Gapstow Bridge

Lovely bridge in lower Central Park. For love couples a perfect place to marry. Used in many movies and tv shows.

The background of our fairytale wedding! We were married on August 29, 2015. I wanted a ceremony in Central Park. I did my research and did an exploration with my future sister in law. This was by far the best. Enter the park at 5^th Ave and E60. It was a short walk with minor hill which was important for my Dad who would have difficulty with distance and steep incline.
If you plan an event, Central Park does not require permit if less than 20 people gather.
This is now our spot!

The stone bridge near the ice rink, near the Plaza Hotel (now Plaza Hotel and Condo) and the one who IMHO no one knows the name of … well, it’s the Gapstow Bridge.
Originally wooden and cast-​iron, though for the last hundred-​plus years made of stone, this bridge allows you to get from one side of The Pond to the other.
It’s been shown in movies (one of the Home Alone movies comes to mind), TV shows, family photos and I’m sure countless Facebook pages. I’ve ridden a bike over it, walked over it, sat on top of it and even once went under it.
Check it out next time you’re near the southeast corner of Central Park.
