIBLE shoot. The studio was disgusting and filthy, unsanitary to unpack. no hangers or press for clothes. Dorothy only shoots outside which I stated I wanted a mix of studio as well as outside and I did NOT GET ONE INSIDE STUDIO SHOT. She gives absolutely no direction when shooting, which is absurd– I have been in this business and have done print commercial work for a decade and to not even get a «neck down» or «chin up» is ridiculous.
I have never had such horrendous film in all my career. The makeup and hair was not present when we were on location they stayed in the pigpen studio which is absurd as well.
I did NOT get the shots I need and I have to reshoot. The person who referred me to her has to reshoot as well, so we are both in the same boat.
WOULD NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL– she may be good for group shots as her website looks decent but when you look at shooting individuals she is horrendous!
