All the friends I’ve brought to Go! Go! Curry have enjoyed the food. I’ve been to this location twice. I’m a fan of Japanese curry; there’s something about breaded chicken katsu covered with hot curry over a bed of rice that always hits the spot. The grand slam platter is a steal for only $ 12.50, perfect for one of you’ve got an appetite and great to split between two as well. Their other regular sized options are even cheaper of course but just as good. Service is always quick; you order at the counter and pick your food up on a tray once it’s ready. You also return the tray back to the counter at the end. It’s a no frills place with only a few tables, so don’t be shy to share your space! I’ve always been here a little before 6pm, it’s best to beat the dinner crowd if you want a seat. I’ve also been to the location near Times Square which is bigger with counter seats and a few larger tables. It was empty by 9pm on a Thursday night so great for a late dinner!

The Grand Slam was amazing!!! Would definitely go back again for it. It can be both take-outs or eat in!

I love the food here and the price is so reasonable! I come here a lot with my boyfriend. The curry is delicious! I usually get the small Chicken Curry which comes with Chicken(of course lol), rice, cabbage(?), and curry which is out of this world! But i recently decided to try the Chicken Home Run w Sausage. It comes with Chicken(duh), rice, curry, sausage, egg, and shrimp :) Its enough for two ppl but it was soo good i ate the whole thing xD I really recommend the Home Run~ This place is awesome! And right across the street is a board game café where you can play for $ 5 the entire day! Its the perfect date night!

It’s a grungy little hole-in-the-wall with a couple of tables. We had the pork katsu curry. It’s fine with you’re looking for food to soak up all the alcohol sloshing around your stomach after a long night of drinking(except they’re not open at 2 am). It’s not my kind of place, but it could be yours.

Very affordable Japanese curry! Great lunch spot on a good day when you can just order the curry and go to Washington Square Park. They have either pork or chicken katsu. Double it just mean more rice on the bottom. I would recommend to add the pickles(either rakkyo or fukujinzuke) to balance out the richness of that curry sauce. Japanese curry is not as spicy as Thai or Indian curry but it always hit the spot with that unique sweetness and savory combination.

Hardly a hidden gem of the village, but an overlooked one by this daily passer-by. The overt exterior is presented with a plastic copy of what their typical dish looks like, which never sat right with me. For some reason, I erroneously judged this place as too cheap and simple to fool me… well who’s the fool now… Allow yourself to give this place a fair chance. The food, like the minimalist décor, is simple, yet incredibly flavorful and filling; and the curry truly is something to «Go! Go!» running home about.

One of the best Japanese curry restaurants in the area. Very small dining area but other than that the food is amazing and at a very affordable price. Great location right by NYU so it is a very popular lunch spot in between classes. Highly recommend the pork katsu single or double. It is more than enough to satisfy any hunger. The home run or grand slam is also a great deal for those who want a little bit more(comes with egg, sausage, and shrimp tempura.)

Hands down the best place for Japanese style curry in the area! It’s also super affordable and conveniently located for lunch between classes at NYU. I grew up eating pork donkatsu so it’s really great comfort food. Proportions are great for the price and the service is quick and efficient. They have a card minimum of $ 10 and only like 2 tables, so be prepared to take your order outside.

This is my first time at this location. I’ve been to the other Go Go Curry near Penn Station. This location is a bit smaller. Only 2 – 3 tables. Food is still excellent. I got the Pork Katsu Curry walk. I should have gotten the Single which is only 50 cents more. Anyways, the Walk is a decent size. What else can you say? Curry is the ultimate comfort food. Nicely battered, fast service, no frills.

Damn if it doesn’t take a minor miracle for them to pick up their phone around lunch time but when you gots the Go Go curry craving what can you do. I guess online ordering if the next step. Homerun pork katsu all the way.

Good, quick fix for Japanese curry by Washington Square and NYU. Fairly priced. I believe it’s about $ 7 for the single-sized katsu curry. Consider taking it to-go and going to the park on a nice day because there is very limited seating.

