WORST SALON EVER! STAY CLEAR!
The women hacked off about 5 inches of my hair when I just asked for layers and angles. Then it was a straight across cut not a soft round finish at the bottom. To add to it there was a chunk missing and the women tried to fix it but moving my other part of my hair over it. Then when she dried it she used NO hair serum nor a brush just her fingers and the dryer so I had to go home and style it because it was a huge mess. I left the place in tears and will never go back!

Having recently moved to Roosevelt Island, I searched for local places to get my hair cut & colored. It’s a scary thing to trust someone new with your hair! I’m very happy that I found Fusion and that I trusted Elena! My color update is fantastic and I’m beyond pleased with the cut. I showed her 1 photo and got exactly what I wanted. She is a master with scissors and obviously knows her craft quite well. I will most certainly go back and already told my husband to plan on going for his next cut as well. I sure hope someone local asks me about my hair because I will gladly talk up Fusion and Elena and recommend both!

I was a bit pressed for time, and really wanted someone else to wash and blow-​dry my hair (instead of doing it myself). To begin with, I was 15 mins late for my appointment, for which I apologized for, and acknowledge that that’s not cool. The guy in front took one look at my hair and asked me whether my hair can be straightened (I have natural, kinky hair), to which I said «Yes, it can, and I’ve been here before.» I know that this place isn’t a natural hair salon, but I know what my hair can and can’t do too. I was starting to feel like an unwelcomed guest, but I kept quiet and waited for them to decide whether or not they were going to service me. Finally they agree, and the lady (don’t remember her name) walked me to the back for my wash. I had brought my own products, and showed her what was what. I think the actual wash and blow-​dry experience went pretty well, and my hair looked fine. After the blow-​dry, she passed a flat-​iron, throughout my hair, which I thought was part of the service.
The trouble started when I went to pay, and he quoted me a price $ 10 more than what was on the website. I was expecting this, since most places charge more by length or texture, so no big deal. However, first he said it was more because of «my type of hair», then he said that the flat iron was extra. So I told him politely that those are things they should disclose before the service, not after, and he started getting huffy with me. I wasn’t even arguing about the price itself, rather the manner in which it was quoted. I felt like they snuck in the extras, and I was simply trying to make a point.
Anyways, I paid and left there. I will not be returning again because I did not feel welcomed there.

We went to get a hair cut for our 7-​year old son. He didn’t want to get a haircut and as boys do when the way over done hairdresser came he told her he has lice. I laughed and told her he doesn’t. She then refused to cut his hair.
I went to the owner of the place, and explained. He decided the word of a 7-​year old boy is legally binding over that of his mother and sent us out of the salon humiliated and angry.
I intend to sue them in small claims court since what he did was unlawful.

Excellent salon. They are very detailed oriented, professional and friendly. There are just a few places like this in NYC.

Me and both of my children are getting haircuts at this salon for several years now. We have moved from Island few years ago, but still coming back to get it. It is worth the trip.

If you have a little boy, this is the best place in Manhattan to come get his hair cut. Boris does the little boys’ haircuts and he is a-​maz-​ing. His personality is quiet and understated, so he doesn’t get in their face or try too hard to be entertaining. He has a young son himself, so he is used to (and patient with) wiggly toddlers. And the haircuts he gives are excellent.
The first time my son got a haircut, I took him to some expensive UES place and he and I were both totally overwhelmed. TV screens, bubbles, dolls and toys for sale. The haircut cost something like 45 dollars, and was mediocre. I swore never again, and I started taking my son to Boris, who cuts my husband’s hair. He does such a fantastic job, and Alexander LOVES him. He constantly asks if we can go see «Mr Boyyis.» Even if you live across the river, it is honestly worth it to come one stop on the F line (or the tram) and come here. The haircut is 15 dollars, your kid will be happy and not stressed or overwhelmed, and his hair will look great.

Great place to get a hair cut! Boris is the best and he really listens to what you are asking for.

I came into Fusion for a simple cut because it’s close to home, and I was planning to have a keratin straightening treatment at a salon in Midtown (which charges more based on the length of your hair) — but Fusion offered the keratin treatment for only $ 149 (my hair is below my shoulders).
Hair OSH charges about $ 500 for it, so I was grateful to find a place that was convenient and offered the same service I needed. I still have my Groupon for Hair OSH to use by October, so when this one fades out more (which will be soon), I’ll try them out there.
The stylist here at Fusion did a great job, and the manager was also friendly. My typical salons offer beverages, wine, etc., but I don’t think anyone offered me anything. It seems like more of a Quick-​Cut barber type of place; nothing very fancy. The Keratin straightening started fading quickly about one month after the treatment.
This place is great to visit for a quick haircut (I haven’t had coloring done there), but would recommend their really good prices on the Keratin straightening!
