Fred Torres stole artwork from his artists. He did this in collaboration with an interior designer, Meg Sharpe and probably others. He has been involved in many lawsuits and lost money(artists’ money) to drugs. Don’t show your work here, don’t buy artwork here(if it is stolen you are also responsible), and don’t support this person. The only reason why he hasn’t been arrested is because these cases are considered«civil.»

If you are thinking of showing your work here, or if you care about how this gallery treats artists it shows, read on: Reposted from an artist, my friend, who had an entire exhibition stolen from him. Absolutely evil. My name is Joey Lehman Morris. I am currently sitting in front of my artwork at a hotel in Soho, Hotel Hugo @hotelhugosoho owned by a NYC based real estate owner named Matt Moinian @moiniangroup This work was unlawfully leased to the hotel by a dealer named Fred Torres in Chelsea @fredtorresgallery for $ 12k, without my consent and without my knowledge. I have been trying to reclaim this work from the gallery since June, 2011, but without success, reason, or response. Upon trying to negotiate the safe return of my work to me from Hotel Hugo, the General Manager smiles and says«Have a nice flight home!» This transaction was facilitated by an interior designer named Meg Sharpe @megsharpeinteriors who likely knows where my other belongings are. Feel free to forward and repost if you like. Perhaps others will recognize the whereabouts of my 11 other stolen artworks #stolenartworks #hotelhugo #megsharpeinteriors #fredtorres #fredtorresgallery™@jjj_bird
