My friend went here once and recommended it as I use to live nearby. I had Unilocaled this salon and saw only one bad review about the stylist I went to, but it has since been removed(not sure if the company did that). Nonetheless I took a chance with Jamilah to work on these locks and did not have a favorable outcome :(I decided to get a cut and color and she burned my scalp!!! I told her before hand that this was a complete fear and also spoke with her several times while the dye was in my hair and she completely dismissed me. Trust me guys, I’m not the problematic complaining customer either. Weeks after I had burns in my scalp, that bubbled and experienced hair lost. Safe to say I won’t be dying this hair any more. The salon is nice and staff friendly, maybe visit another stylist? Good luck guys.

Awesome salon. Josh is amazing!!! When I decided to dye my hair blonde(i’m African American with dark ash black natural hair) a friend recommended Edris salon and I am so glad that she did. From the reception to the stylist the salon is top notch. Everyone is very professional, friendly and the herbal tea is just one of many wonderful extras. Josh is my stylist and he is the best stylist I have ever had, he explains everything very clearly and my hair looks and feels great. I highly recommend this salon-go see Josh for color!!! Sade also cut my hair and the cut is wonderful. Don’t let the price tag deter you-it is far more cost effective then having to re-do a subpar dye or cut.

I was searching for a colorist to capture what I envisioned for my hair when my friend recommended I go to Edris and see Jamilah. Although Jamilah does not do color, I decided to check it out. My only complaint is that I should have went sooner! My colorist was Cole — hands down a fabulous colorist! He was professional and intuitive when I was speaking about what I wanted for my hair color. He understood what I wanted and also recommended high and low lights to add dimension. I completely trusted his advice and felt from the start my color would look amazing. He also had to do some correcting of my last color job which I was nervous about. The results were remarkable! My hair is a beautiful shade that compliments my skin tone. I couldn’t be more happy with it! If you are looking to try a new color, needing a color correction or just a touch up on your roots. I highly recommend you see Cole — He will not disappoint!

Jamilah is, simply, the best! Even though a friend referred me to Edris, I went in extremely skeptical. I hadn’t gotten my hair cut in over 2 years and it is because I’ve had so many bad experiences with my hair type. I’m mixed and my hair was long, unruly & wiry. Usually people put a bunch of product in it and either try to flat iron it or thin it out. Because I’ve tried so many different things with my hair, it has lost its shape and needed a makeover. Jamilah suggested that we go with a short look so that I could get definition to my curls. I was against this since I have never had my hair above shoulder length. I even pouted a little bit when she immediately took 4 inches off the second I sat in my chair. I’m not pouting anymore. All the positive reviews about her are absolutely true! She knows hair very well and she knows what type of cut will work with your face structure. I love my new cut. I’ve never felt this good about my hair and couldn’t imagine going to anyone else from here on out. Thanks Edris Salon!

I too followed Sade from Ted Gibson. There were big shoes to fill(salon experience wise) however I was quite pleased with the service. I have been in a lot of salons in NYC and this place is up there. The salon is beautiful, the service is lovely and the staff is talented and attentive.

I absolutely love this salon, it has a lot of flavor and the energy is quite welcoming. I actually went to Edris Salon because I followed my stylist Sade Williams, who was previously at Ted Gibson. If you never got your hair done by Sade then you are not getting it done right!!. I’ve been with Sade for over 7 yrs now and she has taken me through countless hair styles, whether it be extensions, a pixie cut or rocking my natural doo. One great thing about Sade is she cares about healty hair care as well as tailoring your cuts to suit your face. We can all get a bob cut from Sade, but each and everyone will be different because the shape of our faces are different. I currently live in the DMV and I allow NOONE to give me a haircut or chemical treatments. The only person I trust is Sade and I gladly take that five hr ride to see her. I stand by her one hundred percent and you will not be disappointed if you go to see her. PS. She is able to add tracks to your hair that are sewn in and you will never know. Go get a consultation and be wowed, not to mention she is one of the sweetest most genuine people I know

I first began seeing Jamilah at Edris Salon in the winter of 2013. She encouraged me to being my natural(relaxer free) journey and it was the BEST choice that I ever made for my hair. I’ve noticed a remarkable difference in the look and health of my hair since she has become my exclusive stylist. I’ve never received so many compliments from strangers in passing as well as friends/family on my hair. From face framing layers to asymmetrical bob cuts to extensions she has PERFECTED every look that I’ve imagined and decided to try. Whether you’re looking to embark on a «natural» hair journey, want a trending hair cut/style, extensions installed to perfection or just want your hair nursed to health, I urge you to get to Edris Salon and see Jamilah. From the welcoming and eclectic setting to the impeccable service of the staff I couldn’t see myself at any other salon. You’re welcome in advance ;)

First off the customer service and phone ettiquette of this salon is impeccably superior to many salons high, low, and in between! My experience started over the phone with Tasha and Eric in booking and having to reschedule my first appointment with Sade not once but three times due to mother natures mood swing this N.Y. winter. Given the clientele and my idea of how the salon was I was slightly embarrased having to make these calls however I was put at ease by their understanding of my natural hair being affected by moisture and the rainy weather we were experiencing; I was scheduling a blowout and routine trim. Once I finally made it into Edris salon, I was greeted by these large oak(I think) doors and welcomed in by the very warm yet supper stylish front desk staff. If that was not enough Edris herself, while tending to her client, also welcomed me and said hello. Ok I will get to my hair and all the important stuff but I must mention the décor is tastefully exotic, fashionable and warm; I would even add pet friendly. I’m not a pet fan but there was a dog present and he/she didn’t impede on my experience at all. My wash was ok, I wish it was more intense and quicker. For a moment I thought perhaps my hair was a bit intimidating but I have been washed at similar salons to know that it shouldn’t be. Once washed and finally detangled I was in the hands of Sade! She above the warm welcome and comfy surroundings is why you make an appointment. She is quick, professional and blessed by the hair gods when it comes to a hair cut. I highly recommend turning your hair experience into an EDRIS experience and booking with Sade. I’ve been getting my hair done by Sade for years and have remained a loyal customer for the reasons mentioned. Thanks Sade for another perfect cut!
