I just moved to the Sunset Park neighborhood and being overdue for a haircut, I was on the hunt. Thanks to Unilocal,I found this place which was a short walk and next to the park(they have amazing views of the Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty by the way). I decided to do a walk-in and around 10 am on a weekday, they only had one other customer and was able to take me right away. I put my rusty Spanish to work by describing what I wanted. My barber didn’t speak any English, but another one did in the shop and repeated it back to me in fluent English to make sure that we were on the same page. They take a lot of time with your haircut and are perfectionists. It was an enjoyable and relaxing experience. No rush jobs here! Prices were outstanding $ 12 + tip for a haircut and $ 5 for a beard trim /or removal. A few notes: They don’t have sink basins, so don’t expect a wash(I don’t, but if you’re going somewhere elsewhere afterward and want all the«loose» hair gone, I don’t think they have a way to guarantee that. Although the guy who took care of me put in a brand new blade into the razor and spent a lot of time working on removing my week’s worth of beard growth, it still looked like I had 1 – 2 days of growth left and he nicked me twice. It was relaxing, though. So, if you’re looking for a beard removal(versus a trim), perhaps this isn’t the place. Then again, I only tried it once and with this one barber(perhaps others are more skilled). Also, I believe that they are *****CASHONLY***** Anyhow, they’ve won my business and I plan to see them again in a few weeks.

This place is just down my block. I always saw it and my neighbors told me they were great with kids and wanted to try it someday. Unfortunately, my wife and I grew our daughters hair for a long time(2years or so) and never had the chance to go to a barber. We went yesterday before our routine family Sunday day trip. We were a walk-in and the lady that did the hair was very professional!!! I thought in the beginning maybe there will be some language barrier but my wife and the stylist worked out everything and communicated very well using gestures as well!!! Although my daughter did not look happy during the cut, it was only because she was nervous. The stylist was soooo used to kids, she would not forcee her to move the head and just go with the flow. At the end, she even tied my daughters hair in fashion which we never do and as soon as we got back into our car, my daughter so happy with her haircut!!! Parents with kids, I recommend this place very much. They have two entrances and the smaller barber I guess is more for the kids. There always is 2 ladies in the smaller barber so you cant miss them!!! There uniforms are orange and bright as well as their awnings. Right across from Sunset Park so after the cut, your kids have a great park to play in!!!
