Grand Central Terminal

Go down to the whispering wall in the basement with a friend and listen to them talk. Or bring your S.O. and propose. As well, in the main terminal area, look up to see the constellations and know that they are actually… backwards. And on the top corner, over the restaurant, there is a small spot of black by cancers’ leg that shows what was left before the restoration and cleaning in the 1990s. Oh. And make sure you check out the Campbell apartments!
There is so much history behind this building. From the sculptures out front, to the clock made out of pure opal, to the locally owned restaurants in the downstairs of Grand Central, there is honestly so much for you to do and learn. 100% recommend taking a Free tours by foot tour of Grand Central to get to know the history around it

Grand Central Station is located on the corner of 42^nd Street and Park Ave and has 67 tracks for trains. Everything about the Grand Central is on a grand scale. The station occupies 48 acres. The Main Concourse, designed after a Roman bath, is 275 ft. long by 120 ft. wide and 12 stories high. A map of the constellations decorates the ceiling overhead, as if one was looking through the roof into the heavens. The circular Information Booth is a famous meeting place. Outside, the Beaux-​Arts exterior is capped by the sculpture Transportation with Mercury, signifying speed, standing atop the terminal’s clock. At its peak in the 1940s, 65 million passengers used the station annually. The main concourse is always fun to look at and people watch. There are a lot of places to take pictures of, but if you get too close to the train platforms, the workers will ask you to step back.
Over at one end of the concourse is a restaurant, called the Oyster Bar. I have never been there… but it looks trendy and expensive… but good! Also, down one of the corner tunnels is the New York Transit Museum. Here you will find history about the subway system along with a gift shop with some fun subway memorabilia of lip gloss and socks with the subway map on it, shirts, ties and mugs with train stops on it… games, and towels and key chains, etc.
Even if you are not taking a train, a stop at Grand Central affords a look at one of the great structures dedicated to travel.

I come here very often lately when visiting my clients or going to the Apple store, having lunch, or sitting and people watching. Oh yeah, get your shoes shined as well!
I don’t come here for the trains, but I do for the Subways that stop here. It does get a bit crowded. but which subway station doesn’t. not many…

Oh the splendour, the majesty, the grace.
Transports one back to a different time when travel was a far more sophisticated business.
Undoubtedly if you use this station everyday you’ll have issues with its foibles… as an occasional user though, I can only wonder at its huge ticket hall and shake my head at the disaster Penn Station is and wonder what were they thinking…

I’m with Nadia on this one; if our mass transit system is the vascular system of the city, Grand Central is its heart. It has existed in various incarnations since 1871, though GCT proper is only a sprightly 113 years old at time of writing. How many hundreds of millions of people have crossed through this place? In transit, to sightsee, to meet, while Grand Central has its own rich history, it is a part of the history of millions. Featured in countless books, shows, films, Grand Central is part of what makes Manhattan what it is.
First, the iconic main concourse. The clock, the ceiling (with it’s odd brick out and backwards sky), the ever-​swarming crowds. No self-​respecting tourist could call their trip complete without these pictures. The Apple store on the next floor is a sprawling, explicit display of market dominance. Across, Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse continues to underwhelm, but damn if it’s not an instutiton.
One must also address the marketplace — not just the well-​known Grand Central Market, but the many shops as a whole. From watches to perfumes to luggage, the traveler will never be left wanting. It’s an absolute maze, but with map in hand you can land in New York with nothing but money and make GCT your one-​stop shop. Money being the keyword of course, especially in Grand Centeal Market. Oh yes, the selection is stunning, the quality first-​rate. Naturally the prices rise to match, but that’s the cost of convenience.
Then, the dining concourse. As far as eating in transit goes, you could do far worse. Again, pricing, but it does offer some tip-​top selection. Special shout-​out to the Shake Shack’s breakfast sandwich, good luck finding it anywhere else.
Grand Central is so big because it’s full of secrets. The window walkways, the speakeasy, there’s always something new to see. Here’s to many more centuries of history, and another 1,000 reviews.

I can’t believe I’ve never reviewed this terminal before. Granted, I’m not from here, and only venture in when I need to hop a subway during the non-​rush hour times, but still. I tend to book my hotels based on ease of access to Grand Central, because that’s my brand of crazy.
The history! The architecture! The elegance! The ambiance! The people! The sounds! The smells! The shops!
I can get (and have gotten) lost in here, if left to my own devices. And not lost as in, «Oh, no… I’m a lost toy!», but lost as in, «I came in to get to grab an downtown train, but then this shop caught my eye, and I rounded that corner and saw this bit of history, and before I knew it, five hours had passed!»
Beyond the fact that it’s a major hub, there are a ton of shops and restaurants and fantastic things to see. My first trip to the city, I made my husband do the audio tour through the terminal with me. Yes, I’m a dork, but that tour was great. Highly recommended! Not only did it teach me a lot about mass transit and the time zones, it took me places I never would’ve known were there. (Like the original benches, located in the Station Master’s office.)
I’ve only ever walked by most of the restaurants and bakeries, having stopped for a cup of coffee and a pastry here and there. I tend to spend most of my time in the grocery store, walking up and down the aisles, trying to imagine what it’s like to shop there for groceries on the regular.
I admit that my fascination with everything about Grand Central never dims. The clock, the stairs, the nods to the history of the city and the nation, plus the ties to movies I’ve seen and novels I’ve read… I think I could walk through once a day for a year and never tire of it.
(And yes, I realize I’m writing this review with my tourist goggles on. But hey, I AM a tourist, so what do you expect?)

