Helen is a wonderful teacher, patient and caring, and has taught me so much over the years. She works very hard for her students, creating opportunities for playing, sharing and critiquing our performances to reveal the inherent musical talents in each of us.

Helen is equal parts teacher and coach. She finds creative ways to help you develop technique and tone, always in service of the piece you’re working on. It’s not unusual for her to use her breath or suggest a visual aid to explain a time signature or help you understand the particular mood for a piece. Helen is also remarkably nurturing and nonjudgmental — you’re only striving against yourself to improve, and you will with her expert support and guidance.
