Basement Laundromat with no frills and old machines but with that said they are super affordable and fast when it comes to wash and fold. I have never had an issue with my clothes so Ill continue to use Ecowash.

Affordable local wash and fold that will also send out your dry cleaning. If you bring in your own detergent, bleach, and fabric softener Ecowash will not charge you for soap. Rosa, who works in the mornings, is as sweet as can be. The only downside(although true of many streets in NYC) is that the street can be pretty stinky most days — not exactly the most appealing when you’re hoping to get your laundy cleaned. That being said, my clothes have never come back smelling anything but fresh.

All the reviews so far, I notice, concentrate on the nice lady who works there. Rosa is really sweet, and very helpful, but here are a few things to consider.(1) This laundromat also functions as a full-service laundry, which means that the machines are often full of clothing being washed by the laundry. In other words, you’re in competition with the business itself for a machine.(2) 20−30% of the machines are out of order at all times, some seemingly forever.(3) The machines are ancient and have been rewired so many times that it’s often difficult to know what the clearly marked controls will actually do when you set them.(4) The dryers charge you what they whatever they want to per 8(or 7) minute cycle.(5) Sometimes the machines just stop working en masse and go on strike. They’ll probably be repaired some day, but go knows when. There are better laundromats EVERYWHERE.

This place may not be the prettiest around but the woman who runs it is so nice and helpful, the price is right, and the machines are powerful and do a great job.

Great place to do a quick wash and dry. The lady who was working there was really nice. Our clothes came out at the exact time she said they would. I recommend grabbing lunch or dinner at Pasha, a nearby restaurant. Be very careful walking down the Ecowash steps. It was rainy and the stairs can get really slippery. The price is right and for out of towners like me, this place hits the spot.

Of all the chores I hate, laundry is the one that I hate doing above all others. Actually, for that matter I’m pretty much averse to absolutely anything having to do with soap and/or water — period! Guess it’s the cat in me. With all that said though… Ecowash makes this loathsome necessity about as tolerable as it could possibly be. It’s a bit cleaner than your average laundromat. The washers are going rate for this ‘hood and the dryers will get your clothes dry for about $ 1/load as long as you don’t overload them. Its attendants are all very friendly and helpful and if you go on a weekday afternoon, you’ll find plenty of freed up machines, thus eliminating the added ignominy of a long wait. If not, the attendant will gladly empty one(or more) for you right when you need it(them). The machines all use smart chip cards rather than quarters — that might seem an advantage, but a lot of the time you’ll need to keep reinserting your card a half a dozen times or more before the machine will actually read the stupid thing. However, the digital minute readouts will let you know exactly how much time it will be until your clothes are washed or dried. That makes it very convenient for running other errands instead of just sitting there waiting, watching your clothes spin ’round and ’round and ’round and ’round… The main thing that makes this washeteria stand apart from all the others though is its most fortunate location — right next door to the restaurant, Telepan. Telepan’s kitchen is in the basement just adjacent to Ecowash and the aromas that waft over and through the ventilation from there make all the inconvenience and indignity of doing one’s laundry more treat than task. Now that I think about it, «Blue Monday» never really looked so good! Ecowash, take me away!