Grand Central is a beauty. This place has so much stories and history to share. It is still a mystery itself for there are so many secrets than more than it meets the eye. When you walk through Grand Central Terminal, you can see family, friends, and lovers unite. The clock is probably the most iconic meet up spot, everyone knows where the clock is!
I pass by Grand Central daily like millions of other people. Admittedly, I was very put off by the crowds and people walking from all directions but now, I love it! This is what adds character to the terminal. It is always busy there even at 6:00 am in the morning! But when people just take take a moment to look at the architecture and just feel the surroundings. There are baked goods and shops around here too!
MTA New York City Transit subways and Metro-​North Railroad brings people here. In less than a decade or so, Long Island Rail Road will be coming into the terminal as well! The crowd will never end now!

There’s nothing like GCT. You can easily spot the differences between the daily commuters, the seasoned travelers, and the newbies by how easily the first two groups navigate around the wide-​eyed tourists staring at the ceiling.
Come here for lunch, come here to travel, or just come here to be here — GCT has something for everyone… and, if it doesn’t, it can get you to wherever you need to be.

I love GC– and it makes commutes into the city super easy. It’s always clean and the employees there are very helpful. One time they didn’t have the correct train information up, which was sort of confusing– but with the help from an employee I was set on the right track. I’ll be back!

This is Grand Central Terminal’s 1,001^st review, brought to you by its current Unilocal check-​in Duchess. I mean, isn’t this landmark just a beauty?
GCT is constantly changing and improving for the better. I am so fortunate to be able to pass through GCT frequently and appreciate its architectural beauty.
This terminal has clear signage for your commuting and foodie quests. Personally the easiest way for me to navigate the terminal is to find the clock in the middle, the Apple Store side leads you to the 4÷5÷6÷7 train stations, and the opposite side leads you to the S train station/​Starbucks/​Agern shops/​The Campbell Apartment.
Supposedly, all of the train schedules posted on the digital board are wrong. They are all exactly one minute behind schedule. For example, if a train is scheduled to depart at 5:10pm, it really is supposed to leave at 5:10:00, not at 5:09:59. However, this unsaid rule is highly depended on your conductor. Most conductors will leave at 5:10:01 to give you the extra time you needed, but sometimes they will leave at 5:09:59 and you will just have to wait for the next train.
If you have been here during the daytime, you have not seen everything. I highly recommend you coming here at either 6:30am or at 10:30pm, when it is practically empty. You will truly admire GCT in a completely different way.

Oh hey, I’ve never reviewed Grand Central Terminal before. But really, why would I have?
It’s funny because I was talking to another native Brooklynite, and he said he always found it weird that people from Brooklyn don’t go to GCT until they’re adults. And it’s true. Where the hell would you need to go that’s better than NYC? I’m pretty sure I I didn’t step foot into GCT until I was in my late teens.
Despite how pretty it is, and how hectic it is during rush hour or holidays, GCT sure beats the shithole that is Penn Station. A lot fewer homeless people too.
And they have food that’s not terrible. Like a Shake Shack. And the oyster bar on the concourse level.
And they have an Apple store.
Yes, now that I’m an adult, I sometimes need to head into Connecticut (I wish I didn’t have to), so I’m at GCT a fair amount. Trains almost always leave on time. And buying a Metro North ticket is easy peasy at the wall mounted machines in the hallway.
But really, why would anyone leave NYC?

This is quite the historic building. It reminds me of the movies that take place in the 1940’s with lots of history. The ceilings here are insanely high, amazing architecture as well. What’s great is that there is so much hustle and bustle for the normal commuters, but at the same time, there are plenty of tourists standing, taking pictures and appreciating the beauty of it.
I think you need to just go here to see how well buildings were built and designed back then compared to the corporate boxes of today.

It’s not just a train station but this place is filled with shopping and good eats as well. I love their food court, there is something in here for everyone. If you don’t want to eat at the food court, they have a bunch of restaurants as well. Check their website for different events at the Grand Central Terminal.

This building is absolutely stunning. Everywhere you look you see history and beauty. It was really fun to be on the stairs and look out at the big open space and just take it all in.
Oddly enough they have an Apple Store which almost seemed out of place but worked out well for us since we needed to charge our phones.
There were also tons of restaurants which we weren’t expecting so it was nice to be able to have lunch at grand central station. So we looked at the map and found the restaurants on the lower level.
We couldn’t find the whispering halls and were given directions that didn’t get us there but that’s ok there is always next time and when you visit New York there has to be a next time since it’s truly impossible to visit everything there.

I’d say I’m a fan because this is a spot to cross off your bucket list at least saying you walked through Grand Central. Old historic feel with high ceilings and stair cases. It does look like the commercials and movies and Tv shows hat have shot scenes here.
Good oyster seafood restaurant inside here too.

La 2da vez que fui coincidí con el día internacional del Nutella y estaban regalando pancakes con frutitas y, claramente, el dulce de los Dioses.
Siempre lleno de gente y eso nunca es un problema, es una estación PRECIOSA donde el tiempo parece pasar más rápido y a la vez inexistente. Una mesada de información con un reloj divino inunda el centro del lugar, bajo un techo increíble.
Tiene varios pasadizos así que medio que flashee Hogwarts cuando quise ir a pedir información y me perdí jajaja.
Esta muy muy cerquita del ESB así que tiene que estar también en tu visita obligada.

