Dr. Kafka has been my family’s dentist for 3 generations — my grandmother discovered him when he was just out of dental school, and none of us have ever met a better dentist yet! I’ve had to go to other dentists when I wasn’t living in the NY area, and just like the other reviewer stated, they convinced me to do extra dental work that wasn’t necessary, while Dr. Kafka always does exactly what your teeth need to be perfectly healthy, and no more. He’s skillful and professional, and he’s also as nice as they come, as are the hygienists who work with him. Their office is friendly and personal, in a way that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a small town rather than an office in midtown — but a small town with truly excellent dental care!
Whenever I go, I wonder why people dread going to the dentist… clearly, only people who don’t go to Dr. Kafka!

I generally dread going to the dentist unless I am feeling serious tooth pain, mainly because of the raw feeling that I normally get after a cleaning, but also because I’ve been charged in the past for work that was unnecessary by some shady crooks.
But upon a friend’s recommendation, I saw Dr. Kafka and was pleasantly surprised by how nice and honest Dr. Kafka is. Literally, a few weeks after I had been told by another dentist that I had 5 cavities that needed to be filled in, I went to see Dr. Kafka who told me that I was cavity-​free. (!!!) That was several years ago, and I still haven’t had problems with my teeth, so I truly was cavity-​free.
He also really takes the time to explain things in detail to you if you ask him any questions. He is also really knowledgable about teeth (a good thing for a dentist!) .
I won’t trust anyone else with my teeth!
