Went again a couple weeks ago, and unfortunately the menu is essentially cheese and select charcuterie, namely pâté and a few salamis. The bartender said they are in the midst of converting to an oyster bar, which, as much as I love oysters, I will miss the fun menu they had before, such as gnocchi, and anchovy melts! Change is hard ! We did try the Finocchiona salami though, which is a pretty dynamite fennel based salami. I feel like saying ‘slammin’ here even though it’s incredibly uncool. But it was salamin’. Ha!

This place has wine and foodstuffs. Good for: –catching up with old friends –dates –hanging out –chilling –brainstorming –drinking –eating –laughing –loving This has been a great neighborhood spot and a place of comfort. I’m always greated with a smile and leave happy and satisfied. You really can’t ask for more than that. *edited

Wish I could give it 0 stars. Blonde bartender with beard is absolute worse.

Really enjoyed the wide variety across a short menu of tapas. Come and enjoy this small, but not cramped restaurant. Arrived early on Saturday anticipating large crowds that didn’t materialize over our 4 hours here… Great wine list that includes selections from the Canary Islands as well as other old world favorites. Be sure to checkout the happy hour deals(oysters and wine!) Had the charcuterie and cheese plate(3 of each) which spanned the European continent. The boys enjoyed the meatballs and sloppy Giuseppe. All sized small but great to share. Of course! its tapas. Great Apple salad, zingy, acidic dressing was a great accompaniment to the richness of the cheese, meat and pâté. Looking forward to meeting friends here again. Hopefully they will have a similar playlist… Pop tunes reinterpreted in bosso nova style.

Absolutely love this place! Probably my favorite wine bar out of all of the one’s I’ve visited. One of the best parts was that on a Friday night, there was no wait and no line, and we were able to sit immediately. Wine: Great selection for such a small location. Extensive list from all regions in Europe. Food: Loved the cured duck breast and the gouda Atmosphere: Not too brightly lit, songs from the 90’s keeping it upbeat, the décor was classy, rustic and intimate — pretty much what you’d want/expect from a wine bar Service: The waiter there was super knowledgeable about both the long list of wines they had and the food menu(including the meats and cheeses). He was super friendly and was able to wait on everyone seemingly effortlessly.

Looking for a little wine spot that’s unexpected? Check this little gem out. It’s sexy; the music is amazing. Try the anchovy grilled cheese… ummmm.

Great bar and always comfortable. The atmosphere makes it a chill place to kick back with a glass of wine, but the chefs are there in front of you cooking up serous small plates that are just exciting! They offer half glasses too. Very good place to taste wine.

Great happy hour of half price wines. $ 1 oysters until 7. The sloppy ragu sandwich was delicious and not what I had in mind, but pleasantly surprised. Cauliflower hummus was green and okay. Great for a first encounter, early date/drinks.

I first discovered this little gem when it was called Terroir wine bar. About a year ago, the two owners had a parting of ways and it changed its name but kept its cool, unpretentious vibe, great wines and excellent food at a reasonable price. The bartenders are smart, nice and knowledgable and the wines are often fantastic. Come for happy hour and get many at a great price. I’ve had many a dozen of their small dishes and have been very happy with all of them; some are outstanding. I’m a bit of a wine geek; there are other bars as good as this, like Pearl and Ash, but none that I’ve been to can match the quality price ratio.

What a lovely wine bar with delicious food in a great neighborhood. The chef was awesome at customizing the dishes to become vegan and delectable, and every wine they served felt curated and worth savoring. My partner said the Riesling they served by the glass was the best he has tasted.

Went on a Monday night, sat at the bar with a friend, and loved it. Chill vibe. Great wine. Knowledgable, attentive bartender. Cheese board was way above average. And the chef let us go off menu with a twist on the Ragu — polenta instead of a hero. YUM! Will definitely go back.

Maybe my expectations were too high or it’s a fluke, but I really wasn’t impressed with the food. Nothing really stood out and I would have been happier if I’d went to a local diner or tapas instead. We went with the popular items: fries with a lemon aioli, toast with cheese and mushroom, fried mozzarella balls and fried chicken. If I had to choose the best out of everything, I would say the fries. You really can’t mess up on that but I would have preferred ketchup instead of the aioli. The citrus was too overpowering. I shall pass on this in the future.

This is one of our regular hang outs since it was Terroir. It didn’t change that much, and they kept most of the best food items. This place has excellent service, as well as food & wine. It is on the pricier side, but the quality of everything is worth it. You will be taken care of here. I adore the chicken, as well as the beet arancini. The wines by the glass are many! But I love that you can try before you get a glass. I usually know what I want, but this is nice if you want to try something new. It fills up fast… yet is rarely ‘crowded.’ Great music, too! I usually go with one or 2 friends. I spent my birthday there last fall, and reserved seats for 6 – 8. It was earlier in the eve, so this was fine for a group. I suspect this could get tricky later in the night. It’s not a big space to begin with. My gathering was just a happy hour social, so it made sense for us!

Came here on a cold Thursday night — such a chilled, relaxed vibe. Happy hour from 5−7pm, then midnight till close. Tapas were great too — get the meatballs and the mozzarella balls! Great place for date night. Wait staff were very attentive. Only downfall was the heavy rock music which was playing from time to time — ruined the ambience slightly — think a Michael Buble or soul /jazz music would have been more appropriate. Would still definitely go back though, a little gem!

Wow. The food. Try EVERYTHING on the menu. These guys manage to make the simplest piece of food like a meatball taste like a moist sprocket savory teenage fantasy in your mouth. And there is an excellent selection of wine. Oh and the chefs have a good selection of vinyl and nice taste to boot. So go check it out, have some tasty wine and listen to some obscure aphex twin.

If you’re a fan of Marco Canora and his work at Hearth and Brodo, you know you’re going to be an immediate fan of Fifty Paces. In what used to be the Terroir space, Fifty Paces now strikes a balance of the best parts of this restaurant trifecta on 12th Street. Terroir was certainly no slouch — their footprint in Lower Manhattan undeniable — but this new iteration is Hearth light, Brodo heavy and still a destination for oenophiles and beer lovers to boot. With a more punk rock vibe featuring David Bowie and Leonard Cohen murals on the wall, vinyl records playing in the background, and even an album request chalkboard with selections ranging from Cat Stevens to T-Rex, it’s got a killer vibe that channels an earlier East Village feel. It’s simply a fun, hip place to relax with great things to eat, drink, and get lost in. If I had one criticism, it’s a super caddy one that has nothing to do with their service or culinary prowess. I find their Fifty Paces font is remarkably cheesy. Not sure if it’s comic sans, but if it’s not it isn’t far off. It’s certainly no reason why anyone should ever stay away, though. It’s simply an awesome relaunch in the ‘hood that you should check out ASAP.