I am so glad they haven’t demolished the place.
The main hall is absolutely stunning in all its marbled glory is something to be admired, the hall is big and even during the pre weekend rush is still not stuffy like the current Penn Station. The platform are easily accessible for all with no problems.
On top of this the old style ticket booths and and the restaurants opening into the main hall as well as other stores make it a wonderful tourist stop not to mention a train station. I would make more Ticket Vending machines available but i am not particularly set on that.
So visit this place… No matter what the reason.

While Grand Central Terminal is serviced by many major modes of transit, my primary experience with Grand Central Terminal has been using the Metro-​North. I never really had a whole lot of time to walk around the station, but its beautiful gothic architecture, high ceilings, and the sheer amount of clueless people gawking at the monstrosity of the building makes this a place to check out (and even I suppose people watch if you have time!). There are so many shops, little convenience type stores, and restaurants. If you’re planning to buy a beer for the ride back up on Metro-​North, just be prepared that the mark-​up is as to be expected. While I find the trains to be on time, if you find yourself wanting to hang around and delay your trip for a bit, there’s plenty to see/​do/​check out.

It was so amazing to see this landmark! Truly a work of art. There’s a food court in the middle with a Shake Shack. If you’re from atl, it’s like Five Points Marta on crack, and nicer.

Tiene un subsuelo con un patio de comidas. En el piso principal tiene locales de diseño/​ropa/​perfumerías. En el mismo piso tiene como una «feria» de comidas que es lo mas, con especias, alimentos de todo tipo, opciones orgánicas, etc, todo lo que se te ocurra esta acá.
Tiene un «local» de Apple, que en realidad es como un stand con todo expuesto, en el que podes comprar todos los productos que venden.
En el medio tiene un stand de información, del país (? y de la propia estación.
Por supuesto todos los subtes paran acá, así que es frecuente ver tanto oficinistas, como turistas y gente recién llegada cargando valijas.
Es una visita obligada si estas en NY, aun si no necesitas ir para tomarte un subte.

— There is a huge chandelier hanging above the Grand Central Market. We are talking about 5000 crystal pendants and 3000 pounds here. That’s an average car dangling over your head.
— There used to be a movie theater and art galleries inside Grand Central. Thanks, economic recession.

Grand Central Terminal is one of the most beautiful train stations in the world. That’s undisputed. The lower level features many dining options, including Shake Shack, Junior’s, and Magnolia Bakery. The LIRR is currently building a new line to the terminal. It is scheduled to be completed in 2022 (given the MTA’s track record, it might be longer).
Over the past few years, Grand Central has become a de facto homeless shelter. Many homeless people sit at the tables in the lower level dining area. They also wash their clothes and sometimes shower in the bathroom. I don’t blame them for wanting to go to a warm area to escape the elements. I’m not one of those high society elitists like Donald Trump and Michael Bloomberg. Some homeless people are crazy junkies. Others are simply people who lost their jobs or couldn’t afford rent. Mayor de Blasio says that the homeless should go to shelters, but there have been rapes and robberies in shelters.
I empathize with the struggles of homeless people (I owe over $ 100,000 in student loans), but I don’t want to see a half naked dude showering in the bathroom and I don’t want to smell piss when I’m eating a hot dog. I want to give Grand Central a higher rating, but it’s not the majestic station that it used to be.

Always love coming here. Took a few pics and kept moving so as not to be in the way. The info booth people are helpful and that’s great when you only come through here every few years.

For reason’s I can’t fathom, I kept getting lost trying to find the subway entrance here. The 4, 5, 6, 7 & «S» shuttle train to times square all stop here.
Staying near here is convenient. Even if you can’t get directly where you’re going from one of these trains, you can usually transfer from one of these lines to just about anywhere in the city.

This is my favorite train station depot/​terminal thus far and I have been to many. Especially now that I know the history behind Grand Central Terminal, I love it even more. It’s definitely grandiose from the outside and in with tunnels leading to 100+ tracks all around the inside. There food court eatery is even grand here. You’ll even find the Grand Central Oyster Bar, which is pretty rad, I must add. Couples even get their wedding photos taken here; it’s just that beautiful on the inside. It’s just a great way to people watch and trust me, you will get to see all walks of life trickle through here. There are food options for different cravings even some of the best ice cream you will ever have — Jacques Torres Ice Cream — oooooooh la la! Some may look at it as craziness, but I look at it as organized mass chaos. People were moving in many different directions, some running and most walking through to take it all in. If you are ever in NYC, come here to see one of the most popular train terminals in the world!

I frequently ride metro north. Am in Grand Central Terminal often. Though I am a native born and bred NYC gal I always take the time to stop and look up at that amazing constellation ceiling. The architecture inside and outside is classic and beautiful. And the passage with the archway where you whisper into the corner and the person diagonally across hears you perfectly is way cool ;-) (aka «the whispering gallery»). There’s lots of good shopping, some high end stores, and good eats to check out as well.

Schon bei meinem ersten Besuch im Mai 2013 war ich von diesem «Bahnhof» mehr als nur angetan und verzaubert.
Nun führte mich mein zweiter Besuch im Dezember 2015 erneut hierher, um mir das Gewusel der zig-​tausenden Menschen an diesem Ort erneut anzuschauen. Auch die Architektur des Gebäudes hat mich wieder in ihren Bann gezogen.
Wenn es nach mir gegangen wäre, ich wäre hier für einige Stunden verharrt und hätte einfach nur genossen.
Doch wir hatten ja einen strengen Zeitplan, um noch so einige Hotspots in NYC anzuschauen. Schnee wars trotzdem! :)

During rush hour 430pm to 7pm it is not the ideal place to be as it is a madhouse but you gotta do what you gotta do. Seeing grand central and looking up at the ceiling is one of the wonders of Manhattan. The place is huge so many corners of this spot to explore.
There is also Vanderbilt hall that is the promotion and event capital of this place. The seasonal holiday market is held here and many promoter like Viacom and Good Humor or Old Spice maybe setting up shop here with a giveaway. There is also the taste of Grand Central, a yearly event that feature sample of the stores in the complex. There is also a huge Apple store here now and Shake shack which alot of people visit. Crowds will be here and you will get bumped into at 5pm or 845pm at night, but the place is still enjoyable. Tourists or non tourist it is worth a visit.

