Free To Be Under Three

I took all three of my boys to Free to Be Under Three and it was a perfect fit for us. It was very authentically caring (not always the case) with a skillful eye towards serving toddlers developmentally. Overall, it was warm and creative and I was happy to be there with my little ones. Just seeing the wonder on their faces, their little joys and the myriad experiences I had with each of them there has left a lasting sweet impression on them and ME!

Excellent. Fun, smart, warm teachers, each with their own unique abilities to engage the kids. Great class size. Great social building activities. All three of my kids still love the «numbers» song! I recommend to all who are looking for something that stays with the kids long after class ends.

Sent both of my boys, and I can easily endorse this program as the one that had the most impactful, positive effects on them and us as parents. The program fosters creativity, playfulness, and is so child-​centered. All of that, plus the warmth and positivity from the instructors (and yes, Lisa B! «Nuuuuummmmmmberssssss» — we will never forget) feels rare and special. I’m grateful we had this program as part of the early, formative days of our boys.

I would write a really positive review if this were based purely on the teachers and the content of the class, but here’s the deal. The West Village location is bright, sunny and bigger. The UES location is in a basement without windows, a small space, mostly nannies. The make-​up policy is a pain — you have to call the day before at exactly noon to try to get a space. I am sure there is a reason they do this but it is still a pain. Like all things NYC, it is expensive. All in all it is a great experience for your child but I’m not sure I would do it again given the chance, unless I lived near the West Village location. To be fair I would probably give it a 3.5 but that isn’t an option. There is a reason this class has a great reputation and a waiting list, but I am voicing my opinion from my own experience.
