This guy is the biggest asshole. he was so incredibly rude to my friend and i when we stopped in to check out his jewelry. The handle of the door was obviously removed because you see the holes and it apparently swings both ways, but you have to push it pretty hard and the glass door grinds against the cement floor… he insulted our intelligence for having a hard time with his door. being a designer, you would think he’d have a decently designed door. and his work isn’t all that. i liked one necklace i saw and it wasn’t worth the money.

Gregg’s work is amazing. Over the years, he’s made many custom pieces for me, and I’ve bought a fair bit of his standard line as well. All fantastic. He’s an artist as well as a craftsman. I had been shy of going in, thinking I wasn’t cool enough, but you know, I got over that, and I’m glad I did.

I was strolling past here one afternoon and the silvertone corset-style choker in the window caught my eye; thick, curved silver with leather cross ties in the back. Wolf’s huge dog is very friendly, and will greet you happily as you descend the stairs into this small basement shop. Fortunately for my wallet, I’m allergic to silver, which is by leaps and bounds the primary metal Wolf works with. He handmade all of the jewelry and accoutrements in his store, and everything is unique and stunning without losing its innate simplicity. Hammered silver rings, finely etched cicadas eerily lifelike in their realness, studded silver arm protectors(in case you anticipate an old-school battle or perhaps an upcoming Ren Fair)…there’s a bit of everything, though as said, almost all his stuff is silver. I spoke with him at length, though, and he told me he’d happily work in other metals, such as white gold and bronze. When I win the lotto, I plan to have Wolf make me several matching sets of jewelery in pure rhodium. I’d be able to bridge the ancient and modern worlds perfectly; something I long to do and yet never quite seem able to accomplish.

I love this guy’s style. Very chunky, very rock and roll, very cool. Always wanted an excuse to buy some of his stuff, but I don’t really wear jewelry. So I figured I would just admire his work without actually wearing any of it. Then when I was getting married I had him make the wedding rings and my wife’s engagement ring, which she designed with him. His input, care and craftsmanship were all top notch. We were more than satisfied with what we got AND what we paid. The experience of dealing with him was great. It made me wish I wore jewelry beyond the wedding ring and an earring. Last time I was there he had a silver locust pendant that was beyond cool, but I really couldn’t pull it off. If you’re the kind of person who could you really should check out this guy’s stuff! If you have something of a rock and roll or iconoclastic spirit this guy’s work could be right up your alley. (I may have to go back and take another look at that locust pendant…)