A whirlwind of chaos in this place, yet so peaceful. I was with a local friend who said she had not been to the part of the station where we were near the Apple Store. It is very spacious and not claustrophobic like the rest of the city. If you walk around there are a lot of hidden shops and we found the food court here too. Open seating is hard to find, but there were convenient stand up tables that were being continually cleaned by the staff. This was a really cool place to visit in NY and happened to be where we caught the subway uptown.

Grand Central is simply awesome on so many levels! The architecture is amazing… there so much to see and appreciate including all the stonework and the ceiling. There are shops all over the place and even places for special exhibits. But the most awe-​inspiring aspect of Grand Central is the symphony of organized chaos going on at any given time.
Tens of thousands of people utilize Grand Central every day to get around. It’s also important to note that it’s «Grand Central Terminal» and not «Grand Central Station» because it’s not just a stop on the route, but the beginnings and endings of routes. I’ve only caught one train to/​from here from/​to Newark Airport. It can be a little overwhelming and confusing at first, but you’ll figure it out.
You could probably spend hours in here just meandering and soaking in all that it has to offer. That’s is, if you don’t have a train to catch.
The New York Transit Museum also has an annex store here with some interesting items. They also currently have a nice Lionel electric train exhibit for the holidays that will be there until mid-​February. Who didn’t want a model train display like this when they were a kid???

We stopped in here while touring Manhattan after we left the library. It is a beautifully done train station reminiscent of the train stations in Europe. I was expecting something grander though. Still it’s definitely worth a quick drop in.

One of the places of New York City I know since I was a child, thanks for many great movies. Of course, when I was coming to NYC for visiting, this no doubt was on my check list. The name of Grand Central Terminal just fit to it right to the point, my first impression was just that. how grand and beautiful this place is, but there were a lot people just come and go, it did remind me that i was at the train station instead of a museum. This place also is one of the most busiest stations in NYC. so this place never lack of people, specially at the day time. that is also the reason there are always police officers around, to keep thing in order.
I like those big lights hanging at the side, they just looked great and reminded me alot different movies. I also looked around this place, it was quite fun for me, to see it in person. in the middle of the station has an ticket kiosk, they keep it really well, it just like history alive. Beside something from the pass, there are something modern as well, such as Apple store and some others as well. The station surrounded by all the huge building and located right at busiest area. It didn’t get old through time, contrarily, it became much more worldwide famous and alive.

Grand Central Terminal is great for two reasons– one practical and one not so practical. Practically, it’s still a major transit terminal with trains departing every minute to somewhere outside of Manhattan. With that, brings an array of coffee shops, bakeries, and restaurants. Thousands of people come and go every day so make sure you know where you are going if you step inside. If you’re not there to get on a train, I still recommend stepping inside because of it’s sheer beauty. There’s a reason many movies set in the Big Apple film here. The ceilings are so high and the architecture majestic. You’ll feel you’re in Europe! I wouldn’t come to NYC just to see it, but if you’re in the area any way, definitely pop in!

I mean what is there to say, this is one of the most historic and beautiful buildings in New York City. There are shops and food… All completely overpriced as are most things in Manhattan.
Pigions fly the ceilings homeless people camp out in the food court, Military personal walk around with assult riffles all while thousands of people scurry from track to track like mice.
Everything New York has to offer in one space.

Definitely a Historical Landmark to come by to see when in NYC! We actually took a train out of here when going to CT for the day. Pretty easy to get a ticket and find your track, just go up to the window to purchase your ticket, they will direct you to the correct track and then go there and get on your train.
The station is very nice looking, classic NY, very clean and you can spend a good amount of time taking photos, walking around, looking at the shops or even enjoying their food court and market area.
It’s pretty easy to get to via subway, centrally located and all the cabbies know how to get there. We didn’t see any movies being filmed there, no proposals nor any flash mobs.
Overall, its a wonderful train station, beautiful and iconic… can’t wait to come back!

I used to work a block away and travel thru here every day… I can’t believe how much I took the Beauty here for granted. Everyone– tourists and New Yorkers — should stop and take note of its architecture, beauty and grandeur.
Last night and several times I would stand in the center by the clock and take in the beauty. I recommend others do the same.
Police presence with the holidays is strong, with officers all over the station — so I felt safe even at midnight.

Es ist eine der größten Bahnhof der Welt. Auf jeden Fall größten unterirdischen Bahnhof. Da in Manhattan immer mehr Hochhäuser gebaut wurden, gab es langsam kein Platz mehr für die Züge. Und so wurde der Bahnhof vor dem Krieg tiefer gelegt. Es hat sehr viele Gleise.
Dort kann man auch kurz einkaufen, wenn man Klamotten braucht. Und Apple Store ist dort ebenfalls zu finden
Viele Subway Linien halten auch dort, Local sowieso auch Express.

