Great Duane Reade location with all your drug store needs, really friendly employees and quick service. I came here a few times when other locations did not have specific items I was looking for, and they were helpful in locating specific supplies I needed and quickly honoring a return /with a receipt for those I did not use … Lots of holiday supplies and wrapping papers in the front of the store.

I live near this store and go there frequently. Tonight, a bunch of sketchy characters were waiting on line. One guy was beyond drunk. There was only one cashier and it seemed like there was a problem with the drunk guy. I left. Where was the rest of the staff? At night, there should really be another person up front —- not just one cashier all by himself! It seemed he asked for help(there were a bunch of people on line) and no one showed up to help! They also need to have more food items. There are no frozen fruit bars and, no grapefruit juice. And, they need to put another rug in the front. It’s a nice store… but, sometimes scarily understaffed. The neighborhood is not that great at night and there are some weird characters showing up in the store…

Over-the-counter drugs are kept behind the counter and close out at like 9 o’clock so when there’s no pharmacy there you can’t even get the prescription of what you want you have no access to it even though it’s over-the-counter hello ridiculous when it’s me and need that time

I’ve been going here for 8 + years now. the workers, for lack of a better word: suck. I know way too much about what they did last night, who they did, and what they’re going to do. Why? Because conversations among them are happening all the time at checkout for everyone to hear. Some nights, it seems like the crazy’s run this asylum. But, they got us by the nutz. When it’s 3am and you need some gummy bears, condoms and mouse traps, look no further; decent beer selection, too. If one wanted, you can buy all your food and drank here, but we aren’t in West Virginia. Still, options are here Felecia and we all about options.

The good thing about this place is the fact that it is open 24⁄7 unlike the 77th/Lex location. The convenience factor alone makes this place great for me on the way back from Penrose late at night for some hydration(cold Gatorades, w00t)

You know, if I compare this Duane Reade to the Rite Aid across the street and the CVS nearby on 1st ave, this store would get 5 stars. It is more often than not well stocked and looks relatively clean. The beer selection is decent for a pharmacy. The makeup selection is extensive and the store is well lit. Depending on when you go, some of the store clerks are properly trained on how to manage the customer experience. For example, the Red Bull 8oz 4-pack had a sticker saying it was on sale for $ 5.99. When I got to the register, it rang up at full price. I told the cashier that there was a sign saying it was on sale, he went to the back, saw the sticker, brought the sticker up front and honored the price. He said someone forgot to take it down, and he personally removed it so no other customers would get confused. I’ve seen store clerks in other locations not only refuse to go back and check on issues such as this, but even argue with the customer. Overall, I go here for the convenience and the fact that things are stocked. However, it’s a Duane Reade, where many items are overpriced on average. And when there are lines… OMG…it’s about as much fun to wait as it is to stab myself in the eye.

Ugh. I dread this Duane Reade with their slow, incompetent, and unenthusiastic staff. Where is management???

How do lines grow so long? How can customer service be so poor? How can a pharmacy be so disorganized? How does one store contain so many snarky-ass customers at any given time? After standing in a seemingly endless line(I will spare you the details) to buy Advil, on my way to meet friend C for brunch one Sunday, I finally stormed out of this DR, purchase not completed(not even close to the register after 10 minutes of waiting), head sore, cursing under my breath. I was still mumbling unpleasantries when I arrived, late, at brunch. Friend C said, «Uh, why don’t you just NOTGOTHERE any more, Coo?» Brilliant bastard.
