i had their beef stew called, short rib bourguignon simmer, gelatinous as most of their soups, just passable, good as emergency food but that s it

The bread was amazing. The soup was a chicken barley and was a bit on the spicey side for me personally. The customer service was pleasant. Great location. I may try again in the future.

Soups are good but they don’t heat up sandwiches… I don’t understand why you would make a bbq chicken sandwich and not heat it up

Liked my chicken vegetables soup a lot. They do have ice water by the seating tables in case you thirsty. Lunch time is a wait of at least 15min on line. Have a great variety of delicious sandwiches and sandwiches also. Dont give 5 stars just because customer service is not that great.

I love the salads! Choose your greens and any 5 toppings for just $ 9.49. I added the Asian peanut sauce too and it was amazing. One of the best salads I’ve had in my life :)

I just found a dead bug in my «made fresh daily» Caesar salad. Will never eat here again. Gross!

I come here for lunch at least twice a week if not more. I love soup and I’ve never had a bad one yet!!! Also I fell in love with the salads but sometimes that line can be long. Sandwiches are hit or miss, but I don’t come here for that… because they specialize in soup people! Also I’ve never had a bad customer service experience here! Maybe because I’m from the south and we smile at every chance we get and say hello and thank you for everything even if it’s not warranted. I’ve watched people in here be so rude to the employees but you expect exceptional service, unfortunately it doesn’t work that way. If your confused just ask for help, I did and they eagerly showed me everything. They are often busy but speaking to people helps… seriously «You get more flys with honey than with vinegar» As for the price. Show me a cheap meal in Manhattan that’s not fast food and then we’ll talk.

Can’t believe the volume of bad review’s here. For those complaining about not enjoying the soup they ordered here’s a tip; they’re more than happy to let you sample soups before you order, just ask. Some of my personal favorite’s include curried chicken chowder and the mac and cheese. Salad’s here always disappointed me, but the prepacked ones in the case are decent for less $$ Sandwiches are good, nothing will blow your mind but the ingredients are fresh and most have a nice taste. Overall this place is overpriced for the volume of food, but they do have some good options. Experiment and sample soups to find out what you like, just don’t be that person that asks for 5 samples during the lunch rush and then opt for salad. Make sure you get one of the stamp cards if you end up going somewhat regularly.

Pretty good chicken corn chowder soup filled with corn, carrots, shreds of chicken, and a bit of bacon. The soup was hearty and tasty, and a little bit sweet. The sandwiches look good too. Nice chain, how hale.

I came here on a weekend so they weren’t that busy. Had the mulligatawny which was excellent. I don’t normally have soup, but I can definitely make an exception for Hale and Hearty.

I get that this is pretty much as chainy as you can get before going to Subway for lunch, but on a day like today with the wind and rain and cold consuming all of my life choices, there’s nothing I’d rather have than one of their hot, comforting soups. The line will be winding through the restaurant during weekday lunch hours, but it moves remarkably quickly. The service is what I’ve noticed in a lot of New York — the staff is impatient and may sound short with you, but once you get down to it they’re courteous and get you what you need. Bring your glasses if you wear them, because you have to read from the board to see the day’s soup selection, and it’s always different. My favorite has been the corn and chicken chowder, but pretty much every soup I’ve tried has been pretty tasty. If you’re in the mood to indulge, look for the creamy tomato with meatballs… it’s basically a meatball sub in soup form with some pasta thrown in for good(unhealthy) measure. It took me way too long to realize that the different soups have a very wide range of prices, so make sure you make a note of it! I like that you can choose sourdough, whole grain, or crackers to go with your soup, too… different types of soup call for different dipping instruments! If I’m really hungry I’ll go for a soup and half sandwich. I love that they let you buy a half a sandwich — brilliant! They also have wraps and custom salads, but I’m a soup gal when it comes to this place so I can’t impart too much wisdom there. Just writing this review helped me decide to go to Hale and Hearty for lunch today. If that’s not an endorsement, then what is?

Redeemed LevelUp $ 2+ credit here for a small maryland blue crab with 7-grain from a quick enough line and friendly folks. That said, I’ll be back the 35th of Nevuary(not even for the pumpkin bisque and butternut squash seasonal specials). Transaction Amount $ 6.52 Credit Applied — $ 6.52

I LOVESOUP! I could eat soup for every meal. Sometimes I do(cereal is just soup for the morning). And so, I love the concept of a chain that specializes in, you guessed it, soup! I wish they were out in Denver but alas they are not. It’s okay, whenever I’m back in NYC I almost always wind up stopping in a Hale & Hearty at some point. It’s convenient, it’s fast, it’s relatively healthy and decently priced. To me, those are all the markings of a solid place to grab a quick lunch. Their sandwiches are good too and I usually do their soup and ½ sandwich deal. I’ve always intended to try their salads because those look delicious too but… the soup gets me every time, dammit. As far as I can ascertain, this specific location is like any other I’ve ever been to, but perhaps with a bit more seating than some others. Now, come to Denver, Hale & Hearty. All the cool kids are doing it.

Contrary to popular belief, soup is not just for sick or dying people. It is for busy New Yorkers that need a little speck of joy at the lunch hour. I am determined to try all 150 soups. So far I am at 4. I haven’t met a soup here that I didn’t like, and the half sandwich/soup deal for lunch cannot be beat. This is the absolute best place for a reasonably priced lunch in the city, especially now that the weather is getting cold. Don’t forget to ask for your frequent soup-er card!

The taste of the food, friendliness and cleanliness of the establishment get my 3 stars. My first time eating here and I had to get 3 soups! The first one didn’t taste cooked(beans were al sentence), they got the order wrong on the replacement soup, and then feeling embarrassed I asked a third time and they have me the soup I’m eating now. The pre-packed salad is good, fresh. The pre-packaged soup and salad total is $ 12.50. That’s average for this area of town. Get here early bc a minute after noon on a weekday and it’s VERY busy. The employees are nice. Enjoy!

Is it just me or is $ 5 a little much for the teeny soup you get? I got clam chowder and it really wasn’t anything but I’ve had good chili from here before. In the winter months, it gets super steamy. There’s condensation all over the windows and floor. I’m here on a Wednesday at 6pm and it’s pretty empty. Service was mediocre but there’s nothing at this store that’s worth giving a bad review about.

The best food chain around! Soup fits every season and with Hale and Hearty’s changing menus, you can’t possible get sick of soup! Pour in some addicting crackers and you are set. Great staff. You can sample as many as you like and they won’t judge! Not even the slightest eyebrow raise. The only downside is the price. It is pricey compared to other locations for soup.

«Oh baby, it’s cold outside…» So I got a small chicken dumpling soup at $ 4.59 which was piping hot burning my mouth as a late afternoon snack before dinner. Staff are freely willing to distribute samples before patrons make their ultimate decision. Specials are written on a traditional black chalk board, indicators note which soups are sold out for the day. I’ve always love their signature soup crackers as I can eat that all day as a substitute for potato chips. I would buy their signature soup crackers standing alone without any soup. Long chaotic line can easily be avoided during off-peak hours. Glass tables are encapsulated with dried peas and green beans. Tables are microscopically small in size. A loyalty rewards card is available for frequent patrons.
