$ 30 for the most mediocre plate of pasta I’ve ever had? Pass.

The service was HORRIBLE! The waitress was extremely racist and did not even try to hide it. We were asked inappropriately racial questions and was only offered a seat at the bar. Only after we asked for a table were we seated. Once we were seated, the waitress did not return. We were not served until a long time later. Waitress had an attitude and did not seem to care about customers. Will NOT return! Crowded and poor service. Music was mediocre. Not worth the price.

I must say my one and only experience with this establishment was disturbing and disappointing. My fiancée and I happened to stroll in around 8pm New Year’s Day. Place had a decent sized crowd but not overly packed, enabling us to get seated at the bar upon entry. We waited patiently for some service from one of two bartenders, let alone acknowledgement. Unfortunately neither came although several customers in our immediate area were being served accordingly. We waited rough 10 – 15 minutes before deciding to walk out. Not sure if this review is deemed abnormal after seeing several others questioning the customer service of this establishment. I’d say that some type of change is needed and hopefully they do so in the near future since so many people in the area love live music while dining.

Ok so it’s closing! So sad! This place was a great find and wonderful. Music was perfect! Drinks were great! Wish I could see them again but I guess that’s the was business goes! I hope the village gets a new place to sit and listen to great music!

The Jazz is hot and the drinks are cool! And no cover or drink minimum. How great is that? Intimate setting. Can order dinner if one chooses or hang by the bar where we did with a nice cocktail or two.

My friend and I found this place at the last minute. I usually look up places on Unilocal beforehand but we just didn’t have the time, and we were hungry and cold! We got seated upstairs and waited on by this guy. I cannot remember his name for the life of me because he was talking so damn fast the whole time. We didn’t even get a minute to settle down to take our coats off… he’s already rushing & asking us for something to drink. I politely asked if he can give us a minute. And he «tried» to be funny by saying«but it’s just water» — he said it sarcastically(which I did not appreciate) while looking at me and my girl friend, waiting for a laugh. If I had wanted water then I would’ve asked for it. And if it was just water — give us a damn minute(I asked politely!) and bring out the water regardless. Don’t get at me with an attitude. From the getgo he already rubbed me the wrong way! He brought the water out and was trying to fill us in with the brunch option for limited drinks blah blah blah… I did not get anything he was saying because he was talking so damn fast! It was hard to catch anything he said, and my friend and I were literally like, «what?» … And he was looking at us like we were stupid. I wanted to punch him in the face!!! I ordered the eggs Benedict and my friend got the southwestern omelette. The eggs Benedict was soooo bland. NOTHINGSPECIAL. The omelette was ok. Our server didn’t do a good job refilling our drinks even though we paid for the unlimited drinks. He literally cornered us into paying for the unlimited, which just wasn’t worth it. Ugh! When we tried to get his attention to ask for the bill, he shot us with the nastiest look! This biatch had something stuck up his butt!!! He’s so rude! He ruined our whole experience there. I couldn’t wait to get out of this place. It’s not worth it!

I don’t know what is going on here, but this place is a disaster. They were sold out of most of their wine. The waiter could not tell me what they had in stock. The table next to me tried to order three different dishes from the menu, all of them were not available. We got up and left.

It’s all a lie! First of all, this is not a garage. Don’t try to park here. They claim to have the most live jazz in the world. [citation needed] Their musicians all look like Mark Zuckerberg, and they take exceedingly long breaks. The elusive and affordable«supper“menu The stewardess offering a «complementary drink booklet» The table having a drinking menu that the waiter didn’t recognize and drinks that didn’t exist. Also it was more like $$$$ than $$ Two stars because at least they didn’t pee on our faces.

Every time I’m in NYC I try to make it out to The Garage. It has such a groovy atmosphere even without the music. I’ve had several of the entrees and have not yet been disappointed. Whether you sit down to eat, have a drink outside, or sit at the bar, you’ll be able to take in the Jazz. The bands that I’ve seen there have been everything from electric jazz to traditional acoustic. I believe they try to book three different groups per day. Every visit I’ve had to The Garage has been accompanied by great service. I’ve always left happy. In summary, go, eat, drink and enjoy!

I had a solid time — but I didn’t do the brunch deal. Got an omelet and the one free mimosa that came with it. Food came out quickly — it’s definitely a place where they pump you in and out(hehe) and you don’t linger. Their goal is to have all diners finish within one hour of placing their order. The jazz band was pretty good — we got there at 11:30 and they started at 12, so i didn’t hear them the whole time, but enjoyed the parts I listened to. Wouldn’t highly recommend this place but i would return and would suggest it if i couldn’t get in elsewhere in the neighborhood.

Garage restaurant and café NY Manhattan East Village 11:59pm Friday 5th June 2015 Three Stars We were trying to see some live jazz but Arthur’s Tavern had a long slow moving line so we wandered into the Garage and heard some jazz trumpet with a bit of Latin drumbeat. We enjoyed some drinks at the bar. I had two markers mark which was served in a tiny goblet glass. It wasn’t bad place to hang out.

Probably my worst brunch experience. The food was barely edible — I got the smoked salmon eggs benedict, and it was sad and bland(and kinda made me sick later in the afternoon). In theory live jazz at brunch sounds fun. We were seated at a table directly in front of the jazz band. The music was nice for the first five minutes, but made it impossible to have a conversation without shouting at each other. Service was also very slooow and unfriendly. In short and in my opinion, there are way better brunch places to go to in the area.