I’ve always been a Penn station guy (with over 1000 Unilocal check ins) its a pain in the neck to get to GC from the LIRR. I’d rather go into Penn and hook to midtown on the E train. Come on LIRR already with the new train line!
When I do come here, do I find it magical? Hmmm… My review is how New York City and Grand Central station are both intertwined. Did you know they have Mad Men tours as one of the stops inside Grand Central? It’s just beautiful inside and for years photographers have taken iconic pictures that are synonymous with the greatest city in the world.
Here’s a hidden secret (actually there are a few) when you go into the main concourse where the clock is? Look up at the ceiling. How beautiful is that? Most people want to come inside and take a selfie with the clock (which is made from a rare stone that’s worth a few million)
No one looks up and sees the beautiful «X». (I’m not going to spoil it, next time look up)
There are 700,000 people crossing through these halls on a daily basis. That’s a lotta foot traffic! I always thought as a kid all those people should all give me a dollar. I don’t know why I thought that at 10 years old. I had my mind on money and money on my my mind!
The east end project is going to be great, it will be easer for me to get to midtown. Penn Station doesn’t have carolers or the Oyster bar. That’s because its a small STATION. Grand Central is a Terminal that is spread over acres and acres of prime NYC real estate. There are sexy corridors with food courts, bars and clothing stores.
This is our New York City icon. It’s been here for over 100 years and hopefully when the east side project is finished will make commuting easier for us all

Grand Central terminal. I have been coming here since I was a little kid. Not much has changed at the station since I was little. The only thing that’s really changed is the amount of police presence that’s inside which is a good thing. Grand Central is always crowded even at 12 o’clock at night there are still a lot of people walking around taking photos. As much as I have used grand central. The tourists are annoying. No One is paying attention to where they’re going. People are always looking through some sort of a Camera. it’s very common for somebody to run right into you. During rush hour it is chaotic. The building itself is absolutely beautiful unfortunately there’s so much going on that I just walked directly to my train when I go here and don’t take in any of the beautiful architecture.
The architecture of Grand Central is absolutely beautiful. One of my favorite sites is at night time coming up Park Avenue and seen Grand Central all lit up in the big MetLife building in the background.
For anybody that doesn’t know Grand Central terminal is a train station mostly for commuters that want to come into Manhattan from Connecticut and New York and the LIR stops at GC. Living in the suburbs north of Manhattan this train station is vital for me to get to and from the city. I could take the path train from my house to Newark and then from newark into Penn station. But the hudson line runs directly to Grand Central.
Once you get off your train and you are inside to Grand Central there are four different exits that you can use. I suggest that you do your homework for which exit to use if it’s your first time being at this train station. You can always ask The nice staff member with a long dreadlocks in the middle of the station by the round train boards for help.
I do not recommend going to any of the food places inside Grand Central except for the Starbucks. The prices inside of Grand Central are extremely high. There is a bakery inside of the terminal call the magnolia bakery. They do have very good food in there but you will pay for it. Also there is a food court underneath in the basement.
Overall Grand Central Station is my go to train station for getting in and out of Manhattan. The Hudson line has stood the test of time and so has the terminal.

On a voulu se la jouer Serena dans Gossip Girl et visiter cette gare. Comment né pas avoir le soufflé coupé en entrant dans le hall principal, c’est immense, c’est beau, c’est lumineux, c”est magnifique! Il y a tellement de monde, on s’est beaucoup amusée à faire des timelapse des passants. Au sous-​sol il y a pleins de restos, nous avons donc testé notre premier Shake Shack là bas ! Et en plus, grâce à Apple, il y a la Wifi sur la mezzanine !

Piouffffff que dire c’est magnifiqueeeeeeee aucune gare française n’y arrive à la cheville ! C’est beau, propre, il y a même un apple store à l’intérieure de la gare. Cette gare né fait pas partie des incontournable de NY mais je vous la conseille, c’est dépaysant.

Wunderschön! Dieser Moment… Wenn man die Halle betritt — pure Gänsehaut! Geht abends hin, ab 21 Uhr oder später! Die Station ist nicht mehr so voll, und es oh ruhiger als sonst. Das Ambiente, die Lichter… Einfach alles ist atemberaubend !

Fascinante arquitectura, muy lindo lugar consigues de todo el piso de abajo donde esta la comida encuentras de todo tipo de café, frutas, postres, carne, pollo, ensaladas, etc etc las 4 estrellas es porque los baños estaban muy sucios, por lo demás fascinante.

Hermoso lugar. Fácil de perder la mirada con un espacio tan grande. El reloj iconico es must para sacar fotografías. Lindisimo para caminar en uno de los más sitios y deslumbrantes lugares de NYC.

Auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert. Wir haben eine der kostenlosen Touren gemacht und der Guide war echt genial. Abgedreht und übertrieben in der Sprache, wie die Amerikaner halt sind. Aber das hat aus einem normalen Gebäude eine Geschichte gemacht. («Buildings tell us stories»)

Le Grand Central Terminal … Lieu mythique que l’on retrouve dans pas mal de films et de séries. Je n’avais donc aucune envie de le louper lors de mon passage à New York. Cette gare est juste magnifique ! Très bien entretenue malgré l’énorme passage qu’il y a chaque jour. Outré l’aspect architectural et esthétique du lieu, je crois que ma plus grande surprise est attribuée au Apple qui s’y trouve. Les tables où se trouvent tablettes, téléphones, ordinateurs … se trouve carrément à l’extérieur (du magasin en fait mais à l’intérieur du Grand Central Terminal). J’ai trouvé ca juste fou !
Vous y trouvez donc des boutiques et des lieux pour vous restaurer.
Si vous êtes de passage à New York, né loupez surtout pas le Grand Central Terminal, ca vaut le coup !