Had an interesting experience when I dined in yesterday. I was a big fan of Go Go Curry when I was a student in the area a few years ago so I was looking forward to destroying some comfort food before going to a basketball game yesterday. I was prepared to just give this 4 stars by default but that didn’t happen. I ordered the Home Run Curry($ 9.50), which came out to $ 10.34 after tax. The Filipino dude who took my order looked tired and apathetic as hell; guess he was having a bad day(I feel you son). So my food came out and he handed it to me on this tray that looked like it had been used for a rat orgy. It was dirty as hell and had like duct tape on it or something. I was like damn, this tray is dirty. I looked at my food; it looked pretty good but I noticed that it wasn’t that much food. Also, I realized that I get a choice of chicken or pork katsu for this order and mine was chicken. I was like yo, I’m pretty sure this guy didn’t ask me. So I ate my chicken katsu; it was good. Pretty crispy and went well with the curry. The shrimp was fried nice and light; that went down good too. The sausage was also a pleasant surprise — I enjoyed its texture and how it exploded when I bit into it. And love the flavor of the curry. I finished my meal but couldn’t help feeling a little dissatisfied because I wasn’t 100% full and also cause of the aforementioned factors. So I decided to use my communication skills to pose a polite and gentle grievance. I informed the other Filipino dude who had taken over at the register that I didn’t get a choice of pork or chicken, and asked for a bit more rice and curry to compensate. Now, some friends I know would hesitate to ask for this but I’ll be damned if I pay my hard earned money for a meal and end up feeling screwed over. I didn’t even care if consuming more greasy curry would result in diarrhea. This other dude seemed a bit more friendly and informed the first dude who had initially taken my order. The dude was like whaat? This is my fault? I asked you! I explained to him that I didn’t appreciate the attitude and that I didn’t hear him if he did ask. They both stood there stunned and looking at the floor for about 5 seconds. But my request was granted; I got my additional portion of rice and curry. Yay. Interesting experience if anything. Nothing against the dude who took my order and I gotta give these dudes credit; they seemed like they were working mad hard to hold it down for Go Go Curry. Can’t be an easy job. At the end of the day the type of service you get matters and word to keeping the customer satisfied within reason. It could have been handled a bit better but I appreciated that these guys hooked me up with some more food when I asked. Let’s go Violets.

I love go! go!curry! I mostly frequent this location and the one in the financial district. It’s a cheap and quick and easy meal without feeling like fast food. The curry contains pork and is the perfect consistency of not too thick and not too loose. It also has a noticeable level of spicy by default, which I enjoy. My regular is the chicken katsu curry, and the single size is enough to fill me. The shop itself is small but welcoming. There are 3 tables, and dining in is worthwhile to get the katsu at its crunchiest and the curry at its hottest.

Grand Slam is good value. With $ 12.5 you can get really stuffed. Katsu had excellent texture and curry had a balanced flavor. I won’t call it best curry in town but it’s well worth the price.

Amazing, I’m surprised I still haven’t reviewed a place that i frequently go every time I’m around the city. This is an excellent choice if you want something cheap, filling, and good. My usual order is the single katsu curry with Fukujinzuke topping, coming down to about 8-dollars, however I urge you to try the Grand Slam. for 12.50 you get giant portions with a little bit of everything(pork/chicken cutlet, sausage, shrimp and eggs) that can serve 3 people(or just one if you’re feeling selfish) Truly one of the best cheap eats around the city!

BESTLUNCHINMIDTOWN! Especially if you’re broke but hungry. I personally am a very picky person when it comes to curry. I’ve been ever so spoiled by the homemade versions that I never understood people that ordered curry outside. until now. Where have you been all my life GOGOCURRY? My favorite lunch spots when I’m not craving anything in particular! I really recommend everyone to give this place a shot. at least once! I like the chicken katsu curry. I’ve tried the homerun one with different sides. I fel the shrimp tempura was a bit tooo greasy but everything else was so delish! .If only I could finish that much food in one sitting.

