Great fries! Falafel balls are solid. One of the best budget options in the area. Those fries will keep you coming back for more!

UES, and particularly the UUES needs more places like this. Delicious, fresh, cheap, filling. To me what sets this place apart is the freshness, quality and care they take. The fries are fried twice, so they are twice as good. The lettuce and tomato is really fresh and it makes the sandwiches so much better. The meat is delicious. The carefully construct the sandwiches for proper distribution. I love this place and come by everytime I go to my doctor.

Tight little place that I walked past a few times, food was good had a pita gyro. Very tight inside, if you side back you can almost see a circus juggling act as people pour in and out.

Perfect choice for lactose-free and gluten-free meal: tender scrumptious juicy baked chicken leg, flavorful seasoned rice, fresh salad and tahini sauce, only $ 8.50! Friendly service, too! Very limited seating. Lines may form during busy lunch time.

Great place to grab a good filling lunch under $ 10. I love the chicken kebabs with lentil rice here and the bakhlava for dessert. A must try if you’re in and around the area and need a quick bite. Service is fast and the owners are delightful.

Super good and really fast! A BIT on the higher end for price(cheapest thing is $ 8.50) but I would say totally worth it for a quick bite.

It’s all about the chicken combo platter. Really good baba ganoush, tender chicken, hummus, olives and veggies… make sure you ask for bread! My only complaint is that everything costs $ 8.50– maybe the sandwiches should be a little less? Doesn’t really matter though, I’ve been coming here for a few years now and they’ve never let me down.

I went to the Falafel Express for lunch today for the first time. I had the falafel sandwich, which comes with seasoned fries. The yogurt sauce and hot sauce I got on the side are delicious. The owner and staff are really friendly and attentive. Everything was fresh and tasty. Also, if you’re a tea drinker ask for a cup – perfect way to end the meal!

It’s cheap and it’s convenient… It’s just not very good to me. It’s just not very flavorful. For less money I can get more food and more flavor from any genetic halal cart. And unfortunately the fact that this place had an actual location doesn’t make a difference since it’s so bare bones and simple. I tried the gyro pita which was meh. I tried the gyro with hummus which was definitely not enough food for me even with the«salad» that was basically romaine lettuce with a slice of tomato and a slice of cucumber. The fries are excellent but I don’t go to a falafel restaurant for the fries. The one redeeming thing might be that it’s not so bad when my colleagues pick it I complain. I can happily eat here with good company… I’d just prefer somewhere else

Quick and tasty. The baked chicken was juicy and well seasoned. Kofta kebab was okay.

A really solid $ 4 falafel sandwich, but nothing spectacular. Honestly, I’m just happy when the falafel has a slight crunch to it, which a lot of places can’t even get right. The service was quick and friendly, and the interior reminded me of a Chinese takeout spot. No complaints there :) I saw a bunch of other items on their menu that looked interesting. It’s the only falafel spot in the area, so it’s got that going for it.

Falafel Express, what happened to you? The food is still solid, no-frills Mediterranean cuisine. Portion sizes haven’t changed. But with new owners came Upper West Side prices, and now there’s no drink included with the meal. I like buying local, but by increasing their prices to match Chivkpea across the street, FE’s losing my loyalty.

Way downhill since renovation and with ~35% higher prices. For years I’ve ordered the falafel sandwich — falafel used to be fried to order, well-sauced and good… and $ 4. Tonight: falafel balls were pre-fried and cold, sandwich was dry and bland with skimpy tahini and too much packed-in iceberg lettuce & woolly tomatoes, all in a clammy pita — and now it’s $ 5.50. Halal carts along Mt. Sinai a few blocks up Madison offer hot, freshly-prepped gyro or falafel sandwiches with better bread at $ 4 — better all-around.

Amazing falafel, good portions & the lentil rice/chicken is my favorite. All options on the menu is good judging from the constant walk ins. They can hardly close at 9:30 pm because of people walking in. I prefer this place much better to Mamoun falafel, bigger portions, higher quality, great price. Its best for a take out because the space is limited. Good thing central park is a block away, so you can have your meal at the park.

The gyro and falafel satisfy any hunger… when they get the order right. The staff often seems oblivious to inquiries and, as a result, get orders wrong. They have a $ 10 minimum for credit cards, which is an annoyance. The space is also very cramped, making you pay more attention to who’s pushing behind you rather than on your own food.

Came here during lunch time on a rainy day. $ 15 for lunch for two is not a bad deal at all. Most people take their food to go so there’s plenty of place to sits during lunch. We got falafel and fries. They officially have the best seasoned fries. I love crunchy spicy fries with a soft inside. Make sure to wait near the counter with all the to go people if you plan to eat there. Someone else took our order so we ended up waiting 20 min for our food. The owner was so nice and gregarious he offered us some sweet milk cheese baklava. It was flaky and melted in my mouth but the cheese was too hard. Great price and great food when you’re starving and on a budget(avg price for a meal and soda is $ 7.50).