Uno de los lugares que no deben dejarse por conocer en la gran manzana. El estilo arquitectónico es único. El diseño del techo es hermoso, al estilo de la capilla sixtina. Su ubicación, cerca de todos los grandes monumentos de new York, hace que sea un paso obligado para el turista, ya sea que recorra a pie o en tren la ciudad.

Wow so einen tollen Bahnhof habe ich glaube noch nie gesehen! Da können wir in München wirklich neidisch sein !
Eine wunderbare Architektur mit tollen Kronleuchten, schöner Malerei an der Decke welche den Himmel mit Sternen und Sternzeichen zeigt!
Essen und Shoppen fehlt hier auch nicht, alles vorhanden!

Realmente desconozco la historia de este emblemático lugar. Creo que muchas personas al igual que yo ya conocen este lugar al menos por las tantas películas que toman lugar en su interior. En una de mis vacaciones por NYC no podía dejar de visitar tan particular lugar. Esta estación es realmente gigantesca. Puedes encontrar un sinfín de tiendas de todo tipo en su interior, algunos restaurantes y miles de turistas admirando su arquitectura.
Todo lo que puedes ver en este es realmente hermoso, me refiero a los acabados que tiene en sus paredes y techo. En el techo tiene unas figuras con diferentes animales y con unos pequeños brillos que lo hacen ver sofisticado. Creo que eso lo pueden apreciar en la película de una noche en el museo. Una de las cosas que más me gusto es un hermoso reloj gigante que se encuentra en medio de la sala.
Es un lugar que debes de conocer en tu visita a New York.

Vom Architektenteam Warren & Wetmore wurde der Grand Central zwischen 1903 und 1913 gebaut. Man kann es heute kaum glauben, dass dieses prachtvolle Gebäude aufgrund des Engagements berühmter New Yorker Persönlichkeiten wie Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis nicht abgerissen wurde. Zwischenzeitlich wollte man auf dem Gelände mehrere Hochhäuser bauen.
Das in der Vanderbilt Ave befindliche Gebäude der Superlative wurde in den 90er Jahren für 200 Millionen Dollar komplett renoviert. Heute findet man hier viele exklusive Geschäfte und ausgezeichnete Restaurants.
Das Gebäude wirkt wie eine Kathedrale und verfügt über eine riesige Bahnhofshalle und ist 142 m lang, 50 m breit und 46 m hoch. An der gewölbten blauen Decke befindet sich ein gemalter Himmel mit über 2.500 funkelnden Sternen, der der astronomischen Realität entspricht und in Tierkreis-​Konstellationen angeordnet ist.
Sehr sehenswert ist der hier untergebrachte Apple Store, der sich den Gegebenheiten des Gebäudes anpassen musste. Aber auch die berühmte Grand Central Oyster Bar, mit einer unglaublichen Auswahl von verschiedenen Austern, ist einen Besuch wert.
Im Grand Central Terminal geht es zur Rush Hour recht hektisch, denn mehr als 500.000 Menschen täglich frequentieren das Gebäude. Von der Gelassenheit der Amerikaner kann man hier nicht mehr wirklich sprechen.
Auch von außen wirkt der Grand Central Terminal sehr beeindruckend. Von hier aus ist man auch relativ schnell beim Gebäude der Vereinten Nationen und dem Chrysler Building.
Sicherlich auch einer der Top Sehenswürdigkeiten in New York City.

J’adore la gare de Grand Central ! Je trouve que c’est une gare magnifique. Que ce soit de l’intérieur ou de l’extérieur, on né s’en lasse pas. L’intérieur, les murs dorés, le ciel étoilé, cet immense drapeau américain… Aaaah :)
J’y passé à chaque fois que je vais a New York !
Le bon plan wifi si à un moment vous avez besoin du net, c’est le grand magasin Apple dans la gare !
Un endroit ou se rendre absolument pour voir tout ce flux de personnes allant travailler, partant en voyage, en we, … Un lieu de vie tout simplement :).

Ce qui est fou, c’est qu’a chaque fois que je vais à NY, je re-​fais ma touriste de base en passant par là: et à chaque fois je me félicite de le faire !
La gare en elle meme est très belle, avec son plafond de ciel étoilé … de jour de nuit, tout le temps: c’est magnifique. Au sous sol? Un trésor insoupçonné: des dizaines de food shops avec des gateaux, falafels, tacos … De quoi vous faire saliver quelle que soit l’heure ! Il ya aussi un passage qui mèné à un marché de produits frais où vous trouverez un stand de téhs hallucinant (parfums pinacolada, mojito …)
Le trésor caché de la gare, une salle, bien cachée à l’acoustique dingue ! Vous vous mettez dans un coin, et la personen dans le coin opposé vous entend comme si vous etiez à coté ! On a du rester ½ h à jouer avec ça ! :)

Es gibt schon so viele Beiträge über diesen Platz — was lässt sich da noch Sinnvolles hinzufügen? Zunächst die Erkenntnis, dass es sich tatsächlich um einen Bahnhof handelt. Das geht beim ersten Eindruck nämlich nahezu unter.
Architektonisch großartig ist die Halle und ich kenne keinen deutschen Bahnhof, der auch nur annähernd so gepflegt und sauber ist. Ein künstlicher Himmel spannt sich über die Halle, an beiden Enden Balconies. Auf dem einen der wohl einzigartigste Apple-​Shop, am anderen zwei Restaurants mit einem ausgefallenem Gastronomie-​Feeling. Da fallen einem die Anzeigetafeln mit den Abfahrtszeiten der Züge kaum noch auf.
Von der Haupthalle gehen diverse Passagen mit Shops ab.
Neben den vielen anderen Attraktionen, die NY bietet, ist die Central Station auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert. Auch wenn man nicht mit der Bahn fahren will.

