I have been going to Graff Diamonds in NYC for the last 10 years. They indeed have the best diamonds in the world. I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience each and every time. Every piece was custom designed for me with the utmost patience and detail. If you want the very best, this is the place to go.

I was devouted to Tiffany & Co, VCA and Cartier, but when my jewelry had to be replaced by insurance, I worked with Graff(I live a few blocks away on the UES). Lorraine Horan is the best. Simple. I am ill, and Graff insured the most smooth of transactions for my new 2.1EC diamond ring. This is my new store, for life…

This place is so expensive I couldn’t even bear to walk in. They would have smelled the stench of «I’m way out of my league» if I had dared to enter the lion’s den. However, the windows contained some jaw-dropping diamonds. In fact, I’m still trying to pick my jaw up off the floor a month later.

Magnificent jewlery, but the staff could be a little better. Went in today with my sister she’s been shopping rather extensively for the perfect asscher she wants a stone that’s 10 mm by 10 mm so in we went. The woman sitting at one of the desks saw us and then gave us an incredibly appraising glance(I’m not certain we even met with her approval) then she asked us to sit down and what were we interested in etc. My sister explained her parameters and the woman said«do you know how many carats that is?» my sister said yes and I interjected«don’t YOU know how many carats that is?» she said«Yes, but I’m just checking you know?» what is this? will there be a test later? Then she said do you realize that’s going to be very expensive(no we’re at Graff and we thought we might get a bargain basement number) I had just about had enough and ran my hand through my hair, she then noticed I wear an unusual and extremely expensive watch she commented on the watch and the tennis bracelet I wear with it and her whole demeanor changed, she actually said«well you obviously enjoy the finer things» Yes most of them but snootiness isn’t among them, but after that she was incredibly helpful and solcitious, if she hadn’t been such a pill earlier in the encounter my sister probably would’ve bought the ring but instead Harry Winston is getting the sale :)

Simply the best all around diamond buying experience. An old school environment not commercial like the other Majors Diamond retailers in Manhattan have become.

The folks over at Graff’s Chicago boutique recommended we visit the NYC store. Having absolutely fantastic experience with the staff in Chicago, I was looking forward to our visit… unfortunately, we were very disappointed. First of all, this location is very small — about a third of the size of the Chicago boutique. Secondly, while the diamonds and other precious stones were absolutely breathtaking, the service at this boutique was absolutely atrocious. I could not believe my experience, especially as their Chicago staff was so incredibly kind to us. I have zero tolerance for pretentious snots. We will not be returning to this store, and we highly recommend Unilocalers to shop elsewhere for their jewels. Horrendous!!! Two stars for the gorgeous baubles.

Graff calls itself the home of the«most fabulous jewels in the world» and I gotta say if they’re not they’re pretty damned close. They’ve been doing jewelry for something like 200 years, and practice is definitely making perfect. The salespeople are the very definition of muted elegance; the store is small but well-laid out(though they’re moving across Madison in the Fall, I believe); the jewels are phenomenal and the prices match. Emma Thompson, Camilla Rutherford, Victoria Beckham, and Jane Seymour(the actress, not Henry VIII’s wife) are among their clientele. Actually, so is Paris Hilton but I bet they’d rather not make a big deal out of that one… All in all, a Very Nice Place to buy jewelry, have it repaired, or just look at big colorful rocks.
