This is the store for me. I was looking for fabric to cover an ottoman and found what I was looking for here, but only after having bought something I didn’t love across the street at twice the price. I also received great customer service and the store was well organized and tidy for the tight space, which is a given at these fabric stores. I definitely recommend going here first before other stores, because if you find what you are looking for, you’ll know you are getting a good deal.

Always my first stop in the garment district when I’m in search(or replenishment) of natural fabrics. While yes, jammed with tons of rolls, it’s easily navigable if you tell them what you’re looking for — even better if you bring a swatch. That being said, they have an abundance of wools, linens, cottons, etc… at prices that are unmatched. As another reviewer mentioned, check prices here and then shop around 38th&39th. If they have what you’re looking for, you’ll be back. Also, the owner is extremely helpful, knows his stuff and will bend over backwards to help you. If he doesn’t have what you’re looking for, just ask and he’ll suggest a place nearby that likely will. Truly one of the little gems in the garment district that I hope never leaves!

I was told that this is the best place around that offers the best price for the fabric I needed, and it seems right. $ 3 per yard. As long as you put deposit, they will find the closest fabric as possible for you, so leave piece f fabric and deposit if you can. If no deposit, they won’t work for you.

The store is swallowed up by fabric. You have to squeeze through rows of fabric while browsing. The prices of the fabric are not marked –although there are a few scattered pricing signs about. I’d directly ask the staff to double-check on the pricing though. The two men staffing the store that day were very pleasant and helpful. Most of the fabric I asked about were priced between $ 5 -$ 8 a yard, so fairly cheap. Despite being cheap, the quality was fine. I was happy with my purchases at the end, but, I wonder what the sales tax is on these fabrics, because the amount totalled to around $ 50, but they charged me an extra $ 7 bucks too(the receipt doesn’t show the details either). That seemed a bit fishy, but since the fabrics were fairly good deals, I didn’t make a fuss about it. I’d definitely stop back in some time in the future to see if I can find some good deals again.

Here’s what you do: start here, look at the various colors and prices for whatever fabric you’re looking for. Bounce around 39th street — the SAME exact fabric(yes, color will be the biggest factor) will be 2x as much — guaranteed. I’ve done it many times only to come back to this shop and buy what I needed. Picked up some surprisingly high quality cotton toile that I used for a party, some nice woolens and linens for clothing, and most recently some satin-faced taffeta that they gave to me for $ 5/yard(normally $ 8 there, normally $ 15 elsewhere, nice piece). If you’re flexible on color and looking for a bargain, this is a must stop.

Disorganized but decent. I found two great discounted fabrics here, both satin-like material only $ 3/yard. At first the owner(i think) seemed only interested in customers with larger orders, which I’m not mad at. The other guy working there helped me. When his measuring ruler fell over the table, I quickly went and got it for him and he seemed really grateful cuz he gave me a little extra fabric, so that was nice. While I was there, an older stinky man came in and went looking around the store for scrap material laying around… he found less than a yard of a black material and asked the owner if he could have it and surprisingly he said Yes and then proceeded to say«now get out». I thought that was sweet in a NYC way. Also after that, another man came in, this one definitely homeless and he asked the owner for spare change and the owner said in a low voice«I give you something every time you come in here but you can’t come in everyday, so No.» I think that’s fair. Seemed like a nice guy, kinda.