En funcionalidad no se como sea, es decir, lo califico como atracción turística y definitivo vale la pena.
No sólo porque sale en millones de películas si no la historia de este lugar es muy interesante, recomiendo pedir el audio guía y recorrer la central mientras escuchas su historia.
El reloj es simplemente hermoso y vale la pena tomarse unas fotos ahí, los ventanales que tiene son espectaculares.

Magnifique, grandiose, saisissante. Le hall de cette gare est démesurément grand comme l’est le drapeau des États-​Unis tendu entre deux piliers. Essentiellement coloré d’or et de vert pour le plafond, la plupart des regards sont tournés vers l’architecture de celle ci plutôt que vers les horaires des trains ! J’exagère à peine… La belle horloge d’époque située au milieu se fait relativement discrète par sa taille mais mérite que l’on s’y penche.
De l’extérieur, la gare mérite également son coup d’oeil lorsqu’on arrive par l’entrée principale. Entièrement rénovée récemment, un passage à Grand Central Station est donc un incontournable pour les touristes à New York.

Wer hat nicht schon mindestens einen Film gesehen in dem die Grand Central Station im Gespräch oder im Bild war.
Ein wundervoller Bahnhof mit ganz besonderer Architektur — die große Halle, die Oyster Bar, die glitzernden Lüster, die eindrucksvollen Statuen bei der Uhr auf dem Dach.
Auf jeden Fall einen Blick wert!

Sans cesse repousser à cause de la fatigue occasionné à longueur de journée ou d’endroits considérés comme prioritaires à découvrir, finalement j’aurai vu que l’extérieur de la gare.
Passé juste devant, le bâtiment en impose et je trouve l’édifice vraiment très beau. Aussi il va sans dire que ce sera probablement l’une de mes premiers visites lorsque je reviendrai à New York pour enfin le contempler dans son ensemble.

Eine riesen Halle bekannt aus sehr vielen Filmen. Dort treffen alle Züge zusammen, mitten in Manhatten. Wenn man dort ist, kommt man nicht umhin sich den Bahnhof mal anzuschauen.

Je connaissais cette gare via des films américains. J’ai découvert la grande salle avec un monde fou, des gens qui se croisent en permanence. Enfin cinq minutes marrantes.

Dieser «Bahnhof «ist einfach nur der helle Wahnsinn. Allein schon die größe ist beeindruckend, man muß aufpassen das man sich verirrt in den vielen Bahnsteigen, Gängen etc. Auch die Architektur dieser Grand Central Station ist einmalig. Man sollte sich für diesen Besuch viel Zeit lassen, denn es gibt hier sehr viel tolle Fotomotive, innen genauso wie aussen. Mir ist aufgefallen das es hier sehr sauber wahr !! Es hat sehr großen Spaßgemacht durch diese riesegie Anlage zu schlendern.

Une des plus grande gare ua monde il parait! Des milliers de personnes passent par ce point névralgique de NYC tous les jours. Impressionnant. au rez de chaussée, vous pourrez admirer les peintures «zodiaques» au plafond et profiter du free wifi de l’Apple Store!
Au sous-​sol, place à un grand nombre de junk food: soupes, bagels, sandwichs et autres plats chinois. Vraiment, si vous êtes un petit groupe et que personne n’est d’accord sur le restaurant, éparpillez vous dans les petites échoppes et rassemblez vous sur l’esplanade centrale où les tables sont mises à disposition! Ça n’en sera que plus sympa.

Das MUSS bei jedem N.Y. Besuch, über dessen Architektur hier schon fast alles geschrieben wurde. Doch bei aller Schönheit und Monumentalität des eigentlichen Gebäudes, lohnt auch ein Blick an die Decke!
Die wurde von Paul Helleu, einem Franzosen, gestaltet. Die dort abgebildeten 12 Sternzeichen sind einer mittelalterlichen Handschrift entnommen und SPIEGLVERKEHRT abgebildet. Angeblich, um die Sterne so darzustellen, wie Gott sie sieht.
Also, wer schon immer mal wissen wollte, wie Gott die Sache sieht: einfach mal mit dem Rücken auf den Boden legen, Augen auf und staunen. Aber bitte nur kurz! Herumliegen ohne Grund ist nämlich verboten ;o)

É muito legal estar no Grand Central Terminal e lembrar que vários filmes foram filmados lá. É um belo lugar e muito movimentado, tem sempre muitas pessoas passando por lá. Vale a pena conhecer.

Das Grand Central Terminal sollte man sich bei einem Besuch in NYC mal angesehen haben. Es ist schon Weltklasse. Die Architektur ist sehr sehenswert und es ist einfach interessant den Ort zu sehen, an dem der Nahverkehr der ganzen Stadt und Region zusammenläuft. Es gibt auch zahlreiche Restaurants und Shops in den verschiedenen Etagen des Bahnhofs, außerdem findet man in einer Art Anbau an die Grand Central Station eine Markthalle, den Grand Central Market, mit frischen (regionalen) Produkten.

La gare centrale de New York, c’est surtout pour voir le hall central qui est un lieu de plusieurs films américains, mais ce n’est qu’une place, par contre un monde, tellement de monde, je me suis senti entrain de déranger, ça va et ça vient dans tous les sens.
Quant au trains, c’est uniquement des trains de banlieue pour Boston ou Washington D.C. ce n’est pas la bonne gare.

