I’ve watched this place go from terrible to actually good over a span of 2 years. Although, It still has room for improvement. I’ve been to the best of the NYC carts(hamza and madina, king of falafel, 86th and 5th etc.) this one still has a way to go but not too far. My first personal opinion/suggestion is that they ditch the orange cinnamon rice that all the other carts on the island have. It simply does not mix well with the food. Its a shame because everything else is good! Just get some basmati rice and cumin seed and call it a day. If the owner can see this, I want you to know you guys are the closest to Brooklyn/queens quality than every other cart here. Keep it up, if you guys keep improving at this rate you’ll come out on top!

I wish you could give fractional votes on here because im feeling a 3.5 — and heres why. The food is pretty good and definitely hits the spot, its not quite 53&6 but its definitely tasty. They are open until 5AM and sometimes he stays slightly later. Food deserves a 4. The service is what deserves a 3, they are slow. In my few visits I learned to sit in my car until whoever is waiting at the cart gets their food and then i run over and place my order. If you make any kind of special requests(I recommend getting chicken and rice but asking for grilled pita on top) you have to watch them carefully to make sure they do/don’t do whatever the request was and sometimes remind them. I think this a great addition to the south shore of Staten Island and is cheap, open late and tasty! It is located on Richmond Ave near Wainwright, adjacent to the Northfield Bank and Greenridge parking lot.

I was driving by on a recent night and saw the lights on this halal cart across from the Eltingville bus station, decided to drop in as I was hungry and had never seen a halal cart on Staten Island. The fellow running the place is Egyptian, said that he started 3 weeks ago and that his hours are night time till 5AM. I bought a lamb and chicken combo over rice platter so that I could do a yay/nay in one meal. The rice was the yellow rice common with the other egyptian carts I’ve tried. The lamb was no different from anywhere else although he sliced it off the spit, chopped it up and cooked it some more before placing it on top of the rice. The chicken was in large chunks awaiting being chopped, which he did and cooked some more. He provided ample white sauce and cooperated with my request for just a bit of extra hot sauce. The meal was satisfying, the rice was fine(though I prefer the Indian/Pakistani/Bengali flavors more), the lamb same as anyone else’s and the chicken was quite good. Overall it was a satisfying meal and I will stop in when I am in the area. While the guy was preparing my plate, he told me that there are 2 or 3 more carts on Staten Island now – one in New Dorp, another one or two in areas I don’t know/remember.
