Friedman-Hickey Katherine

Sadly, I had a horrible experience with Mrs. Friedman-​Hickey. I spent almost $ 5K on an implant for my front tooth. At the very end, the unveiling, she and her assistant said «Oh, what a perfect match.» This from a woman who told me her specialty was in the cosmetic (or visual) aspect of implants.
As soon as the cement (or whatever they use) set, they showed me the «perfect» results. My first comment was «OMG, this doesn’t match at all.» They were «surprised.» I was horrified.
I tried to get this fixed; they made it almost impossible. I’m still walking around with an embarrassing awkward smile. And, I’m out $ 5,000.

The woman is a crook. She charged my insurance for a service she didn’t provide, and trying to recover my money has been a nightmare. One year ago and I’m still out almost $ 900.00.legally I don’t know how she’s getting away with this.

During one of my early visits with Dr. Friedman-​Hickey, I expressed my thanks to God Almighty for some amazing luck taking place in my career. From that point on, she mocked my faith in the Holy Spirit, which I found quite unbecoming of a medical professional.
Dr. Friedman-​Hickey put a crown on one of my lower teeth. It was then no longer possible for me to floss between the crown and the tooth in front of it. Her assistant expressed immediate concern about this matter. The tooth in front eventually got a major cavity in the very section where it met the crown and had to be removed. My new dentist has proposed options for putting a fake tooth in place of the one that was pulled so that the above tooth does not grow down and eventually falls out. There are several options and they’re quite gruesome. The experience has been a nightmare for me.
Katherine’s father Jerome, who shared the space with her on Fifth Avenue also worked on my mouth. He reminded me of Count Dracula. Creepy

All of the negative reviews are just plain crazy. I’ve been a patient of Dr. Friedman-Hickey’s for years. She’s a lovely person number one and number two is a great dentist. She gives the patient personal attention with no hassles. Her front desk help is excellent. This is a small practice –a good thing in my book.
Ignore the negativity. She’s a great dentist.

~censored~ Dentist EVER! I over heard her complain that she wasn’t getting the volume of patients that she was hoping for (as I waited for my appointment– note, I was the only one there and STILL had to wait 10 – 15 mins for this dentist!) all she needs to do to read the reviews below to figure why!
She doesn’t have a dental hygienist, yet she refuses to spend the time or effort to perform a thorough clean! She verbally puts down her MA during the cleanings, who isn’t allowed to do anything, which makes it quite awkward. I don’t really care for the small talk, but be somewhat personable! I’m in the medical field too and you don’t enter a patient room with your mask already dawned and attempt to speak through it! Who does that?!
After my appointments with her, I take my own surgical tools to scrape the plaque she consistently misses!
On a separate appointment, I had a filling of a molar. Conversation that followed:
Dr. FH– oh, you’re not gonna like this since the filling sits so high.
Me– argay hawaaat? (during procedure with suction in my open mouth)
Dr FH– yea, you’re gonna have a hard time chewing. You may just end up chewing down the filling.
Me– agggajj, aharg ooowou ikcth aawet?
Dr FH– see you in 6 months.
I was tortured for MONTHS since I couldn’t eat! I couldn’t chew my food properly. I couldn’t enjoy my food since I was concentrating too hard on figuring out how to eat without biting my tongue for the 15 billionth time. Absolute horror! Out of utter frustration, I did end up grinding the filling completely off and now dealing with the occasional cold sensitivity in the tooth!
I really feel bad placing this review, what I really want to say would probably kick me off of the Unilocal community indefinitely!
Just very unhappy. I truly hope your experience is a better one. I hope Dr. FH improves as a dentist by taking this constructive criticism from me and the others as a positive way to redeem her practice. Best of luck.

I’ve been going to Dr. Freiedman-​Hickey for over a year now. Mostly cause she is across the street from my office and I was too lazy to find a new one, but I’ve decided its time for an upgrade.
Though I have not had any problems from the Admin side and always found the receptionist friendly and helpful (why they got the 2^nd star), I do have a problem with her work ethic. I’ve had at least 4 – 5 appts and never once has she flossed my teeth. I find her VERY rough, jabbing at my gums and really not looking where she is scrapping that tool. She even sees me wince in pain and never says anything. And they are always jamming that water suction thing in my mouth when its NOT needed!
My last appt lasted 20 minutes, and I agree with the complaints it as a half-​ass cleaning. It took at least 3 appts for them to even take xrays of my teeth. Shouldn’t that be done for every new patient so you know what your dealing with? Oh… and I’m pretty sure she put a syringe filled with Mouth Wash all over my teeth, that was just bizarre.
I also think its suspicious that the one 5 star review is from someone with no photos, no friends and no other reviews and joined the same month they posted the review.

She really deserves no stars. She is a price gouger with rather questionable business practices. Steer clear and run.

Stay away! I had a toothache and made an appointment on a Thursday for the following day. I did not say I was in excruciating pain or that it was an emergency, but they charged me a $ 45 «emergency fee» in addition to my office visit co-​pay of $ 5. I called my insurance company and they told me no such fee even exists. Can’t wait to dispute this charge between their office/​my insurance/​my credit card company! She was also rude and not terribly helpful. There have to be better dentists in this city!

One word, awful!
I Just moved to the City and Katherine Frediman-​Hickey was recommended to me by a friend.
I had my first appointment yesterday, a teeth cleaning. From x-​rays to teeth cleaning, my entire appointment was 30 min! Yeah, that’s right! Just 30 min! And get this! She did not even floss my teeth, let alone measure my gum thickness! And keep in mind, this was my first appointment, seems like she might want to get to know my teeth a little bit. I feel like I still need to get my teeth cleaned! I shouldn’t leave feeling this way.
I can say with certainty, I will never return here and I highly recommend you take your pearly whites to someone that actually cares to take the time.

I did not have my insurance card with me and the receptionist checked her roster and did not find my name. When asked to reschedule, I politely requested they call my provider. They refused. When I asked why, they said it was their policy. Friedman-​Hickey said, «It’s not fair for us to call for everyone who comes in. And quite frankly, I’m making $ 5 (my co-​pay) from this appointment.» Despite the fact that the $ 5 (not the call) seemed to be the actual reason for her rudeness and despite the fact that the receptionist was chatting on the phone about a beautiful vacation spot, I said that I understood and called them myself. Turns out I just needed to be transferred to her office, but Friedman-​Hickey refused again, citing their supposed «policy.» I am shocked at how bureaucratic this was and at poorly I was treated. My tooth is broken and I’m insured by a group that they accept! I have very little sympathy for her $ 5 co-​pay concern… why accept the provider in the first place?