Dans combien de films voit on la gare Grand Central? Je vous mets au défi de les compter. Ce lieu historique, quoique un peu sombre, de la grande pomme possède également plusieurs boutiques en sous — sol.

Einfach der wahnsinn. Man kennt den bahnhof ja schon von vielen filmen, aber persöhnlich darin zu stehen ist wahnsinn ! Der vermutlich geilste bahnhof der welt !

Dieser Bahnhof ist der erhabenste, den ich kenne. Commodore Cornelius Vanderbilt baute das Grand Central Terminal (1913 eröffnet) und trotz diverser Erweiterungen war es immer zu klein. Heute fahren zwar nur noch Nahverkehrszüge ab, aber immerhin werden hier täglich eine halbe Million Pendler verarbeitet. Ich finde, dass dieses Terminal einfach extrem viel Stil hat. Natürlich ist es hektisch hier, schliesslich sind wir in NYC. Aber die Gemäuer mahnen zum massvollen Umgang mit Zeit, Raum und sich selbst. Dazu kommen komplette Shoppingmöglichkeiten und natürlich die weltbeste Oysterbar im Keller, die derzeit irgendwie noch renoviert wird. Wir haben das GCT zu unserem Hub in Midtown gemacht und haben immer einen stilvollen Anlaufpunkt gehabt.
Die Tierkreiszeichen an der Decke vom Franzosen Paul Helleu muss man gesehen haben und beim Anschauen nich die Showtreppen an der Seite herunterstolpern, Bahnreisen waren zur Zeit des GCT exklusiv.

Une très belle gare qui héberge un petit marché à l’ancienne fort agréable (on y trouve de très bon cheese cakes !).

Auf jeden Fall ein Muss in New York!
Ein bisschen im Bahnhof umherstreifen lohnt sich sehr. Augen auf wegen der vielen schönen Details in der Bauausführung!
Im Restaurant auf der Empore in der Haupthalle kann man auch gut essen.

Bön, le seul truc à dire sur cette gare mis à part qu’elle est magnifique, c’est qu’il faut aller vers le Oyster bar & restaurant où il y a un endroit où on peut parler d’un coin à l’autre, dos tournés en regardant le mur! c’est très marrant à faire quand on attends un train !

Grand Central ist nicht einfach nur ein Bahnhof. Jeder kennt ihn aus Filmen und dem Fernsehen. Ein absolutes Muß, wenn man NYC besucht. Es ist eine große helle Halle und hat so gar nichts mit den deutschen Bahnhöfen gemein. Dieser Bahnhof ist nicht einfach nur ein häßlicher Zweckbau.

Seit der Renovierung ist dieser Bahnhof nicht mehr nur ein Bahnhof, sondern eine Attraktion für sich in NY geworden.
Über der Haupthalle erstreckt sich ein tiefblauer Gewölbehimmel mit Sternenkonstellation, alles blinkt in polliertem Messing und die Marmorfußböden wirken edel. kein Wunder, dass in dieser Halle täglich bis zu 500.000 Menschen gezählt werden.
Nicht nur die Architektur ist ein Publikumsmagnet, sondern auch die fast 50 Läden und ca 15 Restaurants tun ihr übriges. Der Delikatessenmarkt ist unschlagbar (leider auch bei den Preisen)

A voir absolument, on né peut pas imaginer une gare aussi luxueuse,
Tellement belle et célèbre que des couples de nouveaux mariés y font des photos et le repas de noces ! l’ambiance est particulière, on se croirait dans un film
Les jolis boutiques et les restaurants contribuent à faire de ce lieu un lieu unique plein de charme.
Un magnifique monument, et une ambiance extraordinaire où se mèle touristes voyageurs, new-​yorkais…
Né pas quitter New-​york sans avoir vu la gare

Ahurissant c’est sûrement le bon mot!
A ma connaissance (et j’ai voyagé depuis mon plus jeune âge de trés nombreuses fois en de trés trés nombreux endroits) je n’avais jamais réussi à être aussi nulle et paumée qu’à Grand Central Terminal… mais bon !

Incontournable lors de votre prochaine escapade à New York…
Allez-​y tête baissée, hantez les coursives à balustrade, descendez dans les sous-​sols, courrez sur les quais et arrêtez vous dans le hall principal…

La mayor estacion de NY en plena calle 42, muy pero que muy bonita y siempre con muchisima gente.

Estación de NY, situada al lado del Chrysler. Es muy bonita y comunica NY con el norte del estado de NY. Es su interior esta el famoso reloj tipico de peliculas.

Grand Central Station est mondialement connue grâce au nombreux scénes de films qui ont été tournés dans cette édifice monumental de 1913: L’Impasse, Ice Storm, Superman, Witness, North By Northwest…
Dans la littérature également avec notamment «La Nuit du renard» de Mary Higgins Clark.
Ce bâtiment, récemment rénové, nous plonge dans l’ambiance des gares d’antan. Les voyageurs de l’état de New York y croisent les touristes venus voir la pendule à quatre faces du hall central (sous le comptoir d’information), la voûte céleste et le grand escalier de marbre (à l’est).
On y trouve de nombreux fast food et restaurant en particulier le fameux Oyster Bar & Restaurant (

Bref allez-​y pour voir ce monument, vivre l’ambiance, se perdre dans les dédales, escaliers et y manger des huîtres. Moi j’adore.
