Gary Reska & Assoc

I have been a satisfied customer of Gary E. Reska Assoc. now Emmerman, Boyle & Associates, for a number of years. I’ve always worked with their Michael Goldman, a retired IRS agent and atty and he knows my tax situation. I have found them to be very competent and knowledgable and recommend Reska without qualification. Mr. Goldman is especially courteous and friendly. I have found they’ve saved me money on taxes and they’re well worth their prof. fee. Obviously the earlier you file the less crowded they’ll be and if possible you should familiarize yourself with your own tax situation in terms of general treatment under the IRS code. This is especially so if like me you have Sched. D and advanced investment taxation/​margin interest deduction/​carryover/​capital vs ordinary income election considerations.
IMPORTANT: THE NAME IS NOW EMMERMAN BOYLE & ASSOC. Mr. Reska retired and sold the firm — same good people and service.

I went today to get my 2011 taxes done. Gary was very friendly in setting up the appointment and Ed, who I ended up working with, was helpful in answering all my questions and great at explaining my deductions (which was sooo great because that’s always the most tedious part of the process for me…). He was very knowledgable and professional. Worth every penny! I’ll be going back annually.

They are horrible They did my taxes for about 10 years. I do not know how to read or understand tax returns which is why I pay and rely on an accountant to do the right thing. When The IRS caught up and I got audits they told me to go to the audit by myself and play dumb. Never called to find out what happened and when I went in to complain he said we’ve been doing the same thing for years (just waiting to get caught I suppose) No skin off their back as I am the one responsible. All I wish is I could ruin their lives how they have ruined mine.

I have been going to Gary’s office for over 10 years, continue to go even though i moved to Brooklyn. I find that his team provides excellent Tax and advice service.
I highly recommend Don to prepare your taxes.

Ask for Ed Mignogna, he’s thorough and leaves no stone unturned. Have been going to this office for years and gladly fork over the money for piece of mind.

I had an awful experience. Why did I just pay $ 250 for that?
What went wrong;
The guy who was helping me did not introduce himself.
He wouldn’t print out the pdf’s I had on my smartphone and email and made me go around the block to print them.
He didnt look at me or say more than a few word answer the whole time.
He got up more than once without excusing himself to microwave his coffee!
He did not review last year’s return that I e-​filed myself and asked him to review.
He did not answer my questions completely and brushed me off when I asked for explanation.
Once he said he was done I had to remind him about $ 1650 expenses I told him about earlier that he skipped.
When he was done he e-​filed before I could ask him about my medical or additional transit expenses.
I wish I e-​filed and saved myself the money I paid this guy for his advice!!!
However, Gary was there and seemed personable and asked questions. if you manage to actually meet with him it might not be so bad.

I’ve been going to Gary and his team for at least 12 years. They’re quick, efficient, and always have the time I need for an appointment. They’ve always been very helpful whenever I’ve had a financial question. I highly recommend them for your tax preparation needs.

I’ve gone to Gary for two years straight now and both times they’ve done a great job with my taxes. They’ll help you find every possible write-​off you can legitimately get, and not charge you an arm and a leg for it like some places will. Filing my taxes on my own as a single person cost me $ 110 with them (not sure what the price differences would be with a couple or a business). Last year for some reason, I hadn’t gotten my tax return yet 2 months after I had filed them. I called Gary to see if he could find something out for me. He called whoever he had to call and got back to me that same day and told me that my return was in the mail. I got it within 2 weeks from then. If I had done my taxes on my own, I never would have know what to do in this situation. Go to Gary, don’t go to some chain like H&R!
