My favorite Chinese in the hood. The dumplings are legit. Everything else is good not great, but the lunch special is cheap and quick.

Live on the same block as this restaurant and noticed the same thing as the previous review has mentioned. Boxes of meet where stored on the sidewalk as their employees where smoking cigarettes next to the food. I have ordered food here before however stopped when their delivery man was rude with me and scared me when holding up my door. I allied their manager and complained and they hung the phone up on me. I hope you read this: I warned you and you wanted to be nasty with me. So I hope everyone reads this.

I used to order takeout here when I lived on east 78th now I live on UWs and there are no good Asian places. today I went to see a friend who lives next door apparently to dumpling king so I got an order of dumplings to go, so good, 10 large homemade dumplings for 5.50 and good what a deal! and they have really good shrimp fried rice, way better than the other 5 places I’ve tried on the uws.

Having never sampled Dumpling King, I recently gave it a shot for delivery. I’m still alive, so that’s a good sign. But I did almost die of starvation before my order arrived. Two orders of dumplings(10 each, at $ 5.50 an order — good deal!) and one order of orange chicken should not take 45 minutes to prepare and deliver. But it did. Was it worth it? Well, the orange chicken was probably the best of the three items I ordered. Perhaps they should change the name of the restaurant to «Orange Chicken King,» though it doesn’t have the same ring to it. The dumplings were satisfactory. The steamed pork ones were better than the fried beef ones. In a pinch, the King will come through for you, but don’t expect the royal treatment.(See what I did there?)

OH My! On our walk this morning I witnessed the foulest thing. If you see something, say something, right? Well here goes: I watched the Dumpling King employees open the restaurant w/the days delivery of chicken & beef. Walking across 82nd street I notice a pile of beef, wrapped in plastic, sitting in the gutter. Mind you, this is the same gutter my dog URINATES in REGULARLY. Perplexed, I keep walking up the street and see a big box filled with chicken legs sitting in the middle of the sidewalk in front of the restaurant. Not wrapped, not covered, nope, just out there. Just a pile of chicken legs in a box. On the street. And then I watch as one of the employees retrieves the beef from the gutter and throws it into the pile of chicken legs. I AMNOTKIDDING. Unreal. It wasn’t just that the(wrapped) beef was sitting in the street, no it was sitting in the gutter. If you have a dog, then you know how truly foul this is.

This is a nice spot to get your dumpling on! The service is spotty at best but the dumplings are worth the hassle. Eat and be merry.

Oh dear! I actually believed the positive reviews, my mistake. I ordered dumpling soup, but was served something entirely different. No dumplings, but instead a cloudy mixture of gelatinous, unidentifiable meats. I returned it, explaining I ordered the dumpling soup in clear broth. The cashier repeated it, and then brought out what looked exactly like the first order, only with dumplings. She was very kind, and brought out the correct order. Now I’m sorry I made the effort. I should have tossed the first soup and chalked it up to experience. What was delivered was gooey, thick-skinned, stale-tasting dumplings in a broth that can only be described as tasting like warm pee. I’m sure the cook was peeved at having to exchange the order twice. Lesson learned. I’ll toss the soup. And the ginger chicken. First, there were two little strands of flavorless ginger. Second, and probably worse, I’ve never seen or tasted chicken of that consistency. It was rubbery and tough.

It always starts with a random dumpling craving. It’s supported by Unilocal reviews of nearby dumpling restaurants. Isn’t it nice when the craving is fulfilled? Dumpling King delivered our order of three meats dumpling soup, scallion pancakes and chow fun so fast we didn’t get a chance to get our money together soon enough. The price was so right! It’s the average price of a cheap meal for two and it wound up feeding four. Dumplings in the soup were delicious, scallion pancake wasn’t terribly greasy and had the right crunch, and chow fun was tasty. Dumpling King rocks the world of my upper east side dumpling cravings.

I ordered shrimp dumplings and broccoli in garlic sauce via delivery last night while visiting friends on the UES. The steamed dumplings were huge, scrumptious and a perfect consistency. The tasty broccoli came in a generous serving as well. It had a bit of a kick and was VERY garlicky(my husband ate some too, so I wasn’t worried about offending anyone). Best of all, in spite of a rainy, cold evening, my food arrived quickly and piping hot. Definitely a good find!

Probably one of the better Chinese restaurants on the UES. The dumplings are fantastic, the rest of the food is pretty good. It’s a little pricier than the rest, though.(And now that I moved to Brooklyn, I’m REALLY missing this place. None of the Chinese places out here can even compare!)

Okay Chinese take-out, fast delivery, decent prices. Six free dumplings for orders over $ 20.
