I chose Dr. Fay based on the fact she accepted my insurance and had good reviews online. I needed to have a wisdom tooth extracted and was not looking forward to it, considering all the horror stories everyone seems to have about when they had it done to them. I went in first for a consultation and x-ray and she patiently answered my thorough list of question about dry sockets, nerve damage, IV or no IV, healing time, etc. Based on the fact I only needed one tooth pulled, it was on the top jaw, and it was already growing in, she assured me it was one of the easiest types of extractions(relatively speaking). I went in a few weeks later to have the actual procedure done. Before we started she clearly reiterated what she was going to do. I hate IVs but Dr. Fay and her assistant, Ruth, did a great job of trying to take my mind off of it while they were hooking it up(the laughing gas didn’t hurt either!). About 45 minutes later I woke up and the extraction was done. My jaw and face were sore but I didn’t need any pain killers — just Advil and an ice pack every so often for the rest of the day. I was able eat soft foods later the same day. Dr. Fay called me in the early evening to ask how I was feeling and if I had any other questions. I wish I could go to Dr. Fay again because she was terrific; but at the same time I’m glad I don’t anticipate needing to see an oral surgeon again anytime soon! If you need wisdom teeth pulled, I highly recommend Dr. Fay.

Dr. Fay is the best and if you see her you will be in excellent hands. I was very nervous about getting my wisdom teeth removed, and had been hoping to avoid it entirely(hence having waiting until I had an acute issue at almost 30 before I finally went in). Dr. Fay did her best to dispel my fears, and her confident, kind and reassuring bedside manner made me as comfortable as possible. As for the surgery itself, it went very smoothly and I had absolutely no pain. Recovery has been fairly uneventful and also almost entirely pain free, with minimal discomfort. Dr. Fay was excellent about follow up, even calling the evening of the surgery to check in. She is very patient and gave me plenty of time to ask any questions I may have had, both before the procedure, during, and in follow-up appointments. I cannot recommend her highly enough! Dr. Fay also practices in Tribeca. I’ve seen her in both offices, but my surgery was performed at the CPS office. The staff at both offices are excellent.

Disclaimer: I may be writing this review under the residual effect of nitrous oxide, so take it for what it is. :-) I arrived a few minutes late for the appointment but was taken in promptly. Dr. Fay is very good at making you relaxed. She had nice music going in the background which was cool. Everything was set up, and at the last minute I asked for the NO2 option, and her assistants set the contraption up quickly. Dr. Fay explained what she was doing every step of the way, and was very mindful of any discomfort I may have, but seconds into the the NO2 and by the 3rd Novocain injection, pain was the last thing I could feel. I kind of lost track of time, but it felt like the extraction itself took less time than the prep! Dr. Fay opted for no grafting when conditions allow, as she prefers to let the bone structure heel on its own, which would be my preference anyway. It was a great extraction experience, whatever that meant. I took two Advils for the discomfort as the Novocain wore off, then two Tylenols for the night, no discomfort since. If you need an extraction, she’s definitely someone you should look up. NOTE: To read more reviews about Dr. Fay, do a search in Unilocal for Tribeca Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