I was initially dubious to try this place because I was under the impression that it was weird fast food, but I am so glad I gave it a shot. The prices are steep for the amount of food you get, but I urge that you get the Grand Slam. A lot of food for $ 12.50. It’s worth it when you compare it to the Single which is already $ 7 and only half as much food. I normally split the Grand Slam with a friend because there’s no way I can eat that much. The place is small, so seating is limited. I take it to-go pretty often, but think that you get more if you eat in. This is really good Japanese curry and the only place around that you can get it. If you’re wavering, just give it a try and you won’t be disappointed.

This place is a nice near college quick curry shop. I love their pork curry. It was great and reasonably priced. The only thing that bothered me was the fact that their credit card minimum was $ 10 and their regular sized entrée was around $ 7.50 I think. It wasn’t a big deal with the money, but it was just an inconvenience being told that I have to order more or something to be able to use my credit card. I thought maybe it’s just me because I only wanted a regular sized entrée, but right after me some woman ran into the same issue. Food was good, but that little credit card minimum just made it meh to me.

I’ve been on a Japanese curry kick these days — Go Go Curry definitely hits the spot. This location is much smaller than the one on 38th(2 tables) but I found no difference in the quality of food, contrary to other reviews I’ve read. My go to is the chicken katsu. The batter on the chicken is light and the cutlet is fried perfectly. You get a nice crisp crunch with every bite, even after the curry has soaked into the pieces. The curry is on the thinner side and has very little heat but packs a nice flavor. There is always just enough to coat all the rice. I think the size differences come down to how much rice you want but whatever your choice, it’ll come to less than $ 10. Sweet. Will be back again and again.

Ate here last night and ordered the home run with pork katsu. It comes with rice, salad, sausage, shrimp tempura, egg, pork katsu, and that all important curry sauce. It’s delicious, filling, and cheap! Nearly all the players are $ 10 or less and their service is quick so you won’t spend too much time waiting for your food. Definitely a good spot to hit up if you’re in the Washington square park area and need something tasty and cheap

There’s a $ 10 minimum for card, but a lot of restaurants in the area(west 4th) are cash only or have a minimum, so if you’re in the area its always nice to have some cash(there’s also a lot of banks/atms so it shouldn’t be a problem). The restaurant is pretty teeny, there’s 2 tables and they probably seat 4 people each. If there’s more than 10 people in the place at one time I feel like it would be a fire hazard ahaha but the food comes out super fast and its pretty cheap, you could get a good curry/donkatsu meal for $ 5 – 10. I like the chicken katsu with a lot of hot sauce. its so crunchy and delicious and if it wasn’t deep fried then I would consider having this every single day.

TBH the quality isn’t like AMAZING but dude it taste great. It’s a lot of my friends go-to spot because it’s around 8 – 10 $ for a satisfying meal. It’s also yummy cus of its curry and their toppings is YUMESP the shrimp. The inside is super small so enough room for like 2 – 6 people in total? So usually we just grab and go to park or Nyu Kimmel. Quick eat, then get to study! Perfect for uni students. The curry on the rice is right, doesn’t feel too heavy. I def recommend ESP if you’re trying to find quick food. Also on any 5th of the month, 5,15,25 etc, you get free topping coupon!!:)

If I didn’t smell like curry all day that day, the day after, and even possibly the day after that, this place would get five stars. Stopped by here right after stopping by the uncommons as a quick bite and it was worth it! The food: I’m pretty snobby when it comes to East Asian curry. Even more so when it comes to donkatsu. But I was definitely satisfied here! For five or six dollars, this is some of the best food you can get. For a little extra, you can add a sausage, an egg, some deep fried shrimp, etc. It’s great. The curry was slightly spicy but the hot sauce on premise makes it just right. The donkatsu was fried well and the rice was neither too little or too much in both quantify and overall doneness. The other add ons seemed interesting but I’ll have to come again to try them out! The venue: Small and cramped. It only has seating for maybe eight people at most. Definitely not a place to come sit and eat with a crowd or even when it’s rush hour. Come here late at night or just to grab something to-go. The service: No real service here. Just order, get your order, eat, return tray. The guy was nice though if that counts. Overall would definitely come again to try their other options. Just maybe with a change of clothes wrapped in odorless bags.

