Instrata Gramercy

Lived here for 2 years (which speaks for itself) and found everything to be fabulous — mainly because of all the wonderful staff. The apartment was spacious, really well sound-​proofed from the neighbours and well maintained. The roof has the best views of the city and the building feels extremely safe and secure, again, thanks to the lovely door staff. Did not want to leave.

After the original post, I’ll say for the most part things have gotten better. They have started changing a lot of the breaking heat and air units, so that’s no longer the issue, though most gym equipment is still broken and an elevator is out of order every couple months. I do think the apartment itself is great, you can’t hear neighbors at all, and maintenance and door men are really lovely, helpful people.

I’ve lived at the Elektra for three years now and I am moving out this month. I could not have asked for a better living situation for the three years I spent in New York. I would have continued to live at the Elektra but I’m moving across the country. Contrary to a review below, I have always had a great experience with management. I worked with Dawn, who was always very helpful and prompt in getting back to me. She always checked in on me to make sure I was happy, and I felt comfortable reaching out to her with any questions — or even advice on restaurants and stores in the neighborhood. Paul was always super friendly and responded to my maintenance requests quickly. I also have to say how great the doormen are — always reliable and super nice. From an aesthetic standpoint, I recommend the building because it has nice wood floors, modern appliances, a balcony, marble bathroom and amazing views. The rooftop view is also incredible. The building was always so responsible in giving me a heads up if something broke (things break in any building, it’s normal) and also sent me friendly reminders about storms. Speaking of storms, when Hurricane Sandy came — the building made me feel extremely safe and took every precaution necessary. I’m going to really miss living at the Elektra and would recommend it to anyone looking for a luxury doorman building in New York City.

We had a one bedroom which was spacious but of course there were signs of normal wear and tear. There was unfortunately a water main break on the street which resulted in us having no water (i.e plumbing etc) for a day but otherwise no problems. Convenient location and from what we observed safe at night to walk around.
