AVOID THIS DOCTOR!!! He is very cold and unfeeling. Horrible bedside manner. My experience with this doctor felt like a «transaction». He prides himself on being quick which is good, but he’s a little too quick. He doesn’t take the time to explain anything. He seems to be always in a rush as if you’re inconveniencing him by asking questions about your body or your health.
Office staff over the phone is very rude! Many like to talk fast and cut you off. I will say that there are some nice ladies that work there that I have seen during my visits but I don’t think they answer the phone (thank God).
I can’t stress enough how much you should avoid this doctor. I would give him zero stars if possible. He is the worst!!! There are too many other OBGYN’s out her for you to have to put up with someone who just sees you as another transaction. He could care less about you. Go elsewhere! My suggestion: check
for other doctors.

After telling us the visit was prenatal and performing all the blood tests, genetic tests, and sonograms, they proceeded to bill it as missed period so our insurance covered none of it. They continued to try and get us to have more, unnecessary tests and procedures, but after realizing he was just after more money and didn’t care about us at all, we changed doctors. Felt like they were just shuffling us out of the office as fast as they could and made it seem like we were hassling them by just being there. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I chose this practice because of another doctor (Dr. Stephanie), but ended up with Dr. Kurtz. It’s been over a year since he attended my birth, and I still struggle with so many negative feelings towards this man. He ruined my labor and birth experience. Treated me like a number, like someone who was just occupying a bed. Rushed all the medical interventions on me when it was NOT necessary (epidural, Pitocin, broke my water) at 3 cm! when, my body was laboring perfectly on its own. Routine episiotomy without even telling me, he just said «I hope you didn’t feel that» after cutting me. He has terrible bed side manner and makes you feel rushed. When I was ready to start pushing he said to me «hurry up, no one in here likes to be kept waiting», referring to himself and the rest of the staff. How dare he say that to a first time mom who is about to experience life’s most wonderful moment?! Now that I am getting ready to have my second baby, I realize what a JERK this guy is and I would NEVER let him near me, my body, or my baby.

Dr. Kurtz is amazing. During our first meeting, he took his time to ask me questions about my health history and was very informative and patient when I unloaded a ton of questions on him. I was nervous since it was my first OB/​GYN appointment in over 3yrs. I had a very difficult time finding the right doctor after moving to NYC from CA. I’m so glad I found Dr. Kurtz! He made me feel very comfortable and at ease. He takes his time and explains everything he is doing so you know what to expect. He always calls personally to go over test results with you and his staff is very friendly and helpful. I’ve had a really great experience in both his Brooklyn and Manhattan offices. I never had to wait long to be seen and was pretty much in and out fairly quickly. I would highly recommend him to any one for their OB/​GYN needs.

Come here if you want a rushed, condescending doctor who will talk to you as if you’re a 13 year old teen couple on welfare having an accidental baby when you’re really an upper middle class couple in their mid thirties having a planned baby. Also, Dr. Kurtz called my wife with test results and kept referring to a prior pregnancy that she had never even had. Not sure if he was even reading the correct chart for her. I also recommend this place if you love getting huge bills that should have been covered by your insurance. We found another ob after one visit with this doctor.

I went here to do a basic annual and screening. Something that would have cost 80 bucks at Planned Parenthood but no I chose to go here because I did not foresee the time I would waste and the long term damage I would deal with from choosing this place. So I saw Alder-​he was fine-​I left the office just paying the copay on my insurance.
A week turns into two and I hear no news-​they don’t even bother to follow up to tell me if my vagina is going to fall or I’m dying of aids-​whatever, anything would have been nice-​just a follow – three weeks — four – ok well now they do FINALLy follow up to tell me that my insurance didn’t go through. Ok well I just changed my insurance so did you run the current one that I asked? «Oh no-​which one was that and can you find time in your insanely busy day to run by a Kinkos and fax it?» So I did this-​I faxed them the correct insurance cards not ONCE no TWICE but THREE times-​I have them all saved and printed out and thank GOD I do because now, after their completely incompetent (and I might add a wee bit ghetto) office managed to not properly fix my insurance information and I now have a 500 dollar bill now in collection. Yes that’s right-​because his office is so completely incompetent I am being threatened the ability to buy a car, own a house, or even rent an apartment for that matter. All I had to do was go to Planned Parenthood and cough up 80 bucks and I not only would have had results within the week but I would not have this financial heartache, possible legal drama, and more hours wasted of my already insanely busy life.
ABSOLUTELY DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN HOLD THE HAND OF AN INCOMPETENT STAFF ALONG WHILE THEY RUN YOUR PAPER WORK AND DOUBLE CHECK IT FOR THEM BECAUSE YOU WILL BE NOTHING BUT SORRY.

Super rude business– its a practice w/​a few doctors (I’ve been to two of them and although they seem nice, they will end up billing you for procedures they don’t go over) and the billing lady is a witch. I’m not sure how they can operate a business w such a rude staff. I’m guessing it’s because they charge you for things the doctor does not explain. If you want a rude staff and bills exceeding a grand after your visit– try this place. I have insurance and I still got billed for an insane amount. The billing lady– I call to pay and she has a sharp attitude w me saying she doesn’t know if she will be in the office if I dropped by to pay. I asked what time do you go for lunch and I’ll make sure I stop by before. She said she doesn’t go to lunch. I then said, well you should be there. She says, «I don’t know– hopefully.» she didn’t understand that I was trying to pay her office without her ever having to call me or contact me and she gets the attitude. I asked for the manager to call me back– so I could discuss how rude her staff was and lack of explanation of what the dr was charging me for– she never did.
Unreliable and rude!

Wow — I don’t know what happened to them in the past year, but I find both docs, especially Kurtz to be extremely UNPLEASANT with poor bedside manners.
I’ll skip the many details of my problems with them, including the part where they dismissed my mild concern I paged them about, that turned out to be very serious, but suffice it to say, the moment I have my child, I will be switching practices.
On a positive, I will say that they DO always return calls and the women in the office, though gruff, are efficient.

I know you are going to think it wierd for a man to rate a OB/​GYN but I was just cruising along Unilocal and found this post. I can’t attest for the service but I actually worked there for a year when I was in High School.
WOW that was so long ago and it used to be Adler/​Waschowski OB/​GYN but I can attest to Dr. Adler running a great practice and being very nice and friendly.
Probably not the best person to really rate the place but I had to, this was actually my first job ever (I know I know a black kid working for a Jewish OB/​GYN how did that happen) and he couldn’t have been a nicer guy. If any of you go there let him know I said hello.

Dr Kurtz is a true doctor (OB/​GYN) in all sense of the word. Very professional yet caring and excellent bedside manners. If you call him, he will call you back no matter what, which is more than I can say for most doctors nowadays. He is on call for deliveries so you should check his office hours. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend him to everyone. I am from NYC and have been to some very lousy and greedy OB/​GYNs (one gyno actually tried to hold my birth control pills hostage in order to have me come in for another exam even tho it had only been 7 months since I last saw her aka Dr. Nathalie Meimaris of NYU), but Dr. Kurtz is truly excellent.

Dr. Kurtz recently delivered my son and I highly recommend him. He has a calm demeanor, a great sense of humor, and is a very skilled physician (I had a complicated delivery and he was truly impressive throughout). I have also seen the other doctors in this practice group, Drs. Adler and Tung, and recommend them as well. It is a very popular, and therefore busy, practice, but I was always able to get appointments that worked with my schedule and was seen within just a few minutes of my appointment times.