Okay, i think people who are leaving reviews here expect a five-star resto. Its not. Its a no frills curry katsu place, people. Yes, the curry is going to be salty and sweet. the cutlets can be greasy, but come on! BF and I came here for some lunch. I got the XL curry with pork and he got the grand slam(I think). He said he couldn’t have cared for the sausage and the shrimp tasted like a chinese resto crab stick, but he was into the cutlet, curry and rice. This obv. isn’t the best that NYC can offer as far as curry & katsu, but if you’re looking for a quick, greasy and cheap meal, here it is. Its satisfying. I’ll definitely be back when I feel like leaving the building for lunch. Be ready to do take-out as there are only 8 chairs!

The $ 10 credit card minimum was kind of annoying(so bring cash if you go!), but otherwise, no complaints here. You can get the curry in a variety of sizes, but I don’t really know how big of a difference the different sizes really are from each other. For example, I’m pretty sure the ‘single’ is not much different from the ‘walk’, and per the cashier, the only difference is a little more rice and a little more curry(ie. same amount of katsu). I got my curry on the side(thanks to the suggestions of my fellow Unilocalers!), but I ended up using the majority of it anyway. The curry isn’t all that impressive, and it pretty much looks like the greenish brown slime that I could make from a box at home, but I thought the chicken katsu was really great. It was obviously freshly deep-fried and had just enough crunch to satisfy. I didn’t like that I ended up smelling like the restaurant after only being in it for 10 minutes though. Good thing I took my food to go! This is probably the place I’d come once in a while if I needed some comfort food, but otherwise, having too much of this deep-fried goodness is probably not all that great for my coronary arteries.

So, this surely isn’t the best NYC could offer in Japanese curry. Being in the mood for some curry for late lunch, I found this place on Unilocal as it was the closest curry place to Washington Square Park. Anything 3.5 stars or above are worth a try in my book and this had 4, so I decided to walk in. TINY. 4 tables of 2, so 8 max seating. It’s really more a greasy spoon, take-out type of a place. These types of places typically are outstanding, so even through the grease I am looking forward to ordering a quite reasonable $ 7.50 dish of katsu curry. They have 4 sizes, from mini to large, and small is really for 1 person. It comes with katsu, rice, and plain cole slaw(chopped cabbage). Decent size katsu, not terribly big or thick but appropriate for the money. First bite, and I’m underwhelmed. First of all the curry sauce is very salty. And it’s good, but not great. This is no Curry Zen of Vegas, that’s for sure. The hype, I’m afraid, maybe has to do with the quirky space and relatively cheap eats. I suppose Home Run plate might change my mind, as it does appear to be a bargain at that price($ 10 or so), but not sure that I will come out this way on purpose to try it. May be next time I happen to be in the area… Table-for-1 Factor: As previously mentioned this is a tiny place, but if you can find a seat then it’s perfectly appropriate to eat on your own.

I assumed all Go Go Curry spots are the same but this one was slightly different in a bad way. I’ve been to the one on West 38th, had their grand slam and it was bangin. A few days later, I came to this one on Thompson and had their grand slam and noticed two things. 1. The portion seemed a bit smaller. 2. The katsu wasn’t as crispy and crunchy. Some cuts of the katsu tasted rather rubbery and elastic. It didn’t go down well. The curry over rice and shrimp tempura were fine but that katsu was disappointing.

I went here today, and I don’t think I’ve ever had better service. First off, the water was not running and the fridge was broken. But the guy working behind the counter wouldn’t let that slow his hustle. Our worker made sure to run around, and ensures that it wouldn’t slow things down. While trying to fix the sink and run to the back fridge, he made sure to watch over my pork katsu curry, which was delicious. Definitely tasted better after having to know what he went through. Could definitely taste the hustle that went into it.

Small and simple atmosphere. The service was fast and the food was served hot. I tried the chicken katsu curry in medium size. The chicken wasn’t drenched in oil or heavily coated with batter, which is great. It was filling and the flavor was good. However, the curry sauce lacked the spiciness. The whole dish is complied by the bottom layer having rice spread across the silver plate, a layer of their curry sauce on the rice, some shredded cabbage/lettuce on one end of the silver plate and next to that is the chicken katsu with a little curry drizzled over it.
