Hoochie Poochie Club

There is nothing ordinary about this company. My Labradoodle Bruce is just over four years old and I’ve been working with, and Bruce has been playing and roaming with, the professional village that is Hoochie Poochie NYC for most of his life, since he was just a few months old. I think of them this way, because they are no «one thing.» They are an extension of how I am raising Bruce. They expand his world. They help make his life safe, wonderful, and full of daily adventure.
As a result of the quality and depth of care he receives, he’s even more park, group, and street smart than he would have been otherwise. The photo-​filled email narratives I get daily warm my heart.
I met them just about the time I started walking Bruce outside on the Upper West Side — and it felt like a great alternative to straight dog walking (though they do that too). They treat us like friends, top clients and family at every touch point. I work from home and could easily keep Bruce with me most of the day, but his socialization is something immensely important to me. He plays with a whole crew of dogs for 3 – 5 hours a day and in different settings. Because I run my own business, there is often flux and surprise within my schedule. They are always right there to make it work.
This whole mix is essential to me.
And, in all kinds of little ways, they have been as loyal to me as I feel to them. In fact, I recently moved to the East Side and they did not miss a beat. Next day, new crew, new friends, new routine, without a hitch and all puppy smiles.
What can I say, Hoochie Poochie brings joy and assurance to my family. And Bruce is a better dog for it.

WE NEED TO WARN YOU about the HORRIFIC experience we had while using a Hoochie Poochie dog walker. The company’s owner, Lauren Possee assured us, despite our hesitations, that the walker she appointed us was experienced and knowledgeable when it came to walking dogs. Less than five minutes into her fourth day on the job our dog was attacked by another dog on the street. Moments before, the Hoochie Poochie walker was warned the attacking dog was not friendly and potentially dangerous. Due to her inexperience and irresponsibility she failed to protect our dog when she saw the other dog lunging towards him and as a result our dog lost his left eye. Both our vet and the surgeon who performed our dog’s eye removal surgery said that it was the worst, most vicious dog attack they have ever seen to a dog’s eye. While you might be saying to yourself this incident is isolated to the walker we were given (who still maybe working for the company so beware) the truth of the matter is that over the years we have had many Hoochie Poochie dog walkers and one by one they have all left the company with more or less the same complaints. Lauren Possee has no sense of time management. She over works her walkers by giving them unreasonable schedules that demand them to go from one location to the next with very little travel time. Lauren’s main priority is her filling her pockets. She has taken on way too many clients and the dogs in her care are the ones who have suffered – our dog is a perfect example of this. Please don’t allow this to happen to your dog. There are plenty of reliable, responsible and caring dog walking services in New York City. Learn from our mistake.

Hoochie Poochie is the BEST dog walking service in NYC. The owner Lauren is very professional, organized, and truly cares about the dogs. I trust them with my lab 100%. Carrie and Michele are the walkers for my dog, and they send me the cutest emails at the end of each playgroup with a great recap and pictures. They go above and beyond to make sure the dogs are well cared for and happy. The playgroup is a great option for dogs who need more exercise than just an hour walk. I have had a few bad experiences in the city, but am so thankful I found this company.

This review is long overdue but I have to say, Lauren and her team at Hoochie Poochie are absolutely amazing because they are so passionate about their dogs! I couldn’t ask for a more trust worthy and kind person to walk my pooch! Lauren’s professionalism and expertise, go beyond what you would expect from any pet care specialist. I’ve had emergencies arise while I’m at work, and Lauren herself has come to save the day. All of the walkers are great. My dog is stubborn and always out scavenging for food but I trust her walker to make sure she doesn’t pick up an old chicken bone. It was tough transitioning from a walker that was with us for six full years and so I feel blessed that my neighbors told me about Hoochie Poochie. I love knowing that my dog gets fresh water after her walks and I look forward to the pictures that I receive while she’s out. I can go to work with comfort knowing that in only a few hours, my dog Molly will trotting down the street with someone that will take great care of her.–

This has got to be the best dog walking/​boarding service in NYC. The owner Lauren takes a personal interest in all of the dogs at Hoochie Poochie. She covers most neighborhoods in Manhattan and has walkers/​boarders all over the city. They also have play dates where a walker will take a group of dogs to a local park. Play dates are so vital for dogs in NYC. The interaction that they get at the park brings them so much joy. I love the dog parks and am thankful Hoochie Poochie provides that service.
Lauren is also incredibly organized and offers check in upon arrival, notes of how each walk went, and photos from walks and play dates. Another huge plus is that the walkers at Hoochie Poochie typically only walk 2 – 3 dogs at a time. They won’t walk your dog in a big pack where they get little attention like I have witnessed other companies doing.
I highly recommend Hoochie Poochie. The satisfaction of knowing your dog is in good hands while you are at work or on vacation is worth every penny!

I’ve had a great experience with Hoochie Poochie over the past few months. I enrolled my Shih-​Poo in their dog walking group, which has worked out really well for both of us. Her walker (the same person each time, so Ella has grown to love her) picks her up while I’m at work and she plays. walks with other dogs for 3 – 4 hours, then the bring her home at the end of the day. She e-​mails me a daily report with pictures and sometimes even video of the dogs playing.
The folks at Hoochie Poochie are super nice and accomodating — they even leant me a doggie sweater for a few weeks because it got very cold outside all of a sudden, and my dog’s coat is packed for an upcoming move. That was totally above and beyond — and I very much appreciate it!
I highly highly recommend them.

I’ve boarded my dog at my different places in Manhattan and have been most pleased with Hoochie Poochie. Your dog will stay in someone’s apartment and get their attention all day! The best part is they will send you emails each day with updates on your pet and pictures. It’s really cute. AND they will pick up and drop off your dog for FREE within 10 blocks of their location!
Update: I’ve boarded my dog here now many times and every time he comes home tired and happy as can be. Lauren this owner is a doll and all of the employees really do love pets and show it by how well they care for them!
